Mewtwo, in my opinon, was one of my favorite characters in melee (being equal to Ice Climbers and topped by Mr. Game and Watch). I think Nintendo ignored our pleas, and replaced a perfectly good character with a slightly uncool character, Lucario.
My thought? I think they both could've been in. :-) But Nooooooooooooooo!
My thoughts? I hated just about every character that you just said. I didn't like Mewtwo, Ice Climbers, Game and Watch, or Lucas. But I'm happy with Lucario. (And I hate Ness, btw)
Mewtwo loked cool and stuff, but I never used him/it/her as a...character that I would duel my friends with. I was never really good with him.

I loved using Mr Game and Watch, Mewtwo and Pichu against my friends.
Now I still love using Mr Game and Watch because he's so good!
people also wanted dixie kong, geno, ridley, dark samus, krystal, isaac, black shadow etc... but none of them were in the game (as playable chars...)

plenty of chars could have been in... no sense in complaining cause' they weren't, you won't be able to change anything...
You have terrible tastes. The Ice climbers were terrible in melee, and Game and Watch was just a filler character. Mewtwo was meh, but its not like we're going to influence any of the giant corporate monsters at Nintendo anyways. Also, they had to replace Mewtwo with a more recent character for the new generation of kids that are now seeing the movie with Lucario, as opposed to the one from like 7 years ago with Mewtwo in it. Its all about marketing and money. Just like the "leak". The only point of it was to get people all hyped up for the game, and they sure succeeded with that one.
Game and Watch filler?
He's one of the most unique characters in the game. Roy, Dr Mario and Pichu were fillers.
He was filler. Those are clones. Two totally different things. It doesn't matter whether he is unique, he was filler.
Lucario is the Pimped out version of Mewtwo. Lucario has the same moves in all reality, Lucario is much more useful, Lucario's damage is the same as Mewtwo but grows exponentially as his damage grows. All in all, Lucario is much better than Mewtwo. The Iceclimbers are pretty much horrible. Mr. Game&Watch is only funny to watch, and only really useful if you get over his fairly massive learning curve. Lucas is a much lesser version of Ness, and Ness is horrible in this game, if that tells you anything. I personally think you need to invest in another character like Marth, Meta-Knight or Snake. Someone other than those you just listed that are playable in this game. But, long story short, we don't want nor did we ever want Mewtwo in this game. Im actually glad to see him go.
i dont know why you guys are saying ice climbers are horrible they fucking destroyed. they were on the top half of the tier list and my friend is amazing with them. if you know how to wave dash and chain grab....

that implies that you speak fact

Lucas beats both Mewtwo and Lucario. End of story
I mained the ICs for a while in Melee, I've only used them in Brawl doing Random character matches. Same with G&W. There's simply no denying the unstoppable power of a pair of Home-Run Bats, or a slew of sausages. It's just that in Brawl, the two have pretty much the worst FSes around, which puts them at an inescapable disadvantage in any kind of fight.
I don't believe G&W was filler in either game. Dr. Mario was definitely filler, being a substantially worse version of a pretty-good character. Peach and Young Link felt like filler to me. Just the ones I felt kinda slighted when I unlocked them, those are the ones I thought of as filler.
@Gamer-Shervin dispute, the strong statement of your (occasionally fallacious) opinions is pretty annoying, but I don't see it as being much of a problem unless it goes on much longer. Because I'm already getting some serious headachey Deja Vu.

Back on topic: Yeeeeeaaaa, a lot of people wanted Mewtwo, but I knew only one person that actually used him in Melee. Personally, I think more people wanted Roy than Mewtwo.

yea i noticed in melee there were alot of charaters who were alot like the others... like ganondorf and capt falcon (but they are differnet in alot of ways) roy and marth (marth was faster but roy was stronger and had red hair... end of story),pikachu and pichu (pichu was pretty much bad in everyway... although i think he was faster than pikachu...) dr.mario and mario (eh... they were pretty much the same in everyway....). and i liked mewtwo... he was pretty good... i'm not good with lucario but i get what nintendo did with it.. o yes... and in brawl ice climbers and my 3rd =P. right behind samus at 2 and meta knight at 1.

