I never could win that blasted hypnosis mini-game.......

*Key is D minor. This will eliminate you needing to write Bb, as it is included in the key signature.
*Accidentals ~ Change all Gb to F#, and change all Db to C#.
*The entire RH should be an octave lower than you have written.
*Make sure the separate layers in the LH don't collide with each other (this happens right at m. 1 in fact). To switch stem direction of a note, press "L" after selecting it.

All done, except I couldn't get an 8vb for the beginning/end. Could someone possibly add it in for me? (https://www.dropbox.com/s/i7ie5ekwk0xpbqr/Snore%20WarR.mus?dl=0)*coughcoughbespcoughcough Thanks!

Pretty good, but there are a couple of typographical things you can fix:

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about in the first point:

Here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/i7ie5ekwk0xpbqr/Snore%20WarR.mus?dl=0) is the song with more revisions.

Quote from: JesterMusician on April 15, 2015, 07:59:44 PM
  • Where there isn't a multi-voice context (measure 6 for example) you have to revert to ordinary typesetting rules - the stems for the low D's should point up.
  • It's not uncommon for piano music to revert so a single-voice context mid-measure, so long as the division is on a beat. In measure 9, the B in the second layer should be followed by an 8th rest, written as a staccato quarter note, or simply included in the first layer as it's just one note with the same duration as the existing note in layer 1.

Done. I initially thought that I'd change all the stems so they matched measures 1-4; I guess I was wrong in this instance.

Quote from: JesterMusician on April 15, 2015, 07:59:44 PM
  • There are voicing problems. When you have notes in a measure whose durations overlap, you are in a multi-voice context (and you're probably using layers or V1/V2). In this situation, it's important to make it clear which symbols belong to which voice. This is done by having the notes' stems for each voice point in opposite directions, slurs and ties curve in those directions, and all articulations on the stem-side. When the parts overlap, like this case, you still have to abide by those rules - in the case of ties, you may have to curve the tie a lot to avoid cutting through a notehead (if necessary, cut through a stem).

While you might be able to change ties in whatever programs you're using (musescore?), in my version of Finale (Notepad 2012) it won't let me do that. I could maybe change the direction of the slurs on the bottom, but then it doesn't seem quite right

Quote from: JesterMusician on April 15, 2015, 07:59:44 PM
  • I personally don't like 16th rests, and only use them when I have to. I would precede each of those G-F#-D# figures with a dotted 8th rest instead of an 8th followed by a 16th.

Now that I see it, I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. Although the last two measures seemed to get jumbled up for some odd reason, any way I can fix that?[/list]

AND as a bonus, I've been watching the Daredevil tv show on Netflix recently, and I loved the opening theme so much, I just had to transcribe it: ZIP (https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ozz8uuqkceouc0/Daredevil%20Theme.zip?dl=0)  pls no spoilers

You should write "with Traditional Kabuki shout" as a performance instruction.

Or just write "YEOOOOOOOOOOOO!" somewhere in the middle really obnoxiously.

I remember the Sushi-Go-Round minigame! Good times.

The G in the right hand of Measure 1 should be natural.
Consider doing two measures per system so the first isn't as cramped and the second isn't as stretched.

A mistake you've made in some of your sheets:
In some of your sheets containing multiple layers you've beamed both upwards or downwards. When you have two layers, always write them with one upwards beamed/stem, and the other one downwards beamed/stem. It makes it look much more clear. Just Ctrl-click the first note and press L one or two times to flip the stems/beams.

Another in "Hill Stream Blues" is from measure 18-39, use 8va signs, it makes it a lot easier reading those high notes.

I have Finale Notepad. I can't put in 8va's, so I'm gonna need someone else to do it. I do have it in the Submissions board, if you'd like to do some edits

So instead, take one of my other favorite pieces from Pokemon Stadium: Gym Leader Castle (https://www.dropbox.com/s/rxkqkr1ereymub0/Gym%20Leader%20Castle.zip?dl=0)!

Yeah, but I'm starting to get just a little tired of it. I know I'll come back to it eventually; I want to get some more from this & the second game done. But I think I'll try and get some other songs done before that. Who knows, maybe I'll take some requests. After all, my first three songs were all from the request board!

I certainly cherished the Pokemon Stadium series as a kid, but it's not the only game with songs I want to do. Also, Pokemon Snap is already taken by someone, and Jester has pretty much taken over Super Paper Mario songs. I'm not sure if I want to be known as "that guy that does Pokemon Stadium" quite yet. We'll see though.

I know exactly how you feel. If you look at my thread you'll see that I arranged a lot of Zelda: Oracles songs, in fact (soon) all the remaining. And I also feel like: Man, it's going to be so nice when I'm finished with this so I can continue and do songs from other games like Wild Arms, Final Fantasy, Skylanders etc.

