Where did you learn music theory? Experience?

Your arrangement from City/Town is good :)
I like it, that you put the chords in some of your sheets

Quote from: jegilmer on September 02, 2013, 06:53:45 PMYes Sibelius supports it, but when I import it the magnetic layout is off and everything looks like a jumbled mess. But it's not too hard to tidy up.

Then export it as a xml file. A Finale-User can open (it's more accurate than a MIDI-File) and save it as a mus file.

Does Sibelius support .xml files?

Very nice arrangement!

Some small things:
1) Measure 39 and 47: Cb should be B (G7)
2) Measure 67: Gb should be F# (D major)

Quote from: rosabellis on September 01, 2013, 03:17:40 AM[NDS] Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity - Desperation (Light Arrangement)

1) I think it is better using a bass clef (left hand) in measure 11 - 21/22

2) You've changed the key quite often. You started with 3 b's, that suggest Eb or C as the keytone. It's just a feeling, but isn't the keytone F (at the beginning)? That would mean 4 b's.

3) It's my first time seeing a legato over rests. How do you play that?

4) Maybe it's just me, but the links in your start post aren't working :(

Feedback / Re: Arranging tricks or tips?

What helps me a lot is music theory.
If you now how chord progessions work or how the composer composed the melody then it is much easier to figure out the right notes.
But in order to do that, you have to learn music theory...
Or you have awesome ears and very much talent, but there aren't many people who have them...

Thank you!

Well, it sounds nice.

Quote from: Dudeman on June 23, 2011, 09:44:23 AMThat's what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to make the transcription as close to the original as possible. I'm a perfectionist that way. It's just what I do.

If you call it a transcription, than it is fine.
Besides, adding chords etc. don't change the original.

QuoteThat's actually what happened with my (still unfinished) arrangement of Rocket Barrel from DKCR. There's a big difference between this (shadoninja begun with this notes, I made this further) and this.

Your arrangement is better than the other one. But it seems, that some chords are misplaced. Keep it up!

Quote from: starrgrl24 on June 19, 2011, 01:51:05 PMI took the advice and I think I prefer it that way after listening. I left the bass the way it is because...I think this music is good enough with a simple bass.

Okay!
If you think it's good than leave it like this :)

Quote from: KefkaticFanatic on June 19, 2011, 06:26:05 PMThen figure it out yourself.  That's what everyone else does.

Are you referring to me?
If yes, what should I figure out?

Quote from: starrgrl24 on June 19, 2011, 10:33:09 AMYeaah...I do realize the left hand is very simple, but I'm afraid that is the only way I can do it. The bass is actually like that in the music unless you want me to harmonize.

Yes, harmonizing the piano arrangement is one way to make it sound richer.

Quoteor add another voice to the bass.

If you want to, than do it :)
QuoteThis music is very melodic...so not much really goes on in the bass. I wanted the sheet music to be directly from the actual music...

As you can hear, this piece isn't written for the piano. So you need to arrange that piece to make it sound good on the piano.
You could add the rhythm of the drums, for example.

Quoteunless you want this to be a sort of remix. :P

Well, a remix is something different than an arrangement ;)

QuoteRef: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzpZvY-nSw8

That brings back memories...
QuoteEdit: well...listening to this again...I may have an idea to vary the bass, but only for the last 2 measures. :P If it works, I'll upload it.

Okay!

Note: These things are only suggestions, so please don't treat them as if you have to follow them.

Quote from: starrgrl24 on June 17, 2011, 05:34:04 PMI made yet another arrangement from another kirby game! This the music of Rainbow Route or Forest/Nature area which is in the game Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. :D

sheet music here

Your left hand is, er, static and simple. Perhaps you could vary it a bit more?
