I have made quite a lot of sheets since I first joined NSM, some came out great, others not so much *cough*Extreme G. Still, here is a list of all the brand new sheets that I made.

Out of all of the sheets I have made so far, I think "Kim Wu's theme" is by far my favorite, Although the Metal Gear Sheets came out pretty good too. I would love to get some feedback on what everyone else thinks. Just remember, if you see a sheet with poor formatting, I have not gotten to it yet.

Hey, these are some pretty good arrangements!... all of the... 2... songs I listened to... (I need to play more games). I listened to "Funky's Armoury (Duet)" from Donkey Kong 64, and "Multiplayer" from Bomberman 64. Those are some pretty good arrangements! Just a few things about "Multiplayer":

 - Is "Multiplayer" even the name of the song? I hear things like "Battle", or "Battle Arena". I figured it would be something like that. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
 - I'm not sure what you mean by "simplified", the song seems pretty accurate!
 - The notes in the right hand during Bars 17-23 go too far down, making them hard to read. I think a clef change could fix this. Another way of fixing this is by putting the notes into the left hand and stating that the higher notes are played in the right hand.

Regardless, those are some solid arrangements! I hope to see more!

This is one of the super old ones that I need to get too, although those are some valid points of improvement that I probably would have missed.

A quick search shows a trend for battle mode, so I will have to change that.

I will probably remove the "simplified" part, but it mostly has to do with the right hand before the breakdown. Instead of playing the octave chord and then just the top note of the octave, you would have to move the entire hand up and play the same chord an octave higher. This would be pretty tough at the tempo that the song is played, so my original decision was to cut the top from every second chord. Although, it is a pretty subtle difference that might require some good headphones to hear in the song  :P

I will definitely fix that. This was before I realized that I am a programmer and can go digging through the XML to make those changes  :D, although there is a tempo marking so... maybe it was just ignorance!

at a glance, the song also seems to have a consistent which I should take advantage of.

Thanks for the feedback.  :)

Also, you can use dashes for lists? I have been using the HTML style code this whole time which is a real hassle.

Well, it has been some time, but not nearly as long as you would think considering the number of sheets I finished! Hope you enjoy them. I have gotta say though, "Treasure Scuffle" is one of the longest (melody based) songs that I have ever done. Although, I think the Sky Kid Theme is my current favorite. I dedicate all of the completed sheets to my sister whom I transcribed these for.

Just took a gander at your Zelda's Lullaby trio sheet. I want to use it to demonstrate to you a skill you should learn to improve your work: layer usage.

Here's how you wrote m. 10-13. It must have been a pain to write all those ties in the guitar, right?

Here's a much cleaner way to write the guitar part:

Layers save lives. And rupees.

Oh, that is a nice tip. I will definitely keep this in mind for future sheets. It will help with maintaining a much cleaner look. I have noticed that a couple of the songs I have transcribed have parts like what you have pointed out. Thanks!

You know, I did not even think about that... I guess I mixed up my video game nicknames. All of the different bombermen have nicknames in the form of " 'color' bomber" so yeah. Either way, I got it wrong since you play as the white one in story mode. Even after all these years playing the game I got it wrong!

Haha it's ok! The Bombers do have different names iirc... Uhhhh... Was it Cheerful White for the main one maybe? It's been too long lol

I do remember all the Dastardly Bombers from Tournament though, I loved that game to death when I was a kid. They're awesome. Maaaan, I sure miss Bomberman :c

I have most of Red Mountain done. I just wanted to get some quick opinions on it. Keep in mind that I still need to add the 8vb and the little 'twinkle' notes. I am probably going to swap the layers in the Bass section starting from measure 17.

Just quickly going over this sheet. I might have an in-depth look at it later.

Playability is a concern.
I assume the 16ths in the bass are usually meant to be played by the right hand, but in this instance, I don't see that feasible. Adding several voices was good, but it seems a bit much for one hand at points.

Another problem with this image is that the right hand purely consists of Layer 2, which isn't necessary. It may only be a Mus thing (you can't see it on the pdf obviously), but it might bug some of the other users.

Other than that, it sounds pretty good! I might look at it a bit more in-depth later.

