Forum Games / Ironic Wish Granting
March 27, 2011, 12:35:58 AM
Here are the rules, I say a wish like

I wish I wasn't fat

the next poster grants this wish but puts an ironic twist like

Wish Granted.
You aren't fat, instead you're obese.

And makes a wish of their own

I'll go first,
I wish for a million dollars.

Gaming / Awesome Game Suggestions
December 21, 2010, 06:52:43 PM
tomorrow gonna go see if I can find a game to get for christmas, any suggestions?

the stores I'll check are http://www.ebgames.com.au/ and http://www.jbhifi.com.au/ and I don't wanna go to steam and stuff

I feel like horror (wish they sold F.E.A.R.), don't mind if it's FPS, RPG or point and click or what, but not you know RTS or that kind of thing, also I'd be cool with one of those japanese things uh, like 999, professor layton, apollo justice or trauma centre, but if so idk what to get,

I have DS and PC only :(

Movies & TV / Help D:

for music, I have to get an australian film, or short film, and record or rip 1 minute of footage without sound from it and then compose my own music to fit with it.

I'm thinking of either using Saw or Happy Feet as my film (they're both australian).

if you have any better ideas (oh dear god why do they have to be australian >_<) please help.

Also if you can't find anything decent which is Australian then that's ok my teacher understands how stupid the idea was (stupid australian board of studies) and said he could give SOME leeway.

I compose in a primitivist/serialist style usually in an unnerving (think Messiaen) or dance-like manner (think stravinsky's rite of spring, not rave music ._.)

Music / You know you're a music nerd when...
August 04, 2010, 05:48:25 AM
Post your stories :3

you walk to the organ and your teacher is playing a piece. He asks you "quick name the composer" and you wait and listen then say
"there's a little Bach in there... but"
"nup wrong try again"
*listens*
"vivaldi"
"why do you say vivaldi?"
"the chord progression reminds me of his orchestral music, like L'estro Armonico"
*stops playing, flicks to front of book*
"It's the 3rd Concerto from Vivaldi's L'estro Armonico arranged by Bach..... wow nice work."

one is the new Zelda game

Hey it's cutsy, not incredibly hard, played the phantom hourglass that was awesome, also you guys probs have a clue what that is unlike the next one....

the second is a game I've absolutely never heard before, found searching "point and click plot great" on site: wikipedia.org >_> Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars - found it in stock too so it's viable

The animation style is like those old educational games I used to... ok fine still play so it'll be a little nostalgic. It has aparantly an incredibly epic plot and puzzles, also the little blurbthingy sounds cool... american tourist wandering in Paris when SUDDENLY A HOMICIDAL CLOWN SHOWS UP AND KILLS EVERYONE, and then you try to solve the mystery :P

yes which one should I get, or just neither and donate the 40 or so dollars to a children's charity and go borrow Matilda from the library?

Story Telling / Symbolism
December 29, 2008, 01:30:21 AM
don't you just love those stories that make absolutely no sense whatsoever, but mean so much?

well I'd like to know what people think this means:

http://jeeba55555.deviantart.com/art/Latin-Love-Poem-107348203

esp. to quote the preface to the Picture of Dorian Gray

"All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors."

let's see you break the surface, and show who you really are through the reflection...

not that I'm complaining or anything! I absolutely love what he's done with the song, but Commander 6's Chapel in Castlevania's Aria of Sorrow, instead of using all those triplets, should it be in compound time?

I love that song though, esp. since it's so cooler on piano (it would be even cooler on an organ) so I'm just saying!!
