The PM AP has finally reached completion, congratulations! Consequently, this is a topic to discuss which game should be featured for the next Arrangement Project. Here's a breakdown of the steps we'll be following:
- Every user shall nominate a single game so it is added to the poll. If possible, it'd be nice if you could explain why you chose that game, it could always convince other users to pick your option!
- Once we reach 15 game nominations, the poll will open to voting. Every user can vote up to 3 options. Past 10 days, it will be closed, and the game with most votes will be the one chosen for the next AP. If there are more than one games with the same number of votes, a second round will take place with just those games.
- Another topic will be created specifically for the AP in question.
Nominations will be added below:
-
Xenoblade Chronicles (Maelstrom)
-
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (NocturneOfShadow)
-
Kirby Super Star Ultra (AwesomeYears)
-
Mario Kart 8 (mariolegofan)
-
Pokémon X & Pokémon Y (SlowPokemon)
-
Pokémon HeartGold & Pokémon SoulSilver (Latios212)
-
Star Fox 64 (JDMEK5)
-
Earthbound Beginnings (DonValentino)
-
Final Fantasy IX (Brawler4Ever)
-
Mega Man X5 (Tobbeh99)
-
Kirby's Epic Yarn (Nebbles)
-
New Super Mario Bros. Wii (videogaminglegodude)
-
Super Smash Bros. Melee (Bespinben)
-
Sonic and the Black Knight (Boost the Cat)
-
Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Olimar12345)
Olimar12345: for record purposes, here's the link to the old thread: http://forum.ninsheetmusic.org/index.php?topic=6389.0
With 15 options, I feel 3 votes per user would be adequate.
This sounds like the perfect way to do it.
I will nominate Xenoblade Chronicles, once and for all time.
Why I think the Xenoblade Chronicles soundtrack is so good
First and foremost, it is a soundtrack you can listen to and enjoy easily without playing the game. There are a few songs it helps to know the context for, but the majority of the pieces are beautiful background pieces and battle themes.
Here's a playlist of the entire soundtrack on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3B0F9C2198D26DBA).
The soundtrack is split up into two 2-disc parts. The first half has all the songs that take place durring cutscenes, while the second half has all the field themes and battle music. As such, as a whole, the 2nd half is much more interesting than the first half.
Why do I think this soundtrack is so excellent? For one, nearly all of the songs are arrangeable, despite being string based for the most part. Secondly, there is a vast variety of music, ranging from epic string songs, to guitar battle themes, to
this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjiAWFOq_-E). Additionally, the songs range in difficulty quite a bit. This way, everyone can find something to fit their arranging skills and their taste in style. Did I mention Yoko Shimomura did a few of the songs?
Finally, some song samples to back up my lengthy opinions:
If you just listen to one, listen to this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNR-wsFAfiU&).

