I like this. It means those who find doing a whole piece daunting can work with another. :)

Quote from: NocturneOfShadow on March 07, 2016, 04:20:36 PMI like jazz as much as the next guy but I think it could be a bit of a turn-off for those who don't like jazz
Where are these people and how can I rid the world of them?

Quote from: Bloop on March 07, 2016, 09:53:42 AMI actually think the jazz-idea is more restricting than the two song mashup, because it forces you into that particular style. When putting two songs together, you can make it as jazzy or classical or br00tal as you like. I personally like the mashup better, but that's probably because I've always put more songs together in all my arrangement contest submissions. (I also don't have that much knowledge about jazz music)
There are a lot of different Jazz styles, though. It doesn't just have to swing; it could be a ballad or bossa-nova, etc. There's HEAPS of Nintendo Jazz-esque music to check out (Super Mario 3D World or Mario Kart 8).

You could write it as either a traditional Jazz piece (chords, solo section, etc.) or just notate the whole thing! It'd be a great learning experience for all! :D

I agree. I might even have time to join it. ;)

I totally knew you would use that song. :P

How about a JAZZ IT UP contest? Take a song and turn it into a Big Band Swing, Latin, Bossa-Nova, Bebop, Ballad, etc. I'd love to see moar Jazz around here! :D

I agree completely. It's just that my highest level of difficulty is probably most traditional RPGs on easy-mode... I'm not very smart or RPG-savvy when it comes to those things. Too many classes and drop-down menus and stats and equipment and *brain explodes*!

I dunno, I have a very delicate balance when it comes to 'hard' RPGs. Most are way above what I could ever hope to comprehend. :P

I'm a HUGE traditional RPG hater in truth. I really only like RPGs that allow you to cheat, e.g. Sticker Star & the Bravely series (more turns than one per actual turn), the Mario & Luigi RPG series (you can dodge) and Pokemon ('cause it's so shit easy). I just find it too hard otherwise and end up not playing them... XD

Precisely! I loved how hard it was in terms of the puzzles. Stick a fridge in a volcano, 'cause SENSE. XD

There were things I didn't like about it (no leveling up) and a ridiculously stereotypical storyline that wasn't even really a storyline, but I liked the concepts behind it and GOD THE MUSIC IS AMAZING!!

I've started playing Super Paper Mario and Thousand-Year Door and they seem to be more storyline driven, so I see why there's hate on Sticker Star. I enjoyed it, though, and would happily play it again. ;)

Nope, I LOVED it too! It gets 10/10 in my books! :D

I haven't played any of the other ones in the series, though, so I can't compare. :P

Uh-oh, Maestro's not gonna be happy about Colour Splash... XD

Fun fact: all four original recordings of the chosen works have the melody played by a high-pitched instrument; either flute or ocarina. I guess that's a requirement to be chosen for seasonification. :P

I'm on it! I'll have my verdict ready in a couple of days. ;)

Quote from: Dudeman on January 21, 2016, 05:47:54 PMIt's absolutely dumbfounding how in the world Jake Kaufman is able to compose such intricate, multi-voice pieces with ease. Like, this is the kind of stuff that keeps me awake at night wondering how we're supposed to survive in a world of prodigies.
Agreed completely. That guy is LEGEND. Seriously, every tune I hear of his I love! It's just crazy!! I'd love to do more of his work down the track. You have to be in the right mental frame to attempt it, though. XD

Quote from: E. Gadd Industries on January 21, 2016, 05:59:25 PMDAAAANG! You'd be really helpful in the MK8 Unofficial Arrangement Project! I mean, there is only one word to describe your arrangements: spot-on!
Hahaha! Thanks, E. Gadd! I love the music from Mario Kart 8 and I'd love to help out, but I'm currently busy with my own revamping project. I keep avoiding it like the plague so it's best that I spend some time fixing up them up before doing any new ones. I'll help out later if some aren't taken or done! :D

@Don: Oh, heck yeah! I've got a couple more I'd love to do from that game! I'll probably get around to them sooner or later.

ALRIGHT NEW 8-BIT MUSIC YEAHHHHH! Who doesn't like Shovel Knight? It took me longer than anticipated as it's actually seriously hard to arrange! I'll probably end up doing a Two Pianos version of it down the track, but for now it'll do. I'm too busy revamping my old sheets. Expect more soon! :D
