So do I, but that would be far too hard for me (since I'm just a newbie with no experience at all :D)

I love how you both spell "Plagiarism" wrong... ::)

And I would simply love to see how wrong YOU would spell plagiarism in Dutch, you bore ;) (I'm so sorry my English isn't as perfect as yours. 15 y.o. boy having had 4 years of English vs. a native speaker)

Help! / Re: Software
September 04, 2008, 11:43:05 AM
Well you can save it as a WAV file, but for saving it as a mp3 file, you have to download something strange, so that's kinda awkward...

Help! / Re: youtube to finale?

Okay, well I think it's more convenient to download a mp3-version of the song and slow it down with some software or even Windows Media Player, which I found out a long time ago is rather sucky  ;D

Help! / Re: Software
September 04, 2008, 10:49:35 AM
Well I asked a friend and he told me about Audacity, which is a FREE software program with of course limited functions, but I guess it's enough for the time being. I'm still thinking about buying Printmusic indeed. Thanks a lot

Quote from: kotorfanboy on September 03, 2008, 07:12:36 PMYou cannot. The only sound file that Finale can read and arrange are MIDI files. However, some of the arrangers on this site are talented enough to arrange by ear, and just with an mp3 of the song they can arrange it. A youtube video serves as an mp3 in this case.
Isn't this what we all do ::)?

Quote from: blah54 on August 28, 2008, 02:14:29 PMthis is something that's been beaten to death... why does it matter so much if the sheets are on the site or not? if you need sheets, then you can just download them off the submission forum...

and the submission team is a one-man team at the moment, unless something has changed...

I totally agree this is far too much work for just one, but I do think I does matter if they are on the site or not. I'm a newbie here and one of the things I liked best about this site is that it's so fantasticly organized. If you want a sheet, it's so easy to just look it up in the database and really, looking sheet music in all the arrangements of ppl really is a hell of a job... Which even makes it not worth to look for...

Help! / Software
August 29, 2008, 04:13:26 AM
I understand it's not the perfect forum to ask this because this forum is a Nintendo sheet music forum and not a music software forum, but I guess a lot of you have got lots of experience with music software so I was wondering.
We use Finale (Notepad) because it's easy (I totally agree), easy to download and free (well just Notepad of course). However it seems to lack a bit of software you can find in programs like Cubase SX, Cakewalk etc., which are therefore of course much more expensive. Could somebody please give me some advice which software is the best for my purpose (which means making soundtracks of songs with a lot of different instruments I'm gonna record f.e. a violin, acoustic guitar, piano, trumpet, voice, drums etc.). Can I best buy some good microphones and one of these expensive programs (and which of them is best according to you) or should I just keep things simple and trust on Finale?

Thanks a lot! :D

Help! / Re: Chords don't know anything about them >__>
August 25, 2008, 02:58:57 AM
Maybe your keyboard (if you have one) has got a dictionary function, so you can look up chords. I'll check the chords to be sure that way.

Fma7 = F A C E
Em13 = E G B C#
Eb(flat)ma7 = Eb G Bb D
Dm7 = D F A C
Dm7/G = D F A C (with a G in the bass)
C = C E G
Dm7/C = D F A C (with a C in the bass)
C = C E G

You're were almost right Parker ;)

Piano Arrangements / Re: GreekGeek's submission
August 25, 2008, 01:44:00 AM
Well I hope you're serious, because you are wrong. I don't even have MIDI for a keyboard or anything. I only have one MIDI out for my accordion, which doesn't even work so that isn't a possibility. Let me tell you how to get that voice out of the Piano 1 Part: go to Window; Instrument List; and there you go. You can setup the voices for your layers and choose voices. If you want I can switch the voice of Piano 1 in half a minute if that helps you to get convinced.

For the practical part in contrary, I guess you're right. It really really isn't very practical indeed so I think I will just bring the rhythm of Piano 1 part into the left hand of Piano 2 part, which actually has no use at all at the minute. It's just, I wanted to make it as perfect as possible so ppl wouldn't give some bad feedback, so I guess that didn't help, did it ::) I've been using NSM for a couple of years, I've downloaded like 100 pieces of sheet music and I really know how the use them and I also know that it isn't very strange here to make sheet music hardly playable.

I hope it helps you guys and I really know that you're of good will and wanna protect NSM, but I'd do anything to convince you because this is rather bummer to hear from your first arrangement. I hope my second one (which I've nearly completed) doesn't strike you as plagiarism and you might actually may like it :D

See ya