A tip: If you like the playback sound, you can try the "Piano Bright" sound and see if it's better. You change it by going to "Windows" > "Score Mangager" > sound.

Yes they are chords, you could also add some chords like those in the sung verses at like 0:25, as you can hear the organ play.

Also, updated to include the Super Mario 3D World Title! Go to the first page to see it, I'm too lazy to link it again.

For the 3D World Title I made a few (very small) adjustments. Link (https://www.dropbox.com/s/5f4z7op249zvt3x/3D%20World%20Title.mus?dl=0)
-In measure 9, I added a C at the end.
-I added a glissando to the first note in measure 11.

Other than that, it looks really good!

Post by: Yug_Guy on January 02, 2016, 02:06:12 PM
So now that the Undertale project is official and under new management, I figure that it's time to bring back my personal thread. I have three major announcements regarding this thread:
1) As the Undertale project continues on, I'll try to get my Undertale arrangements in order. Right now, a couple of them are not up-to-date, but I'll try and get them updated as they get accepted into the official Undertale project. Please understand.
2) I now have a list of all the songs I want/am planning to arrange! (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y8yTyRZiY0WwGuqTYNGrWULuyJu7L0uUPp4Dfh-x32U/edit?pref=2&pli=1) I don't plan on doing every single song in this list, but it's a good way for me to organize my thoughts, as well as to let you guys know what's going on in my head. Expect songs to be added or taken off at any given point.
3) A new arrangement!

[GBA] Monsoon Jungle (Wario Land 4) - MUS (https://www.dropbox.com/s/y3qwxltkjl7jp9w/Wario%20Land%204%20Monsoon%20Jungle.mus?dl=1) - MIDI (https://www.dropbox.com/s/nyfde75wlk8483w/Wario%20Land%204%20Monsoon%20Jungle.mid?dl=1) - PDF (https://www.dropbox.com/s/rk7pmha2btzfhmg/Wario%20Land%204%20Monsoon%20Jungle.pdf?dl=1) - Original (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8B--3C-UUk)

I actually manually altered the XML file when transferring from Musescore to Notepad, so it should be up to NSM formatting standards. Let me know what you guys think! I wanna try using the same method for all of my other sub-par arrangements as well, so any feedback is appreciated.

Also, I re-did the OP, but that's not all that important...

Title: Re: Yug Guy's Arrangement Emporium (5/22/16 Under Maintenance)
Post by: Yug_Guy on May 22, 2016, 01:15:31 PM
So, as some of you might know, my older arrangements are a bit of a mess. Some were made solely in Finale Notepad, and suffer as a result, while some were made in Musescore before I realized that I needed to actually format it for Finale. And, some of them aren't necessarily the best arrangements I've ever done either.

So, I've decided to hold off arranging new stuff for a little while in favor of fixing up a lot of my older arrangements. For the most part, I want to get everything formatted correctly, but I will go back and change the music if I feel it's necessary. To start with, I've already fixed some of my Wario Land 4 arrangements. These include:

As of right now, any arrangement on the front page with the symbol † next to it is one I intend to fix over the next couple of weeks. They will be removed as I fix each individual arrangement. Check back to see what's updated next!

Two more replacements:
Go to the OP to find the links, ya dingus
While Gyromite was a fairly standard replacement, I decided to start Hill Stream Blues over from scratch. The original one was a huge mess, and I figured I'd spend more time fixing that one than if I started fresh. After all, nothing could possibly go wrong, right?

Also, I'm at 601 posts now. Neat.
Title: Re: Yug Guy's Arrangement Emporium (6/24/16 Updates & Suggestions)
Post by: Yug_Guy on June 24, 2016, 09:10:16 PM
Well, it's been a while, hasn't it? There's going to be a bit to read, so buckle up:

First, I have for the most part finished with my replacement project. Now, all of my arrangements should at the very least be formatted to NSM standards. While I've fixed most of my older arrangements, some of them I've either barely touched, or not even touched at all. I might get around to fixing some of those in the future, but certainly not anywhere in the foreseeable future. Similarly, I've also been updating my Undertale arrangements as they've been accepted into the official arrangement project.

Now, some of you might have noticed that I haven't put out any new arrangements in around two months. Initially this was due to a combination of both finals, as well as my replacement project. But now, I'm honestly all dried up creatively. I don't have any songs that I'm really gung-ho about doing right now. Except Asagao Academy, but that's a different story... Usually, I do songs from games that I've personally played & enjoyed, or songs that have piqued my interest (Pokemon Stadium being an example of the former, Bubsy being an example of the latter). However, I can't really think of any songs I want to do that haven't already been done by someone else already.

