1. Bird – Standard Bird game.  The only thing I think you should have done was shoot Funnygurl to null the Brutal Wolf.
2. Bubbles – Thanks for replacing in!  You did a great job jumping into the game like you did, and your posts in the thread asked relevant questions and important content.  I really liked that you thought the lynch through on Day 2 instead of just straight lynching Funnygurl555; that you beat people like Sauce and Liggy to reasoning that Funnygurl555 could be Brutal is impressive.  Not sure why Sauce didn't end up shooting her after all.  Your only mistake was on the last Day Phase; you forgot to take into account the Traitor!  Nevertheless, I was quite proud how you rationalised that NocturneOfShadow likely wasn't a Wolf from maelstrom's blunder.  And that you stuck to davy was great too; if everyone were thinking like you, Humans would definitely have won!  Sauce and Liggy were suspicious of you for some reason, but if I were playing, I would probably have thought you were really Human!  Honourable Mention
3. Maelstrom – To be honest, your PM response and inactivity late Day 3 is what cost the game for the Humans!  I don't know if you were busy or anything, but you definitely should not have responded the way you did.
4. Olimar12345 – You got a bit unlucky in your play Day 1 and were lynched.  Day 1 lynches of Wolves is mostly luck anyway, so don't feel down about it!
5. BlackDragonSlayer – Should have trusted Liggy's opinion!!!  As a word of advice, don't vote when the threat of a Wolf Rush is present.
6. Vermilionvermin – rip
7. fank009 – looooooool at predicting the remaining two Wolves Night 2.  That being said, I felt your Role as Traitor seemed a bit bland.  You could have stirred things up with a false claim or something!  Not that it mattered too much, since davy seering you essentially gave the Wolves a much needed vote that won the game.  Good job!
8. Funnygurl555 – And thank you too for replacing in!  I felt that false claiming was a really bad idea, especially having done it so late.  Given the setup chosen, it was practically suicide; Humans would figure out the Bulletproof's identity sooner or later.  The false claim would have been good had Olimar12345 not died, but it wasn't worth the unnecessary risk otherwise.  Had you stayed quiet and expressed being okay with the Olimar12345
9. Dude – Sorry that you died!  You saved Liggy from the Brutal though!!!
10. Davy - You were basically the mastermind of the Wolf Team.  You made very astute seering choices (such that you only needed to use your power twice) and having found the Traitor early on is essentially what one you the game.  The only mistakes I would say you made were choosing for Funnygurl to false claim Seer and wolfing Bird, and having your activity plummet as your Partners died.
11. NocturneofShadow – Your plan of false claiming Traitor to maelstrom was a good one.  It's a shame it backfired though.  Otherwise, not too bad of a performance!
12. Liggy – Claiming Night 1 was a good strategy, considering it allowed you to unite the Specials in the game (see: Bird).  I probably would have done it later than sooner though, but it worked for you, so...!  It was rather amusing that you were doubting Bird over Funnygurl555 on Night 2.  If I were in your shoes, I would have thought the opposite; Bird wouldn't make an obviously weak false claim and (to my knowledge) Funnygurl555's claim was rather late in the Phase.  That being said, pretty standard Liggy game!  You were able to nail davy in the end and, had you not been wolfed, would have definitely won the game for the Humans.  MVP

Game Action Log:

Twilight –
Wolves choose Options 5, 6, and 9.

Night 1 –
vermilionvermin is wolfed (Human)
davy seers Bird Blue.

Day 1 –
Olimar12345 is lynched (Wolf).

Night 2 –
Bird is attacked, but survives.
Davy seers fank009 Orange.

Day 2 –
Funnygurl555 is Insta'd (Brutal Wolf), Dude is brutalled (Human).

Night 3 –
Bird is wolfed (One-shot Bulletproof with a Gun).

Day 3 –
maelstrom is lynched (Invisible Charismatic Human).

Night 4 –
Liggy is wolfed (Mason).

Day 5 –
NocturneofShadow is Insta'd (Human).

