I just realized that we don't even have a topic for this, yet we talk about it kinda frequently. Make your steam sale-related recommendations/inquiries/comments/haikus here.
As for myself, I just bought the Binding of Isaac collection for 66 cents. 90% off, baby.
I looked at this yesterday and the stuff they have is so ridiculous! I need to get a better setup.
Skullgirls is on sale for 66% off, making it only $5.06 which is a fantastic deal.
Ooh, I'm gonna strongly consider that.
Also, I've been recommended to get Bastion for a while, and it's 75% off so it's just $3.74 right now, so Ima go ahead and get that. I'll probably wait to get Transistor until it's old enough to get more than 33% off.
Btw, essentially all of the games I'm recommending don't require a remotely expensive setup
I bought some games in the exploration sale, so my backlog is big enough to begin with. I'll mention that Binding of Issac: Rebirth (one of the games I put the most hours into recently) is 25% off, and Always Sometimes Monsters is 50% off.
Also, Wolf Among Us is 66% off.
If I'd already played through the two from the Binding of Isaac collection (still 66 cents I believe), I'd probably consider rebirth, but I haven't yet, so 25% off is a bit underwhelming.
Did you play Bastion yet? I love that game.
I'm waiting for Child of Light to get a little bit cheaper before I buy it. I've been interested in it for months but that sale isn't good enough...
After buying tons of games in the last few years of sales, there really isn't anything left that interests me in these. Maybe if the new Ass Creed got super cheap (I doubt it will get cheap enough for me to buy), but otherwise eh. There are a ton of those cheap shitty and/or pretentious indie games that I would buy and then never install. I already have far too many from previous sales and bundles so I'm not looking to add to that dead collection l0l
Bastion is moderately amusing though. It's really short and imo not that entertaining to replay so I wouldn't pay more than the sale price for it.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is 90% off now. You will need a controler.
It's a truly unique game. I just can't do it justice.
Master Reboot, a game I originally purchased from Wii U eShop last Halloween is 75% off on Steam and it's really worth the discount price! I recommend purchasing the Bundle, because that comes with the game's great soundtrack(and an artbook, but the soundtrack is worth the extra couple of bucks!) It's also on sale on eShop, and it's best played through a TV screen imo
It has an unique story, it's visually one of the best indie games I've played on the Wii U, and it has a spot-on soundtrack and puzzles! It's a little short, but it does have some replay value in the form of rubber duckies(and 20 Steam achievements) that are scattered throughout the courses that you can find(each duck explains the story a bit!). You can read the reviews on Steam if you need to hear more but I'd get the game if I were you!

Huh, a friend just bought that for me. Hope it's good.
caved and got kerbal space program, looking forward to trying that out
Also threw in brothers and ftl since there needed to be an extra transfer in money due to somebody owing somebody, anyway I'll give them a shot I suppose ._.

I re-bought Plants Vs. Zombies and Age of Mythology because they were both on sale and in remastered versions.
I feel no shame, they're both so good.
Man, I used to play AoM all the time when I was younger. I might get the remastered version since thats apparently a thing that exists.
The Stanley Parable was 70% off, so Stanley decided to purchase it.
But was that a wise decision of Stanley? Was he ordered to purchase his own game?
Quote from: Maelstrom on December 29, 2014, 06:14:33 PMThe Stanley Parable was 70% off, so Stanley decided to purchase it.

(actual spoiler)

No no no, I think you misheard me. I said,
Stanley decided to purchase The Stanley Parable.
No! No no no, I said the Stanley Parable! The story! Here, Stanley, give me a chance. Let me prove I'm on your side.
Just filled my Steam wallet and realized it's that awkward time between sales XD
Then save that glorious Steam cash for the next sale, then!
King's Bounty: Platinum edition is 80% off so of course I got that. We'll see if I'll ever install any of it...
Square Enix weekend. I can recommend the latest Tomb Raider.
Anyone played Thief?
Nope. But I've heard quite a bit. It's just a mediocre game with numerous bugs and less method a of approach than you might think. I've heard the original is great, though.
http://store.steampowered.com/sale/ubisoft_weekend/
Ubisoft weekend. Not too much, unless you like AC.
Child of Light is 66% off and Valiant Hearts is 75%.
Thinking about picking up both.
And, for those who like them, there's some Far Cry, Clancy, South Park, and Rayman on sale.
Oh man, I want both of those games. I should snag 'em...
Just remember, uplay is still a thing. :(
Bleh, I know.

