Site News / Re: Staff changes! (And happy solstice)
June 21, 2019, 07:02:43 PM
It's been fun and it's been a pleasure, but it's time I took some time off from NSM. Don't take this to mean I'm leaving for good! You guys are practically my family. I've spent over a third of my life as a member of this site, and I hope to spend many more years hanging out and seeing where NinSheetMusic goes next.
Welcome aboard to my replacements the new mods! May you wield the mighty hammer with fairness, temperance, and...moderation. I believe in every single one of you that you will do a fine job.
And to anyone I've made hate me over the years, I apologize for my inappropriate outbursts and misplaced sarcasm. I have a strong sense of "right and wrong", and sometimes I forgot I was talking to real people in the process. Hopefully stepping down will make some of you happy. You're free to fill my PM's with hate mail now! I promise I won't tell!
This has been a valuable and educational experience for me. I'll always treasure my time helping NSM become a bigger and better place, in whatever small way I could. Thanks for everything, fam. It's been lit. I'll be seein' ya.

- Daniel

Title should be changed to "Maya Fey ~ Turnabout Sisters' Theme 2001".

Due to the way this piece is layered, I found it more visually appealing for tied chords that then separate into different rhythms to all be stemmed in the same direction despite being in two different layers. This worked fine in MuseScore since I have the ability to hide note flags. However, I searched all over Notepad and found no such way to do the same there, meaning there is some messy flag overlap in several places. Please let me know what would look best!

I don't really have an answer for that. I just wanted to check the last time I had posted anything here, and that spiraled into cleaning up all my old links. I've had that arrangement sitting around for a couple of months, but didn't post it because I felt the need to clean up my PAT first. Today was just the first time I ended up doing it.

*notices ur necrobump* owo whats this??

Yes, hello friends, it is indeed I, posting in my arrangements topic. I had the time today so I've cleaned up my OP a little and removed all links to arrangements I no longer have the files for. There's still quite a bit in there I really need to fix up and get finished, but in the meantime...

Maya Fey ~ Turnabout Sisters' Theme 2001 (Replacement): [PDF][MIDI][MUS][MSCZ]

Please don't look at the on-site version of this; you might cry. This piece is in desperate need of a replacement. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. The only problem is the conversion to MUS: Because of the layering of this piece, I ended up hiding some note flags in the MuseScore version to give the chords a uniform look before breaking up into their respective rhythm lengths. Unfortunately, XML doesn't preserve hidden note flags, and I can't find any way to do so in Notepad. But I Notepadded the heck out of this one otherwise so hopefully it's not too wonky! Positioning is always a crapshoot during conversion.

It wouldn't be NSM without Purple logging in once a month to continue the Topic Kicking legacy

The general rule is that the piece is credited to the original game it's from. If the differences between two versions are significant enough or if obscurity is a big factor, exceptions can be made. In this case, I personally think the differences made by the GBA's compressed sound quality (I was able to notice a missing instrument in the first 10 seconds) are enough that if you were specifically arranging the PSX version, the arrangement might turn out differently, in which case I'd say this arrangement should be submitted under the GBA title. But other opinions are welcomed!

Hello again, COLUMNS; I'd like to remind you how to properly format a request, since you have a bad habit of not doing so. Also, the video you linked to is hard-coded to start partway into the video, after the songs you're requested. It would be wise to edit the url so that it links to the part of the video you're actually requesting.