Wolves:
Some good decisions were made and some bad decisions were made, in my opinion.  The setup choice was a safe one and there was nothing wrong with that.  Olimar12345 being lynched Day 1 was avoidable, but partially due to bad luck as well.  Funnygurl's death, however, could definitely have been avoided.  Having her false claim Seer was risky and was more harm than help, in my opinion.  That you decided to wolf Bird after seering him Blue was even more bizarre; he was either the Invisible Charismatic (in which case, you would only need to be careful with votes) or a Bulletproof that would not only block a wolfing, but confirm himself as Human!  Neither of those possibilities were worthwhile at all, you were better off taking the safe route, especially since Liggy actually doubted Sauce a bit (though, I suppose you didn't know that anyhow)!  Admittedly, your victory was partially maelstrom's fault (for his PM business) and mine (for not being present on time for the Insta; though, Humans could easily have switched their votes after voting maelstrom, so meh).  I would say performance was more or less average.

Humans:
To be honest, I think the Human Team did a rather mediocre job beyond Bird, Liggy, and Bubbles.  Not that everyone else played badly, but I didn't see as much in comparison to those three.  I was disappointed that Wills weren't used to their potential.  And when someone actually did use a Will for an important purpose (see: Liggy), it apparently didn't matter!  An average performance overall.

Game Overall:
Unfortunately, the game was fairly Wolf-sided.  And it's largely my fault for neglecting to advocate my opinion about the Traitor when Bird was helping me balance, so I apologise for that.  Coincidentally, just a few days ago, I actually found a MafiaScum game with the exact same premise as this one (except it was actually balanced!!!), which I'll definitely have to look at and potentially host if we ever want to have another game like this in the future.

Off-Topic / Math Fact of the Day
August 06, 2014, 12:43:36 PM
Here, I will be giving you a daily Math fact.  99.9999999% of the time, it will be a frivolous fact.  But it will be a fact!!!

Today's Math fact is that, of 2D shapes with the same perimeter, a circle will have the largest area.  And of 2D shapes with the same area, a circle will have the smallest perimeter.

What this implies (through some higher level Math I won't go into) is that, of 3D shapes with same surface area, the sphere has the largest volume.  Likewise, of 3D shapes with the same volume, a sphere will have the smallest surface area!

I won't go too in depth, but this is part of the reason why things like our planets and the Sun are more or less spherical in shape.  For the Sun (and stars in general), having a high Volume to Surface Area ratio compared to all other shapes allows the star to keep as much energy stored in itself as possible (which is related to its Volume), while releasing as little energy to the environment as possible (which is related to its Surface Area).

***Wolf - In this case, one of the Wolves remains a normal Wolf, while a random Human is converted to a Traitor.

Descriptions:

1. Wolf Roleblocker and Wizard
Wolf Roleblocker - Can target one Player each Night Phase via PM to the Host. If that Player attempted to use a power, it does not go through.  The Player is not alerted (a Seer would receive "no result" however).
Wizard - Can target one Player each Night Phase via PM to the Host. If that Player attempted to use a power, it fails, and any powers targeting that Player (including wolfings) fail as well.

2. Wolf Painter and Seer
Wolf Painter
- Can target one Player each Night Phase via PM to the Host, with a color (red, blue, or green) included in this PM. That Player will appear that color to seers the current Night Phase and following Day Phase. Can self-target.
Seer - Can target one Player each Night Phase via PM to the Host. At the beginning of the following Day Phase, you will be told that Player's color. Can self-target.

3. Wolf Forger and Invisible Grandma
Wolf Forger - Can target one Player via PM to the Host at any point in the game, including a message in this PM. If that Player dies, this message will be revealed to the thread rather than their will. Single use.
Invisible Grandma - Receives the Human role PM. If anybody targets this Player with a power, they die at the end of the phase the power was used.

4. Weakling Wolf and Drunken Seer
Weakling Wolf- If targeted by any ability, dies at the end of the phase the ability was used.
Drunken Seer - Receives the Seer role PM. Receives completely random seering results.

5. Brutal Wolf and One-Shot Bulletproof with a Gun
Brutal Wolf- If lynched, a randomly selected Player who voted for you will also die.
One-Shot Bulletproof with a Gun - Survives a single kill-attempt against him, as long as it occurs at night. Can target one Player a single Night Phase via PM to the Host. That Player dies at the end of the phase.