Yeah, I thought all of the notes in the right hand was going to be a problem. I have simplified it to just being the most prominent parts. There are still the playable notes in the beginning and end where both bass parts are audible. Most of the left hand is done, and I just have a couple of measures to go. After that, I can clean up the whole sheet and see if there is a key (I think it is D major...).

Thanks for the feedback Waluigi!

Post by: PetrifiedLasagna on June 05, 2016, 01:16:32 PM
Wow, it has been quite a while huh. Well let's just say I have a tendency to just straight up disappear off the web for extended periods of time! Of course I have been working on a couple of arrangements, mainly Bomberman 64, but they are not ready yet. I should seriously finish Red Mountain. It is so close!

Instead, I have made one of the best decisions in my time as a transcriber. I have done Glorious Morning from Castlestorm. Although, I never actually played this game, I actually discovered this song in Age of War (Ahh, reminds me of simpler times on the internet ::)). So anyways here are the two songs that I worked on.

Bomberman Title & Theme [NES] | mus (https://www.dropbox.com/s/44noxvs7n8t7w9o/Bomberman%20-%20Intro%20%26%20Theme.mus?dl=1) | mid (https://www.dropbox.com/s/2nm3dl6h9qiupcf/Bomberman%20-%20Intro%20%26%20Theme.mid?dl=1) | pdf (https://www.dropbox.com/s/2nm3dl6h9qiupcf/Bomberman%20-%20Intro%20%26%20Theme.pdf?dl=1) |
Castlestorm Glorious Morning [MUL] | mus (https://www.dropbox.com/s/4o5avoyhb3k33wv/Castlestorm%20-%20Glorious%20Morning.mus?dl=1) | mid (https://www.dropbox.com/s/uqxkbplarow8imr/Castlestorm%20-%20Glorious%20Morning.mid?dl=1) | pdf (https://www.dropbox.com/s/rtnbvydgdl5cj9p/Castlestorm%20-%20Glorious%20Morning.pdf?dl=1) |

In light of some recent advice that I have received from a couple users, I am probably going to revise Glorious Morning a little before I try to submit it. As for Bomberman, the only real problem I see with it is that the key change is leaking onto the previous system. Also, don't judge that I put them in the same sheet. They are literally two measures a piece, although I may separate them in the future, but right now this is simpler.

Here is the first Bomberman 64 song I have completed since starting this project. Let's just say that the bass is much more suitable for listening than transcribing!

Who else thinks that this would make one of the most epic solo pieces to hear performed?

Just a few things to whine about.

 - I'm curious about the pedal marking on measure 20. I feel like it should be positioned below the L.H. stave (like you have in measure 1), but it's not too important.

 - Also the key signatures seem a bit off. The sections in G Minor have a lot of E Naturals, as if they are in D Minor, especially the last section, which also happens to end on a D chord. I think the C Minor might be fine for that middle part though.

Other than that, it's pretty accurate and well made! I can't wait to hear more!

I don't really know how this sounds, so that means that whatever I say here is pure theory-whacking! Bwahaha :)

That being said, echo Waluigi's point - the first and last sections are definitely in D minor. So that's one flat. You have more E-naturals than E-flats in either of those sections, so yeah :p. Plus the ending is a D minor chord. Yeah, you get the idea :)

Tiny nitpick! All your D-flats should be C-sharps to avoid confusions arising from false relations with the tonic (D) note. Basically, in the D minor scale, you shouldn't have a D-flat, but you can have a C-sharp (it's way more complex, but that's the idea). Not a tough fix~

Other than that, I think it's pretty "awesome"! (you know, because awe-inspiring? urgh. shoot me now). The fourths are pretty tasteful even if I don't know what the original sounds like, the progression is clear and it's pretty organised. Great stuff :)

Yay! Much better :)

Erm, if you don't mind, more tiny nitpicks! I think it's acceptable if you don't want to change these anymore haha, but your call.

For bar 10, you may take the liberty to use crotchets (quarter notes i think) instead of tied quavers (eighth notes i suppose). The only rule when it comes to beaming within the bar in 4/4 time is that the second and third beat should not be beamed together save special cases. So crotchets are easier to read here. You can use a dotted crotchet in the right-hand part too, with this same logic :)

Also, one bar before the ending, you might want to use F-sharps. Makes the chords more clear (the melody is, after all, triadic). But I think it's acceptable-ish to use a G-flat too.