Which is why I've created this: Yug Guy's Suggestion Box (http://goo.gl/forms/2FNm6yHuDSWMz8fr1). With this, I'm asking the people of NSM for suggestions of songs or soundtracks to arrange from, or just suggestions in general. And, because it's through Google Forms, literally anyone can make suggestions, including casual lurkers of NSM. Don't let your opportunity be wasted! I just ask two things of you guys:
While I probably won't arrange absolutely every song suggestion I get, I will definitely try to arrange as many as I can. I know I can be a bit picky sometimes with the songs that I choose to arrange, but this time I'll be more open to suggestions. Please leave some sort of comment, even if only to say "hi."

And lastly, I just want to say thank you to all you guys. Without your help & encouragement, I don't know if I'd still have the patience or motivation to keep arranging. Here's to more arrangements in the future! tbh, I wanted to thank you guys when my account turned one year old, but I kind of missed the date, so... I guess this makes up for it? But seriously, thank you. Especially for putting up with frustratingly small text like this.

Title: Re: Yug Guy's Arrangement Emporium (7/9 - Fourside)
Post by: Yug_Guy on July 09, 2016, 08:39:16 AM
Thank you all for the suggestions! I got requests for some interesting songs, so look forward to that!

Anyway, one of the suggestions was to make some replacements for the EarthBound section. There are some pretty bad sheets in there right now, so I'm sure no one will mind if I make a few replacements. I've got all the songs I plan on replacing up on my future songs list in the OP. So, without further ado, I present the first of these replacements:

[SNES] The Metropolis of Fourside (EarthBound) - MUS (https://goo.gl/mBrYBZ) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/H7C3N4) - PDF (https://goo.gl/8R0r6l) - Original (https://goo.gl/wZvtPe) - NEW!!

This is probably my favorite city theme from EarthBound; it certainly feels like you're listening to a jazz group performing on a city street corner. There were a couple problems with this one, such as notes being held for an absurdly long time, and the accompaniment clashing with the baseline, so I had to find a few workarounds. Hopefully, it didn't turn out all that bad.
Title: Re: Yug Guy's Arrangement Emporium (7/16 - Buy Somethin')

I'm doing these songs in order of "needs replacing the most," to "needs replacing the least." I can say for certain that this one deserves a replacement.

[SNES] Buy Somethin' Will Ya! (EarthBound) - MUS (https://goo.gl/1eMflP) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/Wlsh3m) - PDF (https://goo.gl/8uTcuv) - Original (https://goo.gl/MDJgls) - NEW!!
Title: Re: Yug Guy's Arrangement Emporium (8/12 - Twoson & DPPt)
Post by: Yug_Guy on August 12, 2016, 05:53:15 PM
Much like the final installment in a major book series-to-film adaptation, this update comes to you in two parts:

[SNES] Boy Meets Girl (Twoson) (EarthBound) - MUS (https://goo.gl/zQWMfu) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/j899Ih) - PDF (https://goo.gl/CmsH6H) - Original (https://goo.gl/GZQxHI) - NEW!!

I'm noticing a trend in these Earthbound arrangements where the melody is played by horns much lower than melodies usually are, with accompaniment played much higher than usual. Needless to say, trying to make the melody and accompaniment playable with the same hand has been slowly chipping away at my sanity. Speaking of accompaniment, I've been having a bit of trouble with the guitar part(s) in this song, so please let me know if there's anything I could change or improve on.

[NDS] Pokémon Center (Night) (Pokémon Diamond Version & Pokémon Pearl Version) - MUS (https://goo.gl/Pa099h) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/HVrt3X) - PDF (https://goo.gl/6GRcYh) - Original (https://goo.gl/fFSh5J) - NEW!!
[NDS] Azure Flute (Pokémon Diamond Version & Pokémon Pearl Version) - MUS (https://goo.gl/sLba8M) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/XyMGI1) - PDF (https://goo.gl/Jr49g2) - Original (https://goo.gl/quZuUs) - NEW!!

Gen IV is best gen. Enough said.

This one turned out a lot better than I was initially expecting. Which is good, since I really like this song.

It's quite a long song, and I've gotten about half of it done already, but it'll take some time to get finished now that school's started. However, EarthBound won't be the only game I'll be making replacements for. Case and point:

At a whopping 8 pages & 121 measures, this is for sure the longest arrangement I think I've ever done. This isn't the easiest piece to arrange for piano, but I think I did a pretty good job of it. So sit back, relax, grab a bowl of trout yogurt, and listen to some pure, unadulterated Runaway Five.

I'm sure some of you know by now, but I'm going to be focusing a lot more on doing replacements for some of the more questionable sheets on site. Also, this is the first arrangement I've done entirely in Finale PrintMusic! Woohoo!
So wait, I chose a credits theme as the last song I did in Musescore, and chose a title theme for the first song I did in PrintMusic... I actually didn't plan this, and I'm only realizing it right now

I actually know nothing about this game whatsoever. Apparently it's a cult classic? In any case, the one thing I did know is that these sheets needed replacing. I had a bit of trouble with "Leaf Town", but after a bit of tinkering I think it turned out all right.

