PC / Re: Official Kotor MMO topic

ok i just dont see a story with mmos. the problem is a story needs to have a beginning, middle and end. That just doesnt work for MMOs. You could get a beginning but middle and end just doesnt work as each sidequest (or 'quests' as they r called in mmos...for a reason cos there is no main quest) has their own little story and then u just lose track of the main story. Also wat happens when u beat the main story? more sidequests that just seem pointless now? for ginding sake?

Believe me...this will turn out to be a futuristic WoW...with lightsabers thrown in cos its star wars.

Bring out Mass Effect 2 and 3 (as its a trilogy they say and its an awesome single-player game). THEN bring out ur kotor mmo but i just dont think itll work out that well. It would b cool 2 see evry1 training at the jedi council but stupid 2 see evry1 doing the same missions for them. Its gonna turn into a mmo like wow and the others with no story...just a whole lotta quests and grinding on giant rats. Also its gonna have monthly fees as Bioware wont turn away from the possibility of lotsa money (unlike valve who have enough neway).

Im not into online that much...its good for a while but after that it just gets boring and u begin 2 wonder y u r wasting so much of ur life on grinding for the sake of being able 2 kill that level 46 dragon who has a 1/1000000 chance of dropping the super rare lightsaber thats does +30 attack. Or u could sell it for $100 bn in virtual cash which u just use for further grinding. Its 1 big loop....i know since i used 2 play Runescape for 1 and a 1/2 yrs. Biggest waste of time...

just my two cents on MMOs

Thats the region.

NTSC is America and Japan.

PAL is Europe, UK and Australia.

Im guessing ur US...

NTSC regions usually get games first. So ur lucky (even though its a pommy company making this game).

Or dont u like that music much?

Hey i read somewhere before that you were going to have a go at arranging that main theme from Mirrors Edge. Still up for it? Cos it would be great if someone did it.

Pretty good Gooch. It really picked up at around 52 seconds. Its a good idea to keep the piano there as it provides the melody while the rest of the accompaniment are use to bring more life into it. Want to see an mp3 version that includes all the instruments.

I havnt played it but i reckon those problems were because of the learning curve on the game. The more u play the more u would (probably) come to terms with the controls. I know i was like that with Mass Effect and Kotor but the more i played it the better i got and they turned out AWESOME!

*groan* as much as i love Bioware (and i really do) i just cant stand MMOs. They r in the past now and i am definitely NOT paying monthly fees cos they suck! If it were more like Guild Wars where u just buy the game and no monthly fees (i think? i dunno cos ive never played it) then it would b awesome.

Microsoft / Re: Mass Effect, Oblivion, or Bioshock?
August 17, 2008, 10:37:27 PM
True ^^^

Mass Effect is rather short whilst Oblivion is crazy long. But i still go for Mass Effect as 30 hrs for great gfx, great story and the ability for at least 1 replay (good/evil) makes it well worth the $

Also (if u love getting all achievements) it takes AT LEAST 3 playthroughs to get all achievements, whether thats a good or bad thing is up 2 u.

Well it looks like im the best guy u can talk to!

I own Mass Effect and Oblivion and have borrowed and finished Bioshock.

All are great games. But to choose which one is the best is hard. They all have their benefits.

First of all...i wouldnt recommend Bioshock as you are obviously a kotorfanboy and Bioshock does NOT equal kotor. Kotor is an awesome rpg, Bioshock is an awesome (but dark and creepy) first-person shooter.

Oblivion...im sorry but i cant tell you much about this one other than that the map is effing massive! (i only got it yesterday lol). Also ive heard it has upwards of 300 hours of playtime which is ridiculously huge for a simgle-player non-MMO game.

Mass Effect...OMG this game is awesome! BUT it does have its flaws, let me tell you that this is still very different than Kotor. In Kotor, lightsabres were the weapon of choice but in Mass Effect there are no lightsabres (or melee weapons, but u can melee them if ur close enough). This is more of a third-person shooter than an rpg but all the rpg elements are there. The story and dialogue are top-notch (You may recognise certain voices...such as Seth Green and Carth). Another (flaw?) could be that the story is only 30 hours long which is a bit on the short side when it comes to rpgs.

I could go on about each games positives and negatives but i would just say that you should go with Mass Effect. If you liked Kotor then you should hopefully enjoy Mass Effect. It is the only 3rd-person game here (other than changing to 3rd person in oblivion, but its not as good) and it has probably got the most epic music ive ever heard.

Theres so much more i would like to say but i reckon u should just go with whatever suits u best. Its all gotta do with opinion. You cant go wrong with any of them. Although i would say that Bioshock would b the worst choice to go with. Its got a good story and dialogue but its a dark, creepy, violent first-person shooter. Theres more blood in Bioshock than there is water (slight exaggeration lol).

Thats just my two cents on the matter. If you do go with Mass Effect lemme just say that its starts out slow...with the game picking up after you complete the citadel. Mass Effect is the most similar to Kotor with Oblivion coming in second and Bioshock a distant 3rd.

What u guys got against kotorfanboy?

it looks like your trying to nitpick every little thing that u guys deem wrong about him. like too big of a sig and why hes not allowed to quote the above poster.