Crypt of the Necrodancer is 50% off for another 2 hours. Highly recommended, along with the soundtrack(s)
http://store.steampowered.com/app/225080/
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is 90% off right now.
I cannot recommend this game enough.
Since it's only $1.50, you have no reason not to buy it.
Another recommendation no one will notice. Yay.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/219890/
It's a little light on graphics, but makes up for it with mind-bending puzzles. It's sort of in a Metroidvania style, so you can wander around or warp to any rooms you previously encountered. Nearly all of the puzzles play with your mind. Sometimes, just by looking away, something could change, or a doorway could open. Conversely, the solution may just be to stare at it. Soon after you begin, you get a gun that allows you to place blocks and makes the gameplay much more interesting.
Highly recommended.
And it's 75% off. That's nice.
Oh shit, that's actually a game I've been meaning to get but never remember it when sales are going on. Thanks for the reminder
And as before, I continue to recommend the (75% off) Valve complete pack. 24 games for $25. Granted, some of those are rereleases of the original games (i.e. Half Life redone in Source), and some I honestly don't know if/when I'll ever get around to playing (Day of Defeat, for example), but if you have not played the Half Life, Portal, or L4D series (counterstrike as well, but people on here don't seem to be as fond of straight up FPS games), you really need to. At the very least, buy the half life and portal bundles (Half Life Complete = $10 currently, usually $40; Portal Bundle = $6.24 currently, usually $25)
Fuck I got Gone Home when it was $2 the other day and I wish the sale was still going on because I would recommend it to everyone. It's way too short to pay the list price but I CANT STOP CRYING at the end of this game FUCK

Hey, it might pop up on the encore sale Sunday.
Welllllll all I can say is don't pay the usual price--it's pretty absurd considering the game is only about 3 hours max, with almost no replay value. But if it does go on sale again, especially for $2 or so, it's so worth it. Just don't look up anything about it--I didn't and I found the game was much better for it.
The Stanley Parable is now 75% off
http://store.steampowered.com/app/221910/
I'd say why you need to play it, but the less you know about the game, the more fun it is.
But like, you really do need to play it.
It is very funny, and that is all you need to know.
EDIT: Bought antichamber. See mael, someone did notice your recommendation!

I highly recommend getting the soundtrack alongside this game.
It is absolutely phenomenal.
Humble store end of summer sale.
Tons of discounts, including most telltale games, if they're your kind of thing.
Stealth inc. 2 is free, and I've heard decent things about it.
Is Rouge Legacy any good?
Also Rocket League and Starbound got a discount :D Less than 24 hours left though.
Is 100% Orange juice discounted?
If it is everyone should get it and play with Mashi and I
VVVVV is on sale in the Humble Store for $0.49
It's an excellent, short game with a really great chiptune soundtrack.
Pretty highly recommended, especially for 50 cents.

(also early access http://store.steampowered.com/app/279900 though I'm personally gonna buy this after it fully releases)
Bought the following games on the Lunar New Year sale.

I bought Undertale too lol
Eyyy! Now when you beat the game, you can open ze spoilahs!
Lol, I bought Undertale and Crypt of the NecroDancer too! I managed to play the latter for a bit, it's pretty fun. I'll likely only be able to play Undertale at school unless I use a hotkey though (my arrow keys don't work and using fn is a drag)
Just remember, the final boss is ASRIEL.
Who that?
exactly.
Did you just make that name up? There is no -snip- in the game. What are you talking about?
Not sure where else to put this but I apparently got a 75% off Valkyria Chronicles coupon sent to my inventory. Anyone else got this?
The Stanley Parable is now 80% off, making it a measly $3.00.
Seriously, just buy it if you don't have it already.

I HAD $3.48 IN MY STEAM WALLET AND I NEVER WOULD HAVE KNOWN WITHOUT YOU
THANK YOU MEALSTROM-SENPAI
Is Stardew Valley worth buying for it's current sale of $12 USD?
If it's as good as I've heard, yes. Totally.
The Swapper is 80% off.
Highly recommended puzzle game.
Also, I saw that the Hotline Miami combo pack is 75% off. I have a friend who loves those games to death, and I've only heard good stuff about them.
Last, but not least, is Brothers, A Tale of Two Sons.
90% off.
You will need a controller to play this, but, if you do, seriously. Play this game. It's best played in a single sitting. It's better than The Stanley Parable. It's possibly the best game I've ever played, but always forgotten to mention. Seriously, this game gets my highest recommendation. It's so good. Just get it.

For quite understandable reasons, might I add.
Australia's really annoying with that kind of stuff, though.
Tempted to just take the "Australia's really annoying" part and stick it in the Hall of Quotes.
Yay! I got Terraria and Undertale in the summer steam sale!
You bought undertale?

It took THAT LONG.
Also on the other hand Terraria is a great game and I just got back to playing it.
Also on yet another hand (yes, three hands), I bought RPG Maker VX Ace, and I still have $10, but I don't know what to do with it.
I still haven't done Genocide Mode in Undertale but I did everything else
I haven't gotten Undertale yet.....
Heheh....yep.. To be fair, I haven't seen all of te genocide route yet, so I have that to look forward to..

