going on like hour 7 straight of studying (rip midterms) and was looking for some new music to study to, and found this cute little compilation in my recommended videos. listened to about half of it and was like "damn this is really good, let me add it to my study playlist so i can find it later", went to the add button and noticed its literally braix's. from 2015!! i'm mostly out of the loop w things here now, so this is probably old news (literally 4 years old) but this was mad cute and made me all fuzzy. thought i'd share

--side note this topic gave me the 120 warning, are y'all okay? no ones had a good day in a while?
oo something i probably have a say in! time to use my Authority

totally would be down for an other category. I just did a lil bit of work on the board today and there were a couple made up tags used for consoles that didn't have one specified here (Commodore is the only one coming to mind rn) but I found workarounds for the few cases that existed. If I'm being honest, the exact specifications of the tags aren't super important, especially in cases like this where we would have very few requests/sheets for those games. At least in terms of the requests board; I know submissions and the site have their own uses but I'm p sure my point still works in those cases.

WHAT lat i didn't know you played two of my songs!!! granted they were the ones ben basically redid from scratch from my trash original drafts but omg. ty.
Welcome to the forums!! To potentially increase the chances of someone fulfilling your request, posting links to youtube or other videos of the exact tracks you're asking for helps a lot. Good job with the formatting otherwise tho!!

ow i just found this thread again and made myself really smiley reading through it (also a little cringe from my old writing style ew)

i'm proud and appreciate that my dumb 15 yr old self thought to make a thread like this :-) even if it died after like 8 posts

all semi-demands and bad blood aside...let me promote myself

If you don't know what to arrange, look through the requests board and get inspired!! All the songs there are ones that people want, so you know you'll have at least one fan of your finished arrangement. If you find the song too difficult or lose interest, no one is making you finish it, so you don't have to stress about perfecting or even completing an arrangement (but maybe just don't post in the thread that you've started it unless you're sure you're going to finish it, don't wanna get anyone's hopes up). I have a whole folder of unfinished arrangements lol no one knows so no one cares! Plus, the best part of fulfilling a request is I get to fancily format it and move it out of our very long list of wants, so actually you'll have a guaranteed TWO people thanking you!!

I'm ass at arranging so I totally get where your frustrations are coming from. As awful as I am now tho, I'm still a LOT better than when I originally started. But I only learned more by actually physically arranging; asking for help and having more experienced arrangers explain a theory or something so I could recognize it by myself next time. Levi's recommendation of 3 track songs is a really good one, since the less voices present the easier it'll be to single out and recognize them.

You don't have to be familiar with the piece or franchise, and imo don't even have to like the song you're arranging. If your goal is improving your basic skills, you'll be motivated to arrange the most boring-ass pieces if you actively recognize the changes and progress you're making. Then, when you're a little more comfortable, you can tackle pieces you find more fun!

Looking back at my first attempts at arranging, I had a lot of questions and a lot of subsequent threads for them lol. Some quick basics imo that I found were recognizing chords and their notes and my favorite, notating correct rhythm groupings (which was nonsense to me at first but once explained well made SO much sense and was very gratifying)

try one!! it's like a smoothie but better
if we're on the topic of unhealthy methods!! i alternate between melatonin and caffeine pills, along w very loud morning alarms until my schedule is semi reasonable again. caffeine pills are great and really cheap (and allowed me to pass biochem and genetics this semester lol) but they're really easy to abuse so maybe plain coffee could be better