6. Wolf Shaman and Two Masons
Wolf Shaman- Can target one Player each Night Phase via PM to the Host. At the beginning of the following Day Phase, you will be told that Player's color. Can self-target.
Mason - The two mason Players know who each other are at the beginning of the game.

7. Wolf Janitor and Oracle
Wolf Janitor- Can target one Player one time at any point in the game via a PM to the Host. When that Player dies, instead of that Player's role and will being revealed publicly, it will be PM'd to the Wolves.
Oracle - Can target one Player at any point in the game, and change this target as frequently as desired via PM to the Host. When the Oracle dies, that Player's role flips to the thread in addition to their own.

8. Wolf Lancer and Friendly Neighbor
Wolf Lancer- Once per game, may convert a wolfing into a lancing. The wolfed Player will not cardflip, be able to use powers (eg. Bulletproof won't survive, Grandma won't return kill), or have their will revealed.
Friendly Neighbor - Can target one Player one time at any point in the game via a PM to the Host. At the end of the phase the PM was sent, that Player
learns who the Friendly Neighbor is.

9. Traitor and Charismatic Human
Traitor- A Human role that doesn't know who the Wolves are, but only wins if they do.
Charismatic Human- Charismatic Human receives the Human role PM and his lynch vote counts double.

*Extra Humans may be converted when applicable.

The game will be a Role Cardflip.  That is, upon death, the Player's Role will be revealed.

The setup initially begins with 3 Wolves and 9 Humans at the start of the game.  However, during the Twilight Phase, Wolves will be able to choose 3 of 9 different benefits/detriments.  For each they choose, the Human Team will receive a benefit/detriment of equivalent value.

This game will also incorporate a Mechanic called "Wills."  All Players may send me a PM containing a message that they would like to be posted at the end of the Phase if they die.  Wills may be changed at any point while alive.

Wolves win if it becomes literally impossible for Humans to win unless through a KitB or series of KitBs.

One option will be randomly selected.  Wolves will be informed which option was chosen and must select two more.  Humans are not informed of which options are chosen.  If the Role includes "Wolf" in it, Wolves select which Wolf is converted to the Role.  Otherwise, a random Human is converted to the Role instead.  Roles with the term "Invisible" in them will receive the Human Role PM.

Options:

1. Wolf Roleblocker : Wizard
2. Wolf Painter : Seer
3. Wolf Forger : Invisible Grandma*
4. Weakling Wolf : Drunken Seer**
5. Brutal Wolf : One-shot Bulletproof with a Gun
6. Wolf Shaman : Two Masons

Quote from: Brutal WolfYou are the Brutal Wolf!  If you are lynched, a random Player that voted for you will die alongside you.

Quote from: Wolf ShamanYou are the Wolf Shaman!  Every Night Phase, send a PM to the Host with the name of a Player.  At the end of the Night Phase, will receive a PM with that Player's colour.

Quote from: Wolf JanitorYou are the Wolf Janitor!  Once per game, may send the Host a PM to hide a body.  If that Player is killed, that Player will not cardflip, have his/her power used, or have his/her Will revealed publicly.  The Wolves will be told that Player's Role and Will.

Quote from: Wolf LancerYou are the Wolf Lancer!  Once per game, may send the Host a PM to go "Juggernaut" and convert a wolfing into a lancing.  The wolfed Player will not cardflip, have his/her power used, or have his/her Will revealed.

Quote from: Wolf ForgerYou are the Wolf Forger!  May send the Host a PM with the name of a Player and a message at any point in the game.  Once per game, if that Player dies that Phase, the Wolf Forger's message will be posted instead of that Player's Will.  May opt to discard the Will and leave a blank message as well.

Quote from: TraitorYou are the Traitor!  You win with the Wolves.

Quote from: WizardYou are the Wizard!  Every Night Phase, may send the Host a PM with the name of a Player.  That Player will not be able to use his/her power, but will also not be affected by any other powers.  If that Player is seered, the seering will yield no result.

Quote from: Seer/Drunken SeerYou are the Seer!  Every Night Phase, may send the Host a PM with the name of a Player.  At the end of the Night Phase, will receive a PM with that Player's colour.  Can't seer self.

Awards/Point Distribution/Player Analysis will be up tomorrow.