I apologize for the large amount of songs I just dumped here. I find it really hard to chose a favorite or something that best describes the soundtrack as a whole.
extra note: Xenoblade Chronicles is quite popular, as noted by the popularity rating on the site. The main problem with it is just the size of the soundtrack. It's pretty obvious that we would get nowhere near to the completion of the entire soundtrack. And, as a side note, nearly all the videos in the soundtrack have 50% more views than when I last looked at it a few months ago. So there's that too.
Other stuff I'd like to nominate, but can only choose one:
Bravely Default
Fire Emblem Awakening
If anyone decides to nominate one of these, they have my full support.
Quote from: Olimar12345 on July 04, 2015, 01:58:42 PMWith 15 options, I feel 3 votes per user would be adequate.
Good, 3 votes it is!
I nominate
Earthbound Beginnings.
Pros:
- Relatively short and accessible 8-bit soundtrack.
- With the ones we have on site, it should be done in a breeze.
- Popular franchise and relatively popular tunes.
- Recently revived through the VC.
Cons:
- Old game, old soundtrack.
- Not very known game in the series, others may prefer Earthbound or M3.
Final Fantasy IX
Here's why
Final Fantasy IX is considered by many fans of the series to be Square Enix's greatest work (until that time, arguably). It is the culmination of over a decade of history that references each piece in its own right. From showing the Warring Triad from Final Fantasy 6 to allowing the heroes to go after 4 crystals (the pieces of Alexander, technically), its music outshines its predecessors through experience and emotional depth. Consider Loss of Me (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytvvE2QrvR4&list=PL8q2b-XwaZZMfciAUY29i-wlwIXLQBdnA&index=72) or Bittesweet Romance (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ms2Vd-IcaSI&index=133&list=PL8q2b-XwaZZMfciAUY29i-wlwIXLQBdnA). Both tell a story in their own right. And, for the musical adept, they can find great pleasure in arranging songs like Melodies of Life (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrR0xdWgbPA&index=138&list=PL8q2b-XwaZZMfciAUY29i-wlwIXLQBdnA) or Eternal Harvest (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1Z24slVb5U&list=PL8q2b-XwaZZMfciAUY29i-wlwIXLQBdnA&index=67). Heck, even the Title Theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIyeMkCsG6E&list=PL8q2b-XwaZZMfciAUY29i-wlwIXLQBdnA&index=1) would be fun to arrange.
Here is the entire playlist (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8q2b-XwaZZMfciAUY29i-wlwIXLQBdnA).
I've already started on Loss of Me and Vivi's Theme of my own accord, and would greatly appreciate the full force of NSM completing this masterpiece of a game!
Other honorable mentions:
Final Fantasy 7
Diddy Kong Racing
I nominate Mega Man X5
It's a game that got a good rocky soundtrack, and there are no sheets at all from the game on site.

Added all the nominations so far. Please share your choices everyone, first come, first serve, and we just have 5 places left!
I'll nominate Kirby's Epic Yarn, the OST is amazing and has a lot of great songs, and would be a lot of fun to do. We already have a few songs done, anyway, so I don't see why not.

*These are from the old AP discussion thread (http://forum.ninsheetmusic.org/index.php?topic=6389.0), and since they were nominated some time ago, their respective user may change them, but only once, in case they have changed their minds. Still, they're valid.
from this, I can only see 11 nominations. does that mean that more can be submitted?
Yes I guess.
"2. Once we reach 15 game nominations, the poll will open to voting."
Doesn't matter to me. Whatever game is picked I'll arrange as many as I can just as hardcore as I did with Paper Mario.
OK. I want to suggest new super mario bros wii. I fell that this song has a lot of great tunage, like the title theme, final boss 2, beach overworld, and lots more. also, there are several requests for tunes from this game, and we are only at 5 LOUSY TUNES RIGHT NOW!!!!! so, I think that we could use some others.
P.S. I also happen to know that mariolegofan has several arrangements from this game.(shojut out to marioLF for loopdeloop galaxy! :D)

FYI if you really want to play the New Super Mario Bros. Wii soundtrack, you can buy the official piano solo book (which includes EXCELLENT, Nintendo-approved arrangements of many of the soundtrack's pieces) for between $10-15.
Super Smash Bros. Melee.
I refuse to see our former efforts vanish! (http://forum.ninsheetmusic.org/index.php?topic=3814.msg123520#msg123520)
I doubt this stands a chance, but here we go: I nominate Sonic and the Black Knight for the Arrangement Project.
First off, the Sonic section of this site is EXTREMELY lacking. There are many great games that don't have any songs on this site at all (Sonic Adventure being one of them, along with Sonic CD, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Colors, and Sonic Lost World.) Though Sonic and the Black Knight wasn't exactly that popular, the SOUNDTRACK was quite unlike any other Sonic soundtrack ever released.
Here are some samples:

Simply amazing.
Vote "Sonic and the Black Knight" for the next Official Arrangement Project!
Added. Only one left, gogogo!

may I point out that you called it new super mario bros, which is a completely different game from new super mario bros WII! even if they are sequels. no offense, but could you kindly change it?
My bad, it should be changed in a sec.
Hm actually Kirby is pretty well represented so I'll nominate Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver.
Very well, changed.

edit: I'm going to be a little upset if this turns into a "pokemon beats all" like the replacement project voting did.
When do we start voting?