Pretty good Humble Bundle.
Kero Blaster is half off this week ($4.99)! Sale ends 11/14.
It's been on my to-buy list for a while.
I think I'll finally pick it up.
Aw, I'd get it, but I was a kind soul and got a gift for a friend which depleted my Steam monies.
too bad they don't allow free link sharing . I would post a link. If you want I can pm you a link for undertale it's a nice game.
Spreading the good news: Kero Blaster is on sale for $5.99~
Undertale and the Danganronpa games are both on sale this week! Buy them.
I will be getting Danganronpa 2.
Umineko is on sale, but this discount isn't incredibly high.
Also on sale is Valkyria Chronicles which is highly recommended. It's only 6.00. Controller highly recommend. It also is incredibly well optimized and should run on just about anything.
Kero Blaster is on sale for 5.99 (40% off!) through the 27th!
I think... I think Olimar want's people to play Kero Blaster.
It's been a running theme.
For the past 3 years.
Its good! D:
GUESS WHAT TIME IT IS!??!!
Yes, that's right, it's the
STEAM SUMMER SALE TIME. Just thought I'd give you all a heads-up in case you hadn't heard about it, but the deals are officially ON.
Steam summer sale: Kero Blaster is on sale for $5.99~
How? Did we... just... get it in our heads to post about the sale at exactly the same time and...?
Ugh. This is hurting my head.
Have you played Kero Blaster yet?
No. But I might get it if I decide to buy stuff in the sale.
Lisa the rpg is 5$ and VVVVVV is 1.29$ :>
I need to get a Steam card - I really want Soma Spirits and Long Live The Queen.
^ I have Long Live The Queen and it is good. I also have Kero Blaster and it is also good if you needed a recommendation.
I bought Civ V Complete (and some other stuff). Don't know if this computer can run it without extreme amounts of lag, but my laptop probably could. Also I have about $8 left, and deciding what else to get. Kero Blaster is definitely one of the options. And will leave me enough to get Mutant Mudds also, which is only NINETY-NINE CENTS!
Mutant Mudds is that cheap??? Get it!
Brothers: A Tale of Two Son's, or a supergiant game is a good idea.
Ok, my list of recommendations:
Less deep discounts on excellent games
Va11-HaLL-A
Umineko
Furi
Hollow Knight
Deep discounts on great games:
Crypt of the NecroDancer
Portal 2
Antichamber
Transistor
Braid
The Swapper
VVVVVV
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
The Beginner's Guide
The Stanley Parable
I got Va11-HaLL-A the other day at Mael's recommendation, and I have to agree it's pretty great so far. Plus, I even got a foil trading card!
I'd also personally recommend Stardew Valley; I easily sunk 60 hours into it over the course of about two months without even realizing it. It's that good.
...and Super Meat Boy, because it's Super Meat Boy.
I really wish Cuphead was out now lol so I could nab it during the sale. Shame it's slated for September...

Not necessarily that, I meant more that I could easily spend 4 hours or more at a time just sitting playing Stardew Valley. It was good enough I could literally play it hours on end, which I don't often do.

Also, if you haven't played them before, and you're looking for some cheap games, the first two Oddworld games (Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus) are both only $0.74 each. The remaster/remake of the original, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, is also on sale for about five dollars.
Dream daddy isn't out yet so I don't think there's anything else I'd want.
Obligatory, but all three Danganronpa titles (1, 2, and Another Episode) are available as a $51 bundle atm. Considering they're ~$30 individually and they're all fantastic, highly recommended.

I thought I was here for the free food
This technically isn't a Steam sale, but it's for a Steam game...
As some of you may (or may not!) know, the Borderlands 1 remaster is coming out tomorrow. It's going to be selling for $30, which isn't a bad price for what you get, but wait, you ask, since you're posting here, do you know of a way to get it for cheaper? Yes. Right now, you can buy the base game on Steam for $20 and you'll get the remaster, including all the DLC, for free. BUT WAIT, there's more! You can buy it on Amazon for $7.50 (https://www.amazon.com/Borderlands-Game-Year-PC/dp/B004M5HV5G/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=borderlands%2Bgame%2Bof%2Bthe%2Byear%2Bedition%2Bpc&qid=1554233285&s=gateway&sr=8-1&th=1). I already bought one and the game's in my Steam library now. The update is coming at 10am PST (?) tomorrow. Time is limited. Act now. ;D
There's a Spike Chunsoft sale on Steam and if you buy the Zero Escape trilogy bundle then it is only ~8 USD. Although there is merit to playing 999 on the DS instead, the PC version includes updated graphics/voice acting and you don't have to replay the game each time to get all of the endings. Danganronpa is also on sale and the bundle for 1, 2, and V3 is ~18 USD. Both of the prices are around an 80% drop and they're both great visual novels imo
Here's a link: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/spike-chunsoft/
It ends on August 12
Highly recommend this, though I have to admit I don't have much faith in the controls of a PC port for Danganronpa, where the trials require quick reflexes. Zero Escape is slower in pace, so it wouldn't matter much.
The PC port of danganronpa is pretty solid. The mouse controls work flawlessly, and of course using a controller is always an option. They can also run on toasters