The_Subjective_Thought has won!
Olimar12345 has won!
fank009 has won!
davy has won!
BlackDragonSlayer has won!
K-NiGhT has won!

Player Analysis:

BlackDragonSlayer - You were frivolous and that's cool.  If the revival and redistribution didn't occur, you probably would have won as Mashi; so good job, I think!!!  Hilarious that you ended up dying at the end though.
The_Subjective_Thought - Flawlessly frivolous performance. MVP
Olimar12345 - Odd, but useful vigi choices.  Not that it mattered, since you totally steamrolled the Reroll and one the game shortly afterwards. Runner Up
Yugi - So close!!!  Probably should have given you a seering power or something similar, but you did okay, for the most part.  I think you probably could have snooped for Roles earlier in the game like Olimar12345 after redistribution, but you survived for a while, which was the important part of your Role.  Shame you didn't survive long enough!
NocturneOfShadow - You were gone for most of the game and then the redistribution occurred and then you were hilariously lynched, thereby reviving everyone else, which was a big game changer.  If you weren't lynched, you probably would have won!
Dude - Wish you had tried more!!!  Your fate was sealed as Mashi after the redistribution when NocturneOfShadow was lynched, thus reviving everyone and leading to more victories.
Waddle Bro - Main reason you lost was because you were lynched Day 1.  And when you were revived, it was impossible to win with Olimar12345 and co. trying to end the game.  Better luck next time!
fank009 - You did it!!!  Also lol at choosing Yugi for three straight Night Phases.
davy - Died Night 1 and hilariously won anyway.
K-NiGhT - You were gone for a lot of the game due to real life, sadly (don't you know TWG is superior???).  You won though; so hooray!!!

Quote from: davy on May 17, 2014, 02:21:09 AMThe main problem I have with your plan is that it removes competition from this game. This game is interesting as long as all players try to achieve their own win condition rather then trying to get as much players as possible to win.

Basicly: what TOST (the original subjective thought) said.

Well other me, if you want my "subjective thoughts" on that matter, I will objectively say that having objectively only subjective thoughts is a subject I thought I would never objectively have to deal with, and while on the subject of subjective thoughts I thought you would cooperate with my subjective thoughts so that I would reach my subjectively thought objective, but your subjective thought made you object, which is a subject for thought.

Mashi - One random Player except Mashi loses his/her lynch vote for all Players except Mashi at the start of every Day Phase (that is, the affected Player's vote only counts if it's on Mashi).  Mashi is informed of whom is affected at the end of the Phase.  Players regain their votes upon Mashi's death.  Vote counts as two.  Has a seering power.  Has a painting power.  Is seered Blue.  Can survive wolfings, but not vigis.  Can post a totem up at the end of every Phase.  Can have a death post.  CANNOT use time dilation.  Has no purpose in being here other than to troll the game.  Wins if no more than three people meet win conditions.  Bonus points if he/she uses frivolous in every single post made.
2. vermilionvermin - Wins if he's lynched.  When lynched, victory conditions randomised among remaining living Players with exception of Yugi.  Can survive one vigi.  Bonus points if Mashi and Bird are still alive upon achieving victory.
3. Bird - Wins if one of the last two Players remaining.  Can vigi one Player every Night Phase.  Bonus points if he/she kills the other remaining Player anyway.
4. Yugi - Wins if all three TWC Members are killed while Yugi is still alive.  Immune to vigis.  Bonus points if this game is actually a success.
5. Dude - Wins if he/she guesses all the Roles by the end of Day 3.  Has three tries to guess all the Roles while alive.  Automatically lynched at the end of Day 3 at the last second by magic because he's always a Wolf when we do that, regardless of who has the most votes.  If Dude actually has the most votes (with exception of those removed by Mashi) on Day 3 (or is lynched prior to Day 3), all Players except Dude are revived.  Dude does not achieve victory if he sends in the correct Role list but has the most lynch votes on Day 3.  Immune to vigis.  Host PMs Dude the Role of each Player that is killed.  If Dude achieves victory, one random Player that isn't Mashi, Bird, or vermilionvermin is killed.  Bonus points if he/she never posts in the thread upon achieving victory.
6. NocturneOfShadow - Wins if Yugi does not achieve victory conditions.  Bonus points if the game ends up as a flop, because NocturneOfShadow is too OP and defeats everyone without even trying.
7. wolf - Wins if Bird is lynched while alive.  If his victory condition is met, a preselected Player is brutalled (though, wolf remains alive because he's cool like that).  Bonus points if wolf turns out to be the secret Role human instead.
8. BlackDragonSlayer - Wins if he successfully predicts two of Bird's vigis by Night 4.  Has one guess per Night Phase.  Can send in predictions even if dead.  If victory conditions are met, Bird becomes unlynchable.  Bonus points if he/she somehow convinces people that Bird is BlackDragonSlayer or something because paranoia.
9. The_Subjective_Thought - Wins if more than 3 Players achieve victory conditions.  Bonus points if he helps kill Mashi somehow.

