Sorry, misunderstood. Thought you wanted me to post on your arrangement thread. Is this one going to be posted on-site?

Hey Deku,

I'm copying this over from the discord; I found some errors in Luma/The Story Begins/Prologue:

- m5 b2 RH there shouldn't be an A
- m6 b2.5 RH there's no E in the arpeggio
- m15 b3.5 RH should be A diminished 7th chord rather than a dominant 7th, so an Ab instead of the G
- pretty sure the official name of the track is called Luma.

I checked everything else and didn't find anything.

I also found a few problems with Save Game from Animal Crossing, but I'm pretty busy right now and don't have time to pick out the errors, but you're definitely a lot more experienced than me now and can definitely find them hehe :) and btw, the official name is "Finished Already".

Not sure if this post sounds arrogant or something, hopefully it doesn't... I don't mean it to be. Sorry if it comes off that way.

@Luigi21, I hope you get a response soon!

Help! / Re: Mario Party 9 bowser Jr.'s mad 16th note rest problem
« on: June 05, 2019, 03:16:09 PM »

Sorry you haven't gotten any responses yet! I'm relatively familiar with Musescore, so I might be able to fix your problem—but I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, to be honest. There has to be 16th rests in that measure so that the duration adds up, right?

I'm open to DMs on discord, if you want to respond there—Kaphita#4535.

Help! / Return to Nifl sheet help
« on: June 03, 2019, 10:08:49 PM »
Hey guys,

I've had a decent amount of trouble with Return to Nifl. As usual, I apologize if posting this here violates some rule I'm not aware of—I usually hang around the discord, so I'm not very familiar with the forums.

Here's what I got so far (mscz and xml).

First: chord voicing vs. relative strength of the notes in the chord. The opening chord in the RH is F#m7, with an A on top (so second inversion)— but the F# is a lot stronger than the A, so it SOUNDS more correct to write it in first inversion. So which should I prioritize: technical accuracy, or sound accuracy?

Second: the LH is getting overwhelmed in the phrase starting in m5. How do I get it to sound above the RH? Octaves would work in theory, but they'd be kinda boring, and kinda annoying to play... Similar thing for m33-40; I'd much prefer not to resort to octaves (though here they're present in the OST), but I'm not sure how else to enrich the melody over its previous repetition.

Third: how do I maintain the momentum once the opening 16-measure figure ends? m17-24 lose the energy built up in the opening as written, without the aid of the percussion track. It'll sound even more slow if I drop some of the voices to make it playable.

And I guess it'd help a lot to check my notes (and notation, like the direction of the staves in m37—whether I need to keep them all pointing down or not to indicate that those 16ths are part of the cello phrase). In particular, the chords from m1-16, which I've listened to countless times and still am not entirely sure if they're correct, the LH phrase from m9 to m16 (are there more notes in beats 2 and 4?), and the LH figure starting in m25. (In measure 26, I actually hear A# on b1 and b3, but that makes no sense...)

Hopefully this wasn't too long. Thanks for the help!!!

In measure 8, the e of 1 and 3 (I think that's what it's called? 1e+a 2e+a... ?) should be a Bb instead of a G.

OST for reference:

Red=in progress
Blue=finished, but needs polishing
Green=on site/completely finished

Okay, let's get this started!

There are too many a few things I've worked on since a while back and gave up on left unfinished, so I'd like to clean those up and post them here later.

For now though...

Haven't really used forums much, sorry if I missed a rule somewhere.

I'm working on Having Lived from To the Moon. I'm pretty close to being done; Lat already checked that all of my notes are correct. I just need some help on presentation ;-;

Oh uh... if you knew it was Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, I'll change the scores to reflect that. When I said

The phrase I selected doesn’t exist verbatim in any video games as far as I know

I intended to admit that putting it in the quiz was foul play because I picked the 5th and 6th measures of the song, but the first game only contained measures 1-4 and the second game remixed everything.

