A few notation tips:
Use ritardandos instead of changing the tempo and an a tempo to bring it back. That's how it should be notated, and it'll look a lot more professional.
Make the final 2 systems 4/4 and notate the final measure with a quarter->dotted half note with a ritardando overtop of it.

Finally got a more recent game on my list. I may do more of Super Bomberman R, I love its soundtrack.

I was a bit surprised not to see these themes on the site. When I'm able, I'll certainly try to send these in.

The arrangements are good as a whole, but a couple of rhythmic things that may not matter depending on how the updaters prefer reading them.

Such as in Marble Zone,  in measure 8, I would suggest reworking the rhythm after the dotted eighth to having an eighth note followed by another eighth note tied by a dotted quarter note.

(https://i.imgur.com/VIwbAZp.png) to (https://i.imgur.com/kEeZOdb.png)

While it is a lot to look at, it's much easier to distinguish where the beat lands rather than just notation functioning as durations of a note

Starlight zone has many areas where this could be applied to as well such as

to
(https://i.imgur.com/wB0L30P.png)

Once again, it looks like a lot of ink, but it's much easier to to see where the beat lands in my eyes

Play around with it. If you don't feel that's where your visual style lead to, make something in between.

Also, I would suggest listening to the orignal Marble Zone again; some of your notes are wrong, and I noticed one reason this is is because you have absolutely no accidentals written on your sheet. Listen to the original, but slowly.

I listened in and I think I got most of what you were talkin' about on "Marble Zone" changed. As for the accidentals, I could only dish out a couple of them from listening. You can check the new PDF, and if it's still off by a bit, I'd like feedback on that.

"Smooch of Divine Protection - As Much As Possible" has been updated a bit. It now sounds a little more accurate to the organ.

This arrangement took a while, but I did try hard to get most of the notes accurate. I may need a second opinion on that though.

I have a few suggestions (I'm only trying to help you):

- my computer blocked the PDF download to "Versus", saying that it detected a virus. While this may not be true, have you considered switching to Dropbox?
- you should really include all past arrangements in your original post, so that we can go back and check ones made before your latest sheet
- listening to the MIDI, I can tell you have a lot of wrong notes (from memory of my own arrangement of this). If you can try to tackle the above, we can get that taken care of

Again, I'm only trying to help you. But please, these suggestions will make things so much easier for us.

There's the Dropbox links then. For the past arrangements, I'll put 'em back after this sheet's sorted out. I'd like to focus just on this one for now.

Ok, before we go any further, listen to that bass line in the original again, and fix any mistakes you find in your sheet. There's too many for me to list.

To be honest, I can only hear a couple of notes that were wrong and changed them. Other than that, I don't hear what you're hearin'. Is there a possibility that the reference in the YouTube is compressed in a way that it makes it come out wrong? I promise I listened to it along with making the sheet and I listened to the bass line on the slowest speed I could make it. Is it perhaps in a different key or something of that nature?

Well, the most glaring error I can hear is the two LH eighth notes at the beginning of m. 1 - 8, which should be Cs, not Ds. If you use AudioStretch (Flash) (http://diostretch.com/audiostretchforflash/), you can raise the pitch of the song up an octave to hear the bass more clearly (I use it for that often).

All right. I changed the Ds to Cs and changed the sheet with what I heard from listening to the pitch shift.

If anyone has any suggestions for these pieces, just let me know. I wanted to bump this up on the list so I could possibly get some help on them. Any suggestions for any of them besides the one from Wario's Woods would be much appreciated. The reason for that one is because "Versus" has already been submitted. Thanks!

Yeah, I think there are at least eleven games, with 3 not having the original creator on the team. The series is a bit of a hit and/or miss to most folks.

Mario Kart has always had some great tunes, but I feel this one may be one of its best tracks (No pun intended). Very emotional this piece.

Well, I've arranged another Leisure Suit Larry tune. This one was pretty fun to make. I'd like to apologize about the source as it's a walkthrough of the game instead of just a music video. I couldn't find one of just the song as it is, so I'm stuck with this one. The song starts on 3:07.

Post by: NineLives on November 01, 2019, 03:02:22 PM
I'm in a bit of a pickle with this tune. I'd like to have both the accompaniment and the melody put into the song, but I don't know how to fit the two together without it seeming odd, since both parts either intersect each other or each of their notation is too far away from each other. If anyone has any ideas on how to combine these parts a bit more, I'd gladly appreciate hearing them! Thanks.

I was looking over the "Mario Kart" section of the site and saw that quite a few of the sheets were pretty old, so I thought I'd try to make replacements for a few of them. I decided to start off with one of the more well-known tunes from the first game: "Koopa Beach!"

NineLives, have you considered putting all of your sheets into the original post, and then showcasing each new one in the new posts where you announce them? It would make it a lot easier for us to access your old sheets, and to see the new ones without having to go back to page 1.

I suppose I could try to start doing something like that. I've stuck to changing the first post since most of my old sheets are submitted to the site anyway. I'll do some editing around.

Good to hear. Trust me, eventually you'll get to a point where you've got almost as many unsubmitted sheets as on-site ones.
Title: Re: Nine Lives' Arrangements - Earthworm Jim 3D's "Fear the Forest"
Post by: NineLives on March 03, 2020, 09:22:31 PM
I was kind of surprised from the lack of sheets from the Earthworm Jim series of games and that the only one on-site is out of date and not formatted well, so I thought I'd arrange a tune from the series' only 3D platform game. This song is from the PC version, and while this song was on the N64 version that came out a year prior, there are a couple differences in the piece. These include having some sections placed in dissimilar spots and the fact that the N64 version has a proper repeat, unlike the PC version. Perhaps I'll move the sections around once the PC one gets accepted onto the site and we can have both versions on NSM, but we'll have to wait and see.

On my quest to build upon the Leisure Suit Larry series on NSM, I've decided to arrange another couple of tunes from the first game(Or, more so, the VGA version of the same name from 1991). I'm hoping I'm at least getting a few people into the series' music, but, if not, I'm still having fun arranging the sheets nonetheless!

I'm sure many people who played through the game remember this song as probably one of the saddest aside from "Memories Returned." I'm quite a fan of this tune and I thought I'd arrange a duet version of it since there was already a solo sheet on-site by Bespinben (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2510) with it's alternate title: "I Don't Want to Say Goodbye." (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/download/pdf/1499) I tried to fit in most of the parts on here and I'm hoping I did well on the note accuracy. Enjoy!

I decided to take a crack at making some collection sheets, so for my first collection, I decided to compile the songs from Luigi's Mansion played by a Melody Pianissima in-game. Basically, any songs she played on her piano in the game (Not including Totaka's song since that was scrapped) are in this collection. Please feel free to comment about any changes that might need to be done to it to make it more accurate or presentable!

I've been playing a bit of Mario Party 2 recently, and while I'm annoyed by not getting to play many minigames due to the roulette always picking ones I've played many times already(Even in the same 20 turn match), I got a little attached to one of the songs from the select few of them. I always heard of this song, but never knew which game it was from until I picked up the cartridge just a few days ago. Anyways, here it is.