Quote from: mariolegofan on July 06, 2015, 08:01:58 AMWhen do we start voting?
When all the votes are in. my question is, how does the voting work. I know you get 3 votes, but can you vote for you own topic? can you vote for a topic more than once? and how do you cast your vote in the first place?!?!?! I feel like the only guy here who is a nintendo newbie and not a nintendo nocturne or whatever rank everyone seems to be at right now except me.
Calm down. There will be a poll at the top of the page when it's ready. Note that you cannot vote while using tapatalk.
If we're still in need of another nomination, I'd suggest Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
If it's like other voting systems that I've seen here, you check any 3 games. These can include your own, but it is not possible to vote for the same game more than once. The poll has already been created, Don just needs to open it. And since Olimar just posted the last video game, it will be opened when Don next looks at this topic. :)

Indeed, that's how voting will be. However, I'd suggest waiting a little longer to open the poll to give to the people who made the old nominations enough time to reconsider their choices if they want. If there are no changes in a while, it should be open soon enough though!
I say we start now :p
I actually think Animal Crossing New Leaf would be a great one to do.
Ok, no more changes allowed. The poll will open soon, as soon as Olimar finishes tweaking the poll options a little thanks to his godly mod powahs.
le poll fix
Thanks to Olimar, the poll is alive and kickin'! Don't forget to cast your vote(s) before it closes!
Voted! It was a bit tricky to decide my third vote, but I'm happy with my choices.
Lowkey hoping Anima Crossing wins, I've been meaning to submit my 1 PM arrangement for a while and it would be fun to do more from that game.

How long is voting gonna go on for?
Until July 16th.
That seems awfully long. Wouldn't just a week be adequate?
So, I know the poll is up already, but I'm gonna start lobbying for next time by reminding everyone that I'm a hipster and did this before it was cool. (http://forum.ninsheetmusic.org/index.php?topic=4071.msg132650#msg132650)

Anywho, I voted.
After discussing, we've agreed that a week is enough time, as suggested. So instead of the 16th, it will close on the 13th.

Whoops! It was close to midnight my time, so I guess I considered it an hour until the poll closed.
But still, VOTE!
Well, there we go. And the winner is... Animal Crossing New Leaf!
Well that was unexpected. A pleasant surprise though.
Didn't see that coming at all.
Just want say Huge Thanks to THAT ONE PERSON who voted on my nomination Mega Man X5!!! My nomination may not have won, came second or even third, in fact it came last place, but it really made my day seeing that ONE PERSON voted on my nomination!!!! ^^
I actually considered nominating AC:NL myself, so this is a welcome suprise. :)
And thanks to all those people who voted for Sonic and the Black Knight! I honestly didn't think it would get that far, so I'm very grateful. Maybe it will win next time! ;D
Also, I can't remember if K.K. Dixie is AC:NL, but I'm already working on that one. Just thought I'd let you guys know.
Hey, at least it's not Pokemon again.
"Again?" Also Pokémon music is INCREDIBLE you FIEND
(really tho I've been playing the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire album in my car while delivering and man it's so good)

It's one of those soundtracks I can't bring myself to care about without playing the game.
On the other hand, there are soundtracks like Xenoblade Chronicles, which I got a few tracks from because I liked them so much before I even knew that much about the game.
It's just my opinion, so feel free to disagree.
I have nothing against pokémon, but even thou I've played 1,2,3'd generations, I think we already have a lot of pokémon sheets on site and that there a lot of arrangers whom are interested in arranging pokémon music, so I'm happy that pokémon didn't win. I'm really not interested in Animal Crossing at all, haven't played any of those games, but the soundtrack seems really good in the sense that there are a lot of easy themes, so it might be accessible for all kinds of arrangers, beginners as well as experienced.
Yes, Animal Crossing.....not my first choice, but still hyped!
That many people voted for Mario Kart 8? :o
Aww no EB? Oh well.

Correct. I forgot to adress that.
This is a good happy medium because even though it's not everyone's favorite, it was in a LOT of peoples' top three.
Exactly!
So, should this be archived, or...?
We could use it for the next APs.
Nah, we can make a new topic. Moving to the archive.