EDIT: Looks like this is my 700th post. Neat.

Confession time: I absolutely adore the song Pollyanna, especially the Catherine Warwick version. And while this isn't the version from EB Beginnings, this is certainly the next best thing.

Also, quick side note: I know my to-do list mentions Smiles & Tears, however, I won't be getting to it anytime soon. So if anyone wants to do a replacement in the near future, you have my go-ahead to do it.

Title: Re: Yug Guy's Arrangement Emporium (2/25 - 2 Year Anniversary Special)
Post by: Yug_Guy on February 25, 2017, 02:08:36 PM
Boy, time really flies, doesn't it?

Two years ago today, I decided to take the plunge and join a little website called NinSheetMusic. Since I had always had fun trying to figure out the melodies of different songs on the piano, I thought it might be fun to try and actually create full-blown arrangements instead of just dinking around on the piano. Well, two years and countless arrangements later, I've managed to accomplish what I only could have dreamed of just a couple years earlier.

In these past two years, I've had many good times, and I've had many bad times. But, in that time NSM has always been here for me. And in that time, I've grown to think of you guys as being really close friends. Thank you all for being such a wonderful community; for me and for countless others.

Okay, that's enough with the sappy sentimentality for now. Given that it's my 2-Year Anniversary, I figured I would do something special for the occasion. So, I've decided to do an arrangement that I've been wanting to do for a really long time:

And that arrangement is...
JOOOOOOOOHN CENA!

Okay, I'm actually being serious this time:

Pokémon Stadium [N64]
"Gym Leader Castle (Preliminary Battles) (Two Piano)" MUS (https://goo.gl/8HBK3i) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/Y9NqPr) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/Pu7Cqp) - PDF (https://goo.gl/OckYo1) - Original (https://goo.gl/S5ch6A) - NEW!!

This might just be my favorite song ever made for the Pokemon franchise, period. It takes Juni'chi Masuda's iconic Trainer Battle theme from R/B/Y, and amps it up to about 50. But more importantly, it's a song I hold very dear to me. I remember playing my N64 a lot as a child, and you can bet that I played the heck out of Pokemon Stadium. And for whatever reason, this song always stood out to me, enough that I now associate this song with my childhood.

Oh, there I go getting all sentimental again... well in any case, I had a lot of fun making this arrangement. Hopefully you guys can appreciate this as much as I do.

Also, it's my first two piano arrangement! I think it turned out pretty well.

Well, here's to 2 successful years on NSM, and to many more successful years to come!

Pokemon Stadium was actually developed by Nintendo EAD proper, so these three actually worked on the soundtrack (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Stadium)! It was one of the first games Minegishi worked on at Nintendo.

2 songs for the price of 1!

Perfect Dark [N64]
"Chicago: Stealth" (Replacement) MUS (https://goo.gl/r5lLJM) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/Z8dqIG) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/S4KmHq) - PDF (https://goo.gl/vlf1qz) - Original (https://goo.gl/DnmGLK) - NEW!!

In addition to the regular level theme, this song also has what I believe to be an "ambush" or "encounter" theme. Thus, why it sounds like it changes to a completely different song about 2/3 of the way through. But, seeing as the song doesn't really have much of an identity on its own, I figured I'd throw it in with the main level theme. Enjoy!

Also, I have a quick announcement to make: I'm going to be taking a short break from doing replacements. I've sorta burned out on doing replacements atm, and there's a few new songs I'd like to get done. But, I know I'll be back to doing more replacements sometime in the near future, so look forward to that! (Also, my replacements are still going to get top priority in my submissions, so that's not changing anytime soon)

Speaking of new arrangements:

Sonic the Hedgehog [GEN]
"Special Stage" MUS (https://goo.gl/2qhm9A) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/sL1efd) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/eF3TCL) - PDF (https://goo.gl/YNR4lT) - Original (https://goo.gl/08fphk) - NEW!!

I think I like the original Sonic the Hedgehog soundtrack a little too much. I can't quite put my finger on why, but I'll enjoy it nonetheless. These two songs in particular are favorites of mine; they're both light and airy, with just enough rhythm to keep 'em going.

And now for, 4 songs for the price of 1? No, that doesn't work... I'm just gonna stop talking for a little bit...

Ice Climber [NES]
"Game Start" MUS (https://goo.gl/2Mz7Bc) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/pBw31O) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/ULouj3) - PDF (https://goo.gl/DN91DD) - Original (https://goo.gl/PCpK25) - NEW!!

"Stage Theme" MUS (https://goo.gl/ox7y9H) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/bxlCK3) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/gPHUYj) - PDF (https://goo.gl/vjTW2M) - Original (https://goo.gl/nlST6t) - NEW!!
"Title Screen / Bonus Stage" MUS (https://goo.gl/YbhCny) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/KWXj1M) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/fZQ20T) - PDF (https://goo.gl/31vVnu) - Original (https://goo.gl/B5zZlI) - NEW!!