That being said, I think you've got a great work right there; if you choose to submit it, all the best :)

Ah, yes it looks much nicer that way, especially on the right hand part where it was looking a little crowded.

I see what you mean. Also, when you consider that G notes are being played it makes more sense to use F# in that context than Gb.

I was also thinking of doing an orchestral arrangement for the first time, and that I would start with something from Gauntlet Legends. Maybe I could convince a nearby school to try it when it is complete  :P *shrug*
Any suggestions on ways to organize it would be appreciated.

I forgot how much I love this song.

 - On Measure 20, there should be more notes than just the minim. A couple of descending notes, which then form harmonies with the quavers (not octaves, I don't think).
 - Really, Measures 13-20 look messy, but I'll excuse it because that's just how the notes are.
 - When it comes to accidentals, particularly in the last section, try using a rule where you use sharps when the notes are going upwards, and flats when the notes are going downwards. It's slightly easier on the reader. A notable exception to this rule is when you're trying to follow the accidentals of the chord in the melody. (Say, if a song in F Major has a measure with F Minor accidentals (and an F Minor chord), you should use the other flats, even if the notes are going upwards). If all else fails, just try to limit use of accidentals. They're such a pain to work with.

Can't wait to hear more!

It took me a while to figure out which harmonies you were talking. At first I thought you were talking about the bass harmony. After about 5 minutes of playing it back I realized it wasn't playable, and that you were talking about the Treble.  :P

I am having a hard time deciding which note to use for the last harmony. Which do you think I should use, D or B?

Okay, I made some adjustments to the last section. Although, I kept the flats in the right hand for m28 since the key is G Major and they are F flats.

Umm... I'm not sure how to answer that question.

I should've explained myself better, sorry. (It was 4 in the morning). I meant something like this:

Your original measure (20) was like this:

I think it's because of the 3 or so voices in the treble, which are really annoying because they blend so much due to them playing at almost the same volume. Sorry for any confusion.

Okay, I figured out what I will be doing for Gauntlet Legends. I am going to make it a medley comprised of a couple of songs of songs from the game. I will be doing the following songs.

1. Valley of Fire
2. Castle Courtyard
3. Town Field (reiterates melodic ideas from valley of fire)
4. Dragon's Lair

Although, I am not sure if I should stick "Sumner's tower" in between "Town Field" and the "Dragon's Lair," as a sort of tension builder. Also, I rolled a die a couple of times and it looks like I will be doing "Friend or Foe" over "Blue Resort."

It has been quite a while since I finished an arrangement, but I finally decided to finish one! I decided to do something from the Metroid series. It is by far my favorite series, but so much of the music is just ambient/synthesizers. However, I remembered that Metroid Fusion was one of the most melodic and only one song has been done from it.

Finally finished "Friend or Foe" from BMan64. Maybe I just needed a break, because this time it was a lot easier to figure out the notes in the bass section.

Although, I am not sure if it will be possible to include the pitched percussion which starts at on m17/0:15
I am wondering if it is like the noise generator for NES which has a pitch, but is still noise.

I had tons of fun arranging this! This is by far one of my favorite (but least emotional moments xP) in the game. Most of you who hear this probably immediately think of Regulus (or that green murdering @$#!), you know, the blue guy who is the lonesome bad boy of the game. I am probably going to play this song for my first performance video since it is just so darn fun. Already through most of it, so it has totally earned my seal of approval.

I remember a while I tested Akinator to see if anyone had done stuff from Bomberman. I was a little sad to find out that Akinator did not even know who Sirius, or Dr. Mujoe (anime & newer games) was. Like seriously, these guys are the super villians of the flipping games!

Anyways, I also have a little bonus too.

Keep an eye out for updates, because I have revised a lot of old sheets. Happy arranging!

Well, it's about darn time I get another arrangement out there after almost an entire year.

This is from a brand new game (one I haven't done yet): Pocky & Rocky 2

One word is enough to describe this game, and that's cute! I mean, even the big strong bald guy, who I can't remember the name of, is cute. Seriously though, I had to do this song, because from the first time I heard it I just got all choked up with the feels, and I still do. :'(