I mained with Mewtwo in Melee for a while.
But I got sick of the fact that one normal punch at 60% would send him flying off the stage.
I hate all of the button masher characters in brawl. Especially Ike and Meta Knight. If you have skill with them, it's okay, but I usually just fight people spamming and c-sticking with the same characters.
And I hate hiders. Those people that just sit in a corner while everyone else fights, and declare their extreme strategy.
I play without final smashes. Then people stop whining that everyone else gets cheap FS's while theirs sucks. Then they find realistic things to whine about ;)
yea the smash balls are cool but they are kinda annoying... i mean some ppl just sit out in the side lines and wait for the smash ball... then they somehow get it and they get an easy kill on everyone... YES! alot of ppl online use ike and use the same freakin move over and over again... it's super annoying.... they also do that with pit and meta knight... although me i'm pretty good with meta knight... i like how he can fly like kirby (which kirby was my main in melee) and that he's very quickk on his attacks (like pikachu in melee) .
Never liked mewtwo.
EVERY character in brawl is equally strong, some are just harder to master.
My mains: Kirby, mario, zelda(OMG what beast air attacks.) marth, game and watch, rob, sonic, snake, diddy kong, peach, lucario
I disagree fluid. Some characters promote cheap fighting styles, while there are some characters who just can't stand up to these cheap characters without extreme skill.

Because Nintendo's online service is a big steaming pile of shit. I can't play with somebody in the same country without massive lag. What the fuck do they think they're doing, ONLINE IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST THINGS IN GAMING RIGHT NOW. IT ISN'T SOMETHING YOU BLOW OFF. Also the game is meh, only good for multiplayer, and isn't even as good as most multiplayer games.

Yeah, Brawl online is pretty much terrible. With Anyone never works, and no one on my roster is ever online, and I can't say I blame them.
I still like Brawl in terms of local multiplayer though.
Star, either you're so used to having a shitty connection that it seems natural, or you somehow get paired with your next door neighbour every time. After playing Xbox live, games like Smash Bros. and Mario Kart just seem pathetic.
My connection works fine. I connect with anyone and it almost never lags. Everyone I know that has Brawl lives at least 10 miles from me. Besides, I don't have their friend codes. As for Xbox Live, according to some of you guys, I will never know what superior gaming is. :P
well online isn't everything (but i admit it does make a game a whole lot funner). games like metal gear solid, metroid, legend of zelda, and grand theft auto do fine without any online capabilities.. (excluding metroid hunters... and the cheating AR users...) nintendo has ok servers... i've lagged once or twice in brawl... never in medal of honor heroes, but the ds servers are different.. =/... i'll be right next to the source of the wifi connection and still not be able to log on with my ds... it works when i use this special connecter thing into my computer... although i give it to xbox for having awesome online =P.
After one playthrough of Metroid or Zelda you're pretty much done. GTA and MGS both have online modes.

i am not new to the internet. and i am also not new to people like you. i just think i should at least tell them my views on their thinking. which i think is completely wrong and will get you no where.
i have seen the best people in my state. one of them was trying to use ice climbers when i last saw.

yes but their perfectly fine without online too... and yea ure right... after u beat metroid or zelda then u don't pick up the game for a while.... although i kinda wish they did have metroid online for the wii.... just like they had multiplayer for echoes.... but online... that would be cool =P.
back on topic: they probaly deleted mewtwo and many others to jam a whole bunch of stuff into one disk... which makes me think... how would it be with a 2 disc game? like 1 disc is the single player and teh other is online... they made a 2 disk game for a star wars game on the ps1 but it kinda sucked...
Mewtwo was a slow character without many smashes. That's why I like Olimar - he beats everyone in Brawl

Nintendo probably didn't even bother lookat at the suggestions from players. The only reason they stuck Sonic in there was to get the game hyped up even more by adding just another gimmick character and to get more copies sold because people will buy it just because then can play as him. Yaaaaaaay run on sentence.
Five Words. Are You Freakin Kidding Me! Lucario is waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy better than Mewtwo ever could hope to be! Mewtwo attacks were slow impossible to make combos out of and his tail whip was basically his melee attack. Lucario is filled with loads of rightous melee attacks, makes for amazing combos and is just awsome. And I'm not saying this as a person who could'nt use Mewtwo. He may look cooler but when comes, to fighting Lucario takes the cake.