Y'know, despite the simplicity of the actual Ice Climber game, these songs were pretty damn hard to arrange. But then again, I'm not familiar enough with the blues scale that it just comes to me naturally, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Besides, you're getting a whole OST ...that's 4 songs long..., so be grateful!

Ayy, Perfect Dark is one of my favorite FPS games. Nice job with the arrangement! A few things to note:

- I'd flip the dotted half note in m19 (+ similar). I'm not sure if it's worth it to flip both half notes in m20 + similar ones as well
- I guess it's implied with the whole notes, but you could put con/senza pedale
- This is a very minor thing but instead of leaving the new 8va line from your copy/paste, you could just extend the first one (and also slightly extend it in m37 so the bracket would show)
- It's best to just put text/song names as either a new expression or part of the tempo mark so that it sticks with the measure. If you decide to insert it as a new expression, then you could put a box around it. The formatting/measure layout already seems good so I doubt it'll move, but I'm mostly letting you know for future references

Unfortunately, my version of Finale, Printmusic, doesn't allow for any nuanced pedal marks. Otherwise, I would totally add it.

Thanks for the tips; I'm still getting used to this whole "paid version" of Finale thing. And it's been how long since I've gotten it now? 6 months? Wonderful.
Title: Re: Yug Guy's Arrangement Emporium (3/14 - New EarthBound)
Post by: Yug_Guy on March 14, 2017, 04:40:58 PM
I just can't stay away from EarthBound, can I?

EarthBound [SNES]
"Apple Kid's Theme" MUS (https://goo.gl/u6UfZR) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/5DWf8F) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/VUhQbr) - PDF (https://goo.gl/iRIQES) - Original (https://goo.gl/pxlmDi) - NEW!!
"Sanctuary Guardian" MUS (https://goo.gl/zk7hLN) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/97KqtD) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/AJlaov) - PDF (https://goo.gl/x1wfcE) - Original (https://goo.gl/VL7Km4) - NEW!!

"Apple Kid's Theme" is probably one of the dopiest songs I've ever heard. In fact, that's what I came to associate this song with before I ever played EarthBound, from various online videos. It was too simple & too memorable for me not to arrange it.

EarthBound has some of the craziest, yet most awesome RPG battle themes ever. For me, "Sanctuary Guardian", the boss theme, is my favorite out of all of them. It's unique, it's funky, and it's just plain cool. That being said, it was a bit of a struggle to do this one. It's got some weird time signature shenanigans thrown in at seemingly random places, and there were a few rhythms & notes that I had some trouble identifying. Hopefully I managed to get them right (or at the very least, close enough). I also want to give my thanks to Latios212 for helping me implement the odd time signatures. You were a big help!

2064: Read Only Memories [MUL]
"Both Sides of the Law (TOMCAT's Theme) (Duet)" MUS (https://goo.gl/56E6ug) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/XJ0KHa) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/l9HCwI) - PDF (https://goo.gl/9lRVf0) - Original (https://goo.gl/OwGIyv) - NEW!!
"Read Only Memories (Piano Theme)" MUS (https://goo.gl/EKi6UX) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/MKScRP) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/E589sV) - PDF (https://goo.gl/GVPikb) - Original (https://goo.gl/Z7WQWY) - NEW!!
"Turing's Sadness" MUS (https://goo.gl/ry1FEH) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/K1CVes) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/ToQdve) - PDF (https://goo.gl/7GLj0e) - Original (https://goo.gl/ijwfvS) - NEW!!
"Turing's Theme" MUS (https://goo.gl/ETHbKy) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/LHU1fR) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/mWb360) - PDF (https://goo.gl/BYfR3Z) - Original (https://goo.gl/UCZykp) - NEW!!

After getting the "Humble Freedom Bundle" a while back, I decided the first game I would play would be 2064: Read Only Memories; a game I had heard in passing, but didn't really know much about. Needless to say, I fell in love with the game, its characters, and most important of all, its music. It's got a pretty sweet 80's-inspired soundtrack, with everything from funk to chillwave. It's definitely worth a listen.

One minor thing to note is that there's a funky thing going on with the soundtrack versions of these songs: after checking the in-game jukebox, I found out that the in-game versions of songs & their soundtrack counterparts are not the same. So, the songs might deviate from the soundtrack a bit; in that case I'm just using the in-game loop.

In all honesty, I could probably gush about this game & it's soundtrack for hours on end, but I'm going to leave it at this for now. Do look into this game if you're a fan of point-and-click adventures, cyberpunk, transhumanism, or some combination of the three.