I underestimated how long it would take me to find the melodies I wanted due to my lack of prior experience... I'll know better next time and plan better. Totally my mistake; I'm sorry.

Okay, time for answers!

I’m probably not gonna do a theme (or at least such a time consuming one) for a while at least :P

Melody 1 (3/8)
“Ghirahim Battle” - [Wii] The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Timestamp: 0:50–0:56
Guessed by: ThatHiddenCharacter, NocturneOfShadow, somethingminor

Melody 2 (0/8)
“Ready to (Mario) Party” - [Wii] Mario Party 9
Timestamp: 0:38–0:46
Guessed by:

This is where I realized I could make a theme. And hence, it got easier from here :P

Melody 3 (0/8)
“Bunny Chasing” - [Wii] Super Mario Galaxy
Timestamp: 0:49–0:52
Guessed by:

Melody 4 (3/8)
“Bicycle” - [NDS] Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum
Timestamp: 0:50–0:56
Guessed by: mastersuperfan, Latios212, dajwxp

Funny—this has the exact same timestamp as Melody 1!

Melody 5 (6/8)
Quote from: Latios212
let's see how hard I facedesk after results come out
“Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” - [MUL]
Timestamp: 0:34–0:37
Guessed by: mastersuperfan, ThatHiddenCharacter, NocturneOfShadow, somethingminor, dajwxp, Dekkadeci

Okay, I know this one was a stretch. I was desperate for another melody that fit the theme, and I was already late for posting.

The phrase I selected doesn’t exist verbatim in any video games as far as I know, but it's pretty well known…

Sorry for the confusion.

Melody 6 (5/8)
“Azalea Town” - [GBC] Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal
Timestamp: 0:36–0:40
Guessed by: mastersuperfan, Latios212, NocturneOfShadow, somethingminor, dajwxp

I referenced the HGSS version because the grace notes are cleaner. Not too much difference, though.

Melody 7 (5/8)
“Doki Doki Literature Club! (Main Theme)” - [PC] Doki Doki Literature Club!
Timestamp: 1:14–1:18
Guessed by: mastersuperfan, Latios212, NocturneOfShadow, somethingminor, Static

This phrase appears in many of the songs in the game, so I accepted them all.

Melody 8 (3/8)
“Rainbow Road” - [Wii] Mario Kart Wii
Timestamp: 0:25–0:29
Guessed by: mastersuperfan, Latios212, Dekkadeci

I intentionally started in a weird spot and continued in a part where another melody ran on top of it :P

Melody 9 (6/8)
“Snowball Park” - [WiiU] Super Mario 3D World
Timestamp: 0:03–0:09
Guessed by: mastersuperfan, Latios212, ThatHiddenCharacter, NocturneOfShadow, somethingminor, Static

Also appeared in Super Mario 3D Land.

Melody 10 (3/8)
“Apt. 102” - [Wii] Kirby's Epic Yarn
Timestamp: 0:19–0:25
Guessed by: mastersuperfan, Latios212, Static

Alright, I finally stopped procrastinating and found a few more things that had grace notes/mordents/trills in them… (also my 1.5 hour flight was delayed by 3.5 hours yesterday, so that sucked…)

Since this is my first quiz, I don’t really have much to gauge by, but I think this should probably be on the easy side. Also, please forgive any bad spelling of accidentals (and any incorrect grace note durations; I tried to make them as precise as possible, but short notes are hard to count right :/ )

Have fun! :D

When Noc said "are you kidding me" I thought I had just made a very preposterous claim, which is why I said "yes" XD

I'll probably have a quiz up this Saturday (If I can think 4 more melodies fitting my theme between studying for finals week and science bowl, that is). We have spring break next week, so I should definitely be able to get it done by Tuesday at the latest.

Darn, To the Moon has been on my wishlist for a while now... but I don't know any songs from it except Everything's Alright (because I followed Laura Shigihara when I was in 7th grade).

Edit: aaaaaaaaaand I don't anything on Yug's quiz.
