[Wii] Kirby's Epic Yarn - Kracko Battle Theme

starrgrl24: This is it. <: Let me know if there's anything I need to adjust!

Olimar: Hmm...My gut says this is in 4/4 at 135bpm, with all of the note values cut. However, I think we can avoid all that work by putting "(3+3+2)" next to the bpm... can I get a second opinion?

Starrgrl24:Yeah, it is possible to notate it in 4/4, but I wouldn't really suggest marking time signatures based on the phrasing. The phrasing very well makes it 4/4 with the note division halved. Latin rhythms have this habit though. While it sound as all the values should be cut in half, they don't do that because the score will be messy and hard to read. xD I choose 8/8 for aesthetic purpose. xD I rather see dotted quarter notes than dotted eight notes. This is just my opinion. More opinions please. xD But if people think it looks cleaner in 4/4, then let me know. I care about making it easy for people to read. <:

Olimar: The thing is, 8/8 in this situation doesn't make sense. It doesn't function as 8/8 because 8/8 imples that the 8th notes are getting the beat. The more I think about it, the more I hear 4/4. Go ahead and cut the note values in half and change it to 4/4 at 135bpm.

Starrgrl24Oh you're making a common misconception of the x/8 rhythm. The dotted quarter notes get the beat (or quarter note depending on the rhythm), not the eight. It's a nicer way of notating if the rhythm is gonna be all triplets. Anyways, I think I'll just go with the 4/4. It's really more of an opinion. Seeing that the gusty garden galaxy arrangement is 4/4. May as well keep the consistency and it's more familiar. So 4/4 it is.

Olimar: The rhythm isn't all triplets, its dotted quarter-dotted quarter-quarter. Make your rhythm match this:

And the wind garden IS in 4/4. Watch the conductor.

No, I am positive now that this piece is in 4/4

Most annoying game I have played was Cave Story, the original free version. It's really the secret level that is super annoying (even though the last cave also brings in frustration). Hoards of enemies just come attacking you and a single attack can take a significant amount of damage. @.@ You gotta defeat a boss before going to the final boss which has 4 forms. I'm glad I got that game over with. Overall though, there are plenty of boss battles that will annoy you

and don't get me started on the puppies....

Music / Music ed. vs music performance
November 20, 2012, 09:43:09 PM
I'm switching to BM in keyboard performance instead of BS in music education general/vocal. I just get take more exciting courses as a performance major. :) I'm kinda skeptical though, I do want a job in the future. lol  The 100% employment is really making me stay in the program.

Music education basically requires that you take a bunch of general education and music education courses along with your other music requirements. But I am really not liking the music education degree program. I honestly find it very tedious. There are many more exciting music courses you can take as a music performance major! You also get more practice time as a performance major. :) Besides, I can see myself more as a private piano instructor. Yet, people are saying that a music education degree is the way to go.

Would you agree, or is it possible to find success with a bachelor degree in performance? Or in more vague terms, is it best to go after your dreams and do what you love or to take the easy route and be safe? :P

It really seems that music schools nowadays are focusing more on the music education curriculum instead of the performance curriculum. They are constantly advertising about the benefits of being a music education major....and I've visited several universities and went to many school website all saying the same thing: 100% employment.

Hey, I'm gonna be super picky about your choice of key signature.

This is actually in G mixolydian mode! That is why it's really hard to tell. it's neither major nor minor. <: One clue is that it starts and ends in a g major chords, yet it sounds in a different mode. The seven is flat, which is why you see a lot of f natural when you would assume there would be an f sharp. Because this is in g mixolydian mode, this would preferably be written as if it was in c major. :P
Now the chord in the 2nd major may bring skepticism. The e flat chord in first inversion is a flat sixth chord (VIb) of the g major scale. It borrows from its supposedly minor counterpart. That chord is not really in the scale so it has nothing to do with the key signature. It just adds flavor to the music!

Feel free to argue against me fellow music theorist. haha

Now for the samus victory theme, it does indeed end in a picardy third. <: It is totally in d minor.

I apologize if I am sounding egotistical...I just never got to use my music theory knowledge outside the classroom. So yes, this is the cool stuff you learn when you go to music school! :D

melody town
kracko battle theme

I AM STILL ALIVE. I apologize for constantly disappearing. xD I transferred to a music school and I've been so busy. I'm gonna switch from music education to piano performance so I've been working hard toward my audition piece. My end of semester jury will also be my audition. Yeah, that's my personal story.

Anyways, the links above are my arrangements in .mus! The chords are tricky to find out, so would be nice to make feedback. I will fix the layout, so that's obviously something that needs fixing! So yeah, I would appreciate opinions on the chords. I am hoping to have these two published (if it not has been already). I'm gonna try to work on one arrangement at a time for now on. ^^;

Music / Re: Favorite Game Soundtracks
June 19, 2012, 11:59:34 AM
Kirby's Epic Yarn is hands down my all-time favorite video game soundtrack. I absolutely love the overall style and mood of the music. The soundtrack also gets extra points for featuring piano in a variety of music to set up the various styles and mood.

Other soundtracks I enjoy:
-Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
-Yoshi's Story
-Cave Story (never played the game but I downloaded the ost and LOVED it)
-Super Mario Galazy 1/2
-Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
-Metroid Zero Mission/Metroid (NES)

John Williams is the man. :D I also choose Giacchino due to personal taste. It's nice to see a rising to fame film composing star. :>

This is what I'm going to try to learn in the summer:

Schumann Op. 9 Carnival [as much movements as possible before fall semester]
Chopin Etude Op. 10 No. 5
[possibly] Kapustin Etude No. 3 (cuz a certain someone showed me this music :D )

Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow - Trainer Battle Theme
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum - Elite Four Battle/Gym Battle
some other random Pokemon music

Quote from: Shadoninja on May 20, 2012, 09:56:18 AMnot another request for this...

you know what, I'll do this and I don't care if we have the version from Brawl.

For future reference, provide a link to the song you're requesting.

Ooooh, it was on the SSBB archive this whole time? D: I expected for this to be in the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum this entire time. xD I wasn't thinking about SSBB at all. Well, I don't think I need the request anymore. If you want to do it, then still go for it. :P

And, I just forgot to copy and paste the link. I did it now.

I've never seen an arrangement of this music on this site and it is one of my absolute favorite from the game. O.o So yeah, is anyone willing to make an arrangement of this?

I'm planning to perform a series of Pokemon music on piano, so I'd love to have that music as one of my repertoire. :P

Edit: I actually had this link on my tab and forgot to copy and paste the link. Here it is anyways:

Oh, I just want to say that I'm alive once again, and that I'm currently editing "Melody Town" and "Kracko Battle" from Kirby's Epic Yarn! Yay for summer break! :D I can't afford summer classes so this is even better. :3 After that, I'll get to work on "Weird Woods" because I love that piece.

Apparently, someone reported that I was infringing copyright on mediafire when I posted my arrangement of Kirby's Epic Yarn melody town...so the file has been deleted. So yeah...is there any other place where I can publicly post my documents like on mediafire?

I am rather disturbed by this. >.>