Much like the legendary triforce from the Legend of Zelda series, this update comes to you in three parts:

1) Earthworm Jim [GEN]
   "Buttville ~ The Descent" MUS (https://goo.gl/bByjfc) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/bR4Tvq) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/h3KTM3) - PDF (https://goo.gl/VdEAAi) - Original (https://goo.gl/DtxiH3) - NEW!!

I only really know about this song from browsing r/gifsound frequently. That's about it.

2) After doing some thinking, I've decided to reorganize my arrangements by alphabetical order, instead of by release date. I figure this will be a better organizing method going forward.

3) I'm probably going to do one or two more new arrangements, and then I'll get back to mainly doing replacements. While I have some idea about the kinds of songs I want to replace, I decided I wanted to get community suggestions as well. So introducing, Yug Guy's Replacement Suggestions (https://goo.gl/forms/ww72lawvMpLmyfUw2)! Once again, because this is Google Froms, literally anyone can leave a suggestion, including random lurkers! (That means you, Billy (http://2static2.fjcdn.com/comments/And+so+are+you+billy+_5aa40b565bae7ee42a3cd3922f209e06.png).) I encourage anyone and everyone to leave suggestions! *winkwinknudgenudge*

Ciao!

And now for two songs that have nothing to do with each other (except for their BPM, by sheer coincidence):

Final Fantasy [NES]
"Victory" MUS (https://goo.gl/JKarO8) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/x090Z8) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/Yn6hfr) - PDF (https://goo.gl/S6Lvm5) - Original (https://goo.gl/8LfFqL) - NEW!!

I'm surprised that this song isn't on the main site yet. It's a fairly simply song, so I figured I might as well do it.

Sonic & Knuckles [GEN]
"Act One Boss" MUS (https://goo.gl/NdAzCX) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/2jn3yK) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/Lv8unO) - PDF (https://goo.gl/eAfVWI) - Original (https://goo.gl/J13HaJ) - NEW!!

...I really need to play Sonic & Knuckles at some point...

Also, quick reminder: if you haven't yet filled out Yug Guy's Replacement Suggestions (https://goo.gl/forms/ww72lawvMpLmyfUw2), I highly recommend you to do so. Thanks to the suggestions I've already gotten, I've front-loaded my to-do list with Kirby and Donkey Kong replacements (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y8yTyRZiY0WwGuqTYNGrWULuyJu7L0uUPp4Dfh-x32U/edit?usp=sharing). It's quite simple, Levi: I can read your thoughts. So you'd better not be thinking of anything... naughty

I put down in the In-Progress Topic II that I'm revising my first draft of this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9k3zVA4zX8g) to make sure it's rhythmically accurate. Losing some of it to a so-called USB stick "repair" sucked...
(Unfortunately, I think I'll be forced to make part of it mildly rhythmically inaccurate just to make it more easily readable.)

Update: Since I didn't use my USB stick for a while again, it suffered from corruption again and, this time, my second draft was completely irrecoverable (along with several of my other music files, including my set for the most recent arrangement contest here) post-"repair". I'll have to do it again from memory and save it into my computer and/or the cloud this time.

Happy 4/20! Time to celebrate with a character who... eats a lot of food, I guess? idk, this joke is going nowhere.

Kirby Super Star [SNES]
"Dynablade Overworld" (Replacement) MUS (https://goo.gl/i0yEJR) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/NmJgzZ) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/anxIoF) - PDF (https://goo.gl/OnGQUA) - Original (https://goo.gl/8mmhYj) - NEW!!
"Peanut Plain" (Replacement) MUS (https://goo.gl/Aw9uRJ) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/l83OSF) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/mo61Iz) - PDF (https://goo.gl/OZW8Ix) - Original (https://goo.gl/w68L1k) - NEW!!

I also had a replacement for Cocoa Caves in-progress, but it was so tedious & frustrating that I just kinda stopped. If anyone's planning on doing a replacement for this one in the near future, I'd be more than willing to lend you what I have so far as a jumping-off point. But as for me, I'm through with this piece.

So if anyone needs me for something anytime soon, I'll be monkeying around somewhere else.

I'd trust an official CD more than GilvaSunner. Meddlesome Marx - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w086IM8raV8) But thanks so much for letting me take it! :D

P.S.: I don't blame you for giving up on Cocoa Cave - that one section seems tricky to arrange into anything on piano.

Also, some of these Super Star sheets could really use some staccatos.

Case by case basis, really. If there's no official title available, then generally the most commonly used (if accurate) title is used.

Exactly. I happen to be arranging two songs that are a great example of this. Attacking the Boss from Twilight Princess and Scaldera/Tentalus (Vulnerable) from Skyward Sword. Neither have official titles, so the best option is to go with what is most used. Either that or whichever is more accurate to what the song is used for (i.e. Scaldera/Tentalus (Vulnerable)).