Edits Made: Dude now kills a random Player that isn't Mashi, vermilionvermin, or Bird upon meeting victory conditions.

Replacements -
10. Olimar12345 - Wins so long as vermilionvermin isn't lynched after replacement.  If a Player is replaced in the game, the replacement Player will be assigned the new Role of Olimar12345.  Bonus points if a replacement Player isn't even needed.

"Mwahahahahahahahaha," the evil Mashi laughed.

"You fiend!!!" Vanquisher shouted.  "I won't let you get away with this!" he announced, unsheathing his sword.

"I won't just get away with this!" Mashi yelled back.  "I will also get away from this!"

"... What?" the room announced, confused.

"I don't know, it sounded better in my head. :( " Mashi whimpered.

"H...  How did you pronounce an emote?" the Flying Dutchman asked, bewildered by Mashi's frivolous display.

"Time d-" Mashi couldn't finish because SlowPokemon teleported through dimensions and punched him in the face with the power of time di-" OW, SLOWPOKEMON, I AM THE NARRATOR.  DON'T PUNCH ME.

After this sudden setback, Mashi took a few seconds to compose himself.  "Now," Mashi said.  "Each of you have been assigned a mission.  And it is your duty to fulfill this mission.  If you fail, you will DIE!!!!!!!!!" he said, with emphasis on the word 'die' and with excessive exclamation points.

"Mashi, why are you doing this?!" Night Scene asked.  "It's... so evil."

"Don't say that!  I'm not completely a bad guy!  In fact, if you win, I'll give you my autograph!" he grinned.

"..."

"..."

"..."

"Oh, and I'll let you live and escape from here too, if that means anything," Mashi shrugged.  He was surprised to see some people sigh of relief and even look a bit hopeful.  "But you still have to fulfill my conditions!" he added.

"Mashi, but why are you doing this?  I feel so betrayed..." Pokemon Master asked.  This was terrible, how could Mashi be doing this to them?

"Because I'm a completely bad guy. B) " Mashi replied.

"You said a few moments ago that you weren't a completely bad guy," Flying Dutchman corrected.

"... You lose brownie points," Mashi muttered to himself.

"Noooo, anything but that!" Notion entreated.  "How can you do something so unfrivolous!"

"DON'T YOU CALL ME UNFRIVOLOUS, FRIVOL- I MEAN, UNFRIVOLOUS PERSON!!!" Mashi shouted with the strength of a thousand vuvuzelas.

"Watch me!  Unfrivolous, unfrivolous, unfrivolous!" Notion teased.

"Argh!!!" Mashi breathed out fire like Godzilla because he recently saw the newest movie.

"Ahhhhh, my left shoulder is on fireeee," Notion yelled.

"That's your right shoulder..." Leader sighed.

"Frivolouuus!!!" Notion yelled.

"You have 9 Twilights to achieve your conditions," Mashi told.  "And if you fail... I will do something really bad to you guys!!!"

"Like... kill us?" Knight asked.

"I mean, that is what he said originally," Night Scene noted.

"Yeah, that!!!" Mashi said.

"Except me, right?" Guy asked, making kawaii eyes.

"sry but u 2" mashi sed

Guy: :(

"Now, begin!!!" Mashi shouted.

And so they did.

---

"Why didn't I get an appearance?" Pharaoh asked.

"Because you made Host Sign Ups without permission and also you just appeared right now!!!" Mashi answered.

"Just as planned!!!" Yugi said.

