Title: Best and Worst Songs you have ever heard in your life
Post by: Sirus on February 25, 2008, 05:51:11 PM
Favorites:
Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Wizard of Winter for rock
Gerudo Valley and the famous mario theme for video game
Bach's Double Violin Concerto for classical

Worst:
most songs with cussing in them
(like that Avenged Sevenfold song that said f*** and motherf***** several minutes straight)

I really don't see why anyone would hate a song just because there's "bad" words in it. Usually it just makes the emotion of the song even greater. Then again you have to look at it philosophically, what is a bad word? Take the f word for example, it actually means other things in other languages and it actually means to thrust, which isn't a bad word at all. Then you look at words like shit which are somehow bad words, but when you say other words that mean the exact same thing like poop, poo or caca for some reason it's fine to say it.

Anyways.

Favorites:
My taste changes all the time, but right now, anything from the album Fortress by Protest the Hero and anything by Between the Buried and Me. Amazing instrument technicality as well as amazing lyrics. I'd even throw in Dream Theater in there just for how they put so much thought in making their albums and how EVERYTHING from the song names, to the song placement, to which note each song starts and ends and even to the album cover artwork is all thought out to make everything fit together and major props on the Octavarium album how they made every part of it follow the golden ratio.

Worst:
Almost anything mainstream. I just hate how the mainstream industry "manufactures" artists to follow a recipe to success, only makes music for major profit and will do anything to screw off the fans for their greedy needs.

Best songs:  Bulls On Parade, Testify, Sleep Now in the Fire, How I Could Just Kill a Man.  All by Rage Against the Machine, all filled with swearing.   ;)  Also, Holy Diver by Killswitch Engage.

Worst:  Rehab by Amy Whinehouse, seriously, what the hell.  Also those rap songs that all sound the same (usually a guy singing high about having sex with a girl after meeting her at the club.)

Best: Toccata and Fugue in D Minor(though I don't like calling it a "song")

Worst: too many to describe, let's just say everything in the pure rap genre, with the exception of fort minor.

Best: Most Muse songs and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.  Also Harvest's list.

Worst: Every fucking rap song.  We need to kill every person that listens and sings rap to stop it.  It isn't music, its a bunch of retards attempting poetry. (see what I did there?  8))

I also really want to see one of their shows.

Are they actually going to quit?  I was really hoping for another album, because they got back together and all doing shows.

You forgot 'Please Don't Stop The Music' from Rihanna, it was played like two times an hour. And the lyrics are very.. profound: Please don't stop the music, please don't stop the music, please don't stop the music, please don't stop the music, please don't stop the music, please don't stop the music, please don't stop the music, please don't stop the music, please don't stop the music, please don't stop the music *and repeat!*

im not sure why people like her so much
you should see the people overreacting that Hannah Montana is coming to the rodeo in Houston
she's just a blondie wanna-be (FYI her hair is a wig)

OH YEAH
i forgot to mention that Weird Al is one of my favorite American singers (his songs are funny) because most American songs have no point except for the guitar solos in some songs like Iced Earth's Angel's Holocaust
OMG THAT SONG IS AWESOME!

:O yeah you're right, also Thoughts of a Dying Atheist, Apocalypse Please, Exo-Politics, and Assassin.

Hannah Montana is an insult to anything and everything and must be exterminated.
Weird Al is great to listen to for fun, with great songs like Christmas at Ground Zero, Weasel Stomping Day, Canadian Idiot, You're Pitiful, all his old random songs, etc.

My theory is that somehow the genre came to be "cool" and people only listen to it to be "cool" while nobody really likes it at all.

I can understand how guys feel about, Hannah Montana being over publicized and way too popular, but you have to realize that she IS BILLY RAY CYRUS'S daughter.  If it weren't for that, and it was some other teen pop star that played the role, then it would be hardly as popular.  Realize its the parents that are spending the money for the merchandise and concert tickets and they're doing it not only for there kids but also because they like Billy Ray.  Anyways, I've seen the television show once (got to know your enemy) and it really is pretty bad, as are all Disney shows nowadays...

lol
BUT AMERICAN RAP IS GAY
Korean rap is meh... ok, so-so 4/10

RAP is a waste of time and most rappers dont even say half the words correctly it sounds like they're muttering something indistinctively and half of it is swearing and yo, man, and other slang (not that slang is bad)
BUT that's just my opinion

Country is boring, what's best is some nice Heavy Metal or Rock.

Slipknot, Metallica, etc.

Quote from: marvolo_gaunt on March 02, 2008, 12:50:56 AMThere are way too many songs for me to name.

Best Songs:
Classical (though these are "pieces" not "songs"): Canon in D Major (Pachelbel), Spring and Winter from the Four Seasons (Vivaldi), Le Cygne (Saint-Saens), Clair de Lune (Debussy), Sonata in D Minor (Scarlatti), Brandenburg Concerto in G Major (Bach), The Lark Quartet (Haydn), Adagio in G Minor (Albinoni), Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (Bach), Air on G String (Bach), Liebestraume (Liszt), Hungarian Dances (Brahms), On the Winds of Song, Spring Song (Mendelssohn), Carmen: The Toreadors (Bizet), Lohengrin: Prelude to Act 1 (Wagner), The Sorcerer's Apprentice (Dukas), Fire Dance (de Falla),  Concerto in A Minor and In the Hall of the Mountain King (Greig), Symphony No. 5, Moonlight Sonata mvt. 3, Symphony no. 6, Fuer Elise (Beethoven)
The Blue Danube (Strauss II), "Un Bal" from Symphonie Fantastique (Berlioz), Nocturne in E Flat, Fantasie Impromptu, Etude No. 5 Op. 10 in Gb Major (Black Keys) and Waltz in C Sharp Minor(Chopin),
Gymnopedies no. 1 (Satie)

*takes breath*

Mozart: Symphonies 25, 40, 41, Piano Concertos no. 10 and 21, Concerto for Flute and Harp, Exsultate Jubilate, Die Zauberfloete (Main Theme, "Ein Maedchen oder Weibchen"), Mass in C Minor "Great", Requiem Mass "Dies Irae" and "Lacrymosa dies Ilia", Allegro/Serenade from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Horn Concerto No. 4, Bassoon Concerto in Bb and Clarinet Concerto in A

Cat Stevens, Led Zeppelin, Queen and Michael Jackson.

Worst: Rap, Hip Hop and the VERONICAS (must DIE).

lol
rap must die!!!

and you have the best taste in classical music i hvae ever seen
those songs rock (but Vivaldi's summer pwns spring)
oh yeah were playing Sym No.25 by WA Mozart in orchestra

Thank you very much. That is a great compliment.

Unfortunately, I forgot to add Tchaikovsky in there, which I'm horrified at. Piano Concerto no. 1 in Bflat Minor, Dance of the Reed Flutes, Theme from Swan Lake and Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy.

A couple of others I forgot about. Night on Bald Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky (check out Boris Berezovsky's performance on youtube) Rhapsody in Blue (Gershwin), Moment Musical (Schubert) and Radetsky March (Strauss I). In May I'm seeing the Jupiter and Alpine Symphonies, and I am yet to hear the Alpine Symphony, so I'm very excited for that. Later, in July, I'm going to a performance of Don Giovanni (both at the Sydney Opera House in Australia).

And yes, Mvt. 3 of Summer is very good. My favourite parts in each of the seasons are Spring- Mvt 1, Winter- Mvt 1, Autumn- Mvt 3 and Summer- Mvt 3

Actually, I'm pretty certain the average intelligence is pretty far down there.  Especially when you hear some of the lyrics of these songs.