Usually, yes, but if you're looking for the most accurate/official title, some good spots to check that I use are the Nintendo Wiki (http://nintendo.wikia.com), Video Game Music Preservation Foundation (http://www.vgmpf.com), and VGMdb (http://vgmdb.net). There's plenty more as well, but sites like these can help when looking for correct titles, composers, and arrangers. Hope this helps!

But how commonly used? If one song title is made up by a YouTube user (i.e. GilvaSunner), it could set off a bunch of remixers to use the same title, making the majority rule biased. If GilvaSunner titled Patched Plains from Kirby: Planet Robobot "Stage 1-1", everyone would believe him. And it's not reliable enough to translate Japanese text in the game's files. It's all conjectural. Official CDs are the most reliable sources we have for English titles. OR the composers. I wouldn't trust Nintendo Wiki, Video Game Music Preservation Foundation, or VGMdb unless I knew they were edited by the direct sources themselves.

If you bothered checking those sites, you'd know that VGMdb only posts actual albums that were released to the public, and VGMPF aims for the most official title when possible. You really ought to use these resources.

Except VGMdb isn't strictly OFFICIAL albums of the original music. It's mildly disappointing to see albums full of remixes and not reliable ones with valuable song titles I want. And VGMPF already contains song titles proved wrong by members of this site; it's also missing quite a few games. No website's perfect, though.

There's normally at least one source that lists a title that makes logical sense. If all else fails, defer to personal judgement on what sounds clear and concise.

Fun fact! Even though Donkey Kong Country had an official soundtrack release, the iconic jingle that plays when winning a bonus stage or defeating a boss doesn't have an official name! Super Smash Bros. Brawl [Wii]
"Sticker Album / Album / Chronicle" (Replacement) MUS (https://goo.gl/iRh94z) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/AyPa8n) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/QzKNLg) - PDF (https://goo.gl/WxLwwy) - Original (https://goo.gl/NWKtKb) - NEW!!
"Trophy Gallery" (Replacement (sorta)) MUS (https://goo.gl/bvCz7n) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/wwyLTA) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/iq2spW) - PDF (https://goo.gl/XpHrAk) - Original (https://goo.gl/sKCkz4) - NEW!!

Two songs I've been meaning to do for quite some time now. The reason "Trophy Gallery" only sorta counts as a replacement is because there are two copies of the sticker album theme on site. So naturally, if I were to replace them, I'd replace one of the sticker album sheets with my sticker album sheet, and I'd replace the other sticker album sheet with my trophy gallery sheet.

Confused? I certainly hope not...

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U [MUL]
"Famicom Medley" MUS (https://goo.gl/52HIhp) - MUSX (https://goo.gl/8zr4AD) - MIDI (https://goo.gl/sl0h5z) - PDF (https://goo.gl/2YhHlP) - Original (https://goo.gl/F3Vj2Y) - NEW!!

I don't know why, but I've always been drawn to medleys, and the ones that have appeared in Brawl and Smash 4 are no exception. In addition to doing more replacements, I'm planning on interspersing some of the medleys that appeared in Smash 4 (i.e., the Namco Retro Medleys).

As for this song in particular... I like the Brawl one better. It used a lot more obscure songs, and was overall better paced. But I guess this one's okay.

Yeah, this is a long one.

Out of all the Final Fantasy games, the only one I've played so far is FFVII, but man have I certainly enjoyed it. The overworld theme definitely captures all of the elements of it so far - somewhat peaceful & thoughtful, with the threat of impeding danger always lurking just behind. I won't ramble too much longer; I don't want this spiel to end up longer than the song itself. :P

While the rest of the NES Final Fantasy sheets on site don't really need replacing, I decided to make these in order to round out what we already have. These are (for the most part) some pretty iconic songs, and I'm honestly kinda surprised some of them haven't been done yet. Well, I guess they're done now.

Now, do you guys want me to keep going with this Final Fantasy binge into the SNES era? Or, are you sick and tired of all these FF arrangements and want me to do something else instead?

Oh, it's nice to see these arranged! I'm surprised they weren't on-site.

The bitter-sweet FFII themes have always been some of my favorites. It'd be really nice to have an arrangement that includes the rest of the FFII main theme heard in later versions (when the guitars come in), too.
Title: Re: Yug Guy's Arrangement Emporium (12/17 - FF6 Battle Theme)

Well, looks like I finally reached the 40,000 character limit in my OP. Means I'm doing something good, right? Anyway, here's today's song:

Final Fantasy VI [SNES]
"Battle"MUS (https://goo.gl/TaSxz6)MUSX (https://goo.gl/ZvQLEY)MIDI (https://goo.gl/qTfqKF)PDF (https://goo.gl/nBWjtN)Original (https://goo.gl/pJkctD)NEW!!

I know I've been doing these battle themes in chronological order, but I decided to skip to this one first because it surprisingly isn't on site at all. Weird, right?