The Werewolf Game / TWG 66: Host Sign Ups

Interest seems to be low, so I would suggest games not have any more than 12 Players and possibly even a bit fewer.

The Werewolf Game / State of NSM TWG
April 01, 2014, 06:26:08 PM
As many of you know, TWG on NSM hasn't been so active lately.  I feel a variety of factors have caused this; the loss of various members in the community, the business of TWC elsewhere (myself included), an ostensible lack of interest among the remainder of Players in TWG, and many other things.

Personally, I feel that the dynamics of the NSM community as a whole have changed and that the forum's current setting is no longer conducive to TWG, at least for the time being.  I'm not certain that TWG will be able to sustain itself if we bothered to continue, so I would suggest that an indefinite, extended break be made.  Note that if we do go through with this, we probably won't see TWG for at least a few months.  We could potentially restart during the summer, but we would have to see.

I want to hear feedback from people though, hence why I'm posting this topic.

So...

TWC:
1. Bird - While alive, there will be sinister tweeting heard at the beginning of every Phase.
2. vermilionvermin - While alive, the Wolves may choose to paint any Player in the game vermilion Red for a Phase.
3. Mashi - While alive, SuperFireKirby will make a cameo in each story segment yelling that Mashi is always a Wolf.  This does not mean that SuperFireKirby will not cameo after Mashi's death, however.  Actually, SuperFireKirby will always make a cameo.  This Role is just a normal Wolf.

Special TWGers:
4. Jub3r7 - While alive, no Specials (except Jub3r7) may be wolfed.  If Jub3r7 is killed, it will be revealed to the thread.  Does not know he/she is Jub3r7.
5. mastergamer_38 - While alive, the game becomes a true colour cardflip game because programming and hacking skills.  Does not know he/she is mastergamer_38.
6. Liggy - While alive, all Players may PM the Host for who they would like to be seered during each Night Phase because Liggy does Ballot stuff I guess, idk.  Seer results will be posted at the end of each Nigh Phase.  Does not know he/she is Liggy.

Story Telling / Campfire Tale
September 07, 2013, 03:03:27 PM
From the moment I follow this message with three dashed lines, there will be no discussion whatsoever of the story (even outside of the topic.  In fact, even if you break rules, there will still be no discussion until I permit it!!!).  NSMers will make posts only related to the story.  This thread is not for any discussion.  It's up to the discretion of everyone who posts here to decide the plot of the story.  You may add on whatever you wish, so long as its of literary coherence and novelty (in other words, what you write must be legible and you may not reference other forms of literature, movies, plays, games, etc. as major forms of plot.  Eg. A character being a fan of Doctor Who is permissible, but one may not introduce the Doctor into the story).  Cultural references are permitted (eg. A reference to Obama being President may be made.  If the story ends up taking place in the future, historical events past a modern setting may be contrived to everyone's discretion).

Those are the ground rules.  Don't try to add something to the plot that may not be popular with everyone, but feel free to form your own small plot devices.  You can do what you wish; add new characters, make up a backstory, create a setting, shift the narrative to a different person's perspective (keep it third person though), etc.  Be creative!  Everyone has equal control over this story, so have fun with it!

A young man named Clarence Gale was idling around in the basement of a library, searching for a certain book.

He had actually been searching for a few hours now for it, wondering where he could have put it since he last read it.

Fatigued from his incessant search, he decided to call it a day and return to his bed, perhaps eating dinner somewhere in between.  Walking up the dusty stairway, he eyed his surroundings.  The staircase was a pretentious type of stairway, one with old statues around each flight corner, a railing with elegant designs, walls painted with what seemed to be pictures of a neo-Renaissance type of work.

He arrived on the first floor, sighting the door that stated "DANGER: DO NOT ENTER" written in black Sharpie pen all over the door that was eligible even a few metres away.  It was hard to miss.

Clarence turned the corner to climb the next set of stairs, ignoring the door.  Or perhaps, heeding its warning.

He reached the second floor and opened a door in front of him.  He entered a small room.  It was very mundane compared to the gratuitously magnificent setting outside.  There was a wooden floor covered with a blue carpet and a wall that was half painted blue.  There was a bed in the corner alongside a small drawer with a small, purple book on top.