And just fyi - For the SNES FF games, I'll probably only be doing the regular encounter themes & the regular boss battle themes. If anyone wants to do any of the other battle themes (Battle w/the Four Fiends, Battle to the Death, etc.), then be my guest.

Happy Winter Solstice! I figured I'd use the opportunity to do at least one winter-themed song this year:

I'll be honest - even though I've had this game since I was a kid, I was never very good at it. Something about the controls are just a bit wonky for me. But hey, at least it's got good music.

And there we go: all the regular/miniboss battle themes from Final Fantasy 1-6! (except for FF5's miniboss theme, because I don't feel like it)

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what to do next. I would love to do a bunch more songs from Final Fantasy (because my FF binge still hasn't subsided yet), but I feel like doing a bunch more would turn into me doing my own arrangement project, which I don't think I want to do by myself. Thoughts?

I have no idea how long it might take me to finish them, but it likely won't be anytime soon. Until then, I ask that you please understand for any break in activity.

Yeah, I was looking through NSM a little while ago & got the urge to start doing Star Fox replacements. I was surprised no one had done Corneria specifically, but hey, at least that means I get to take a crack at it, right? The arrangement itself came out somewhat interesting - while the song really isn't that busy in terms of notes, the soundfonts chosen make the song seem a lot bigger than it actually is. Though, it does leave the piano arrangement weak by comparison...

Oh yeah, speaking of which: does anyone know what song "Ending" (http://www.ninsheetmusic.org/download/pdf/785) by Brassman388 on site is supposed to be? Because I looked through the soundtrack and could not find the song that corresponds to the arrangement.

Looks neat! There's a fair amount you can do to spice it up though. What makes the original sound distinctive? Well, looking at that intro, there's a strong pulse in the bass, so you could make every other note octaves. In the following section, the kick drum (or whatever you call it) emphasizes beats 2 and 4, so emphasize that in your left hand part as well. Raise the G an octave, or play an octave, or something. Experiment and see what you can do to improve the sound.

Oh, and accidentals in m. 21 - yes, it's chromatically ascending A>A#>B, but it's just so much easier to read the A# chord as a Bb chord (also notes in the Bb chord are also already in the keysig).

Aw man, I just realized that Dekudude and my collab isn't the site one :( We had a kickass version back in the day. Anyway, your arrangement mirrors the on-site version's error in measures 38-40; it should be in two measures of 5/4, not two bars of 4/4 and one bar of 2/4.

Title: Re: Yug Guy's Arrangement Emporium (1/5 - Sonic Songs from the Vault)
Post by: Yug_Guy on January 05, 2019, 03:50:35 PM
So, a long time ago, Sebastian asked if I wanted to do a project involving the OG Sonic games. Since I already had so many arrangements done, I decided to say yes. That project eventually got lumped in with Seb's arranger-focused projects. I never uploaded these to my PA thread because I kinda wanted to surprise people when the update eventually dropped, but since idk what the state of the project is atm, I figured I might as well upload them now:

Sonic & Knuckles [GEN]
"Sandopolis Zone Act 1" (Replacement)MUS (https://tinyurl.com/yco39mde)MUSX (https://tinyurl.com/ybs5c8an)MIDI (https://tinyurl.com/y8ka7nys)PDF (https://tinyurl.com/y94nguey)Original (https://tinyurl.com/yalw85ot)NEW!!

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 [GEN]
"Mystic Cave Zone 2P" (Replacement)MUS (https://tinyurl.com/y8mdl63o)MUSX (https://tinyurl.com/ybbuwsls)MIDI (https://tinyurl.com/ybuvpc8c)PDF (https://tinyurl.com/y74t24wj)Original (https://tinyurl.com/y83d6kjs)NEW!!

There are also 1 or 2 other songs which are in much worse condition. Maybe one day I'll fix them up to be posted? We'll see.

Yes, I'm being pedantic and filing "Fanfare" under Rose of Winter. Deal with it.

I know it's a bit late to be doing Deltarune stuff, but I said I would do these, and now here they are. Let me know what you guys think - I tried something different with "THE HOLY" specifically.

I've just been told in the past to make bar numbers invisible. How do you reset them? ???

Also, a side note: your sheet still says "transcription by" instead of "arrangement by". Just something I thought I'd point out.

Go onto Edit Measure Number Regions... (highlighted) and it will say Region 1, measure 1 to 9999 -- Display As: '1 - 9999.  That means that the first 9999 measures are designated as region 1 and they will display with numbers 1-9999.  You can add more regions and have them display as whatever you want to.  This means you could choose the first 7 measures to display as 1-7, then choose the next 5 to display as 1-5, then choose measures 13-24 (BGM) to display as 1-12 etc etc.  That will make all of your bar numbers look correct!  Hope that helps.
