Help! / Critiquing Submissions
August 06, 2018, 10:17:53 PM
Sometimes I'll be looking through the submissions thread, and there'll be something I'd like to suggest or add. Is this something that's frowned upon? I can understand if this is an activity reserved for the mods/veterans who truly know the formatting rules/arranging techniques/etc., so I wanted to ask before I go ahead and add my two cents in. Thanks!

Awesome! I'm sure that Megalomania is one of the ones that would be most requested.

Request / [SNES] Live A Live Soundtrack
August 03, 2018, 01:12:12 PM
I suppose this is the right forum for this.

This isn't necessarily a request for specific song or anything, but I wanted to recommend a game whose soundtrack goes unnoticed and I think deserves more attention. Live A Live is an obscure SNES game never released outside Japan, and its soundtrack was made by the great Yoko Shimomura. Frankly, I think it's some of her best work, but the game isn't really known enough for it to become super present in the mainstream.

Given the game's relative obscurity, I would think that there isn't much demand for its music. However, Ninsheetmusic has one song from the game arranged, ("Wanderer", arr. by Yugikun) and its popularity bar is half-filled, so I guess there is somewhat  of an audience for it, especially when some of the game's other songs are far more well-known than Wanderer.

Please don't take this request the wrong way--I'm not asking any one person to go ahead and arrange the whole soundtrack, as that's pretty unreasonable. I've been inactive on ninsheetmusic the past couple of years because I don't have finale and it was too frustrating to not be able to format it myself, due to the limitations of finale's free version. I should be getting the full version of finale soon, (thanks to my new student discount) and I would definitely be able to add some sheets from this game. I just wanted to mention it, and see if anyone else is interested. Thanks!

Here's the full OST from the game. (Timestamps are in the description) :

If you wouldn't mind, I think it'd be easier to start from scratch :P

Regarding time signatures- Did you consider writing in a quick 3?

Thanks for fixing the formatting and soundfont- you rock! :) Also, If I could trouble you, I would really appreciate it if you could go in and add the grace notes.

Quote from: Brawler4Ever on August 10, 2015, 08:06:11 AMI'll take a shot at it!

If you ever decide to drop the project, allow me to be first in line to pick it up. :)

True, I have seen 8/8 used that way many times. However, I've also seen it used as a very slow 4/4- kinda like the opposite of 2/2, which is a fast 4/4.

If no one minds my intruding- While my opinion may be uninformed, shouldn't it be written in 8/8 instead of 4/4? Yes, I'm aware that its pretty much the same thing, but I feel as if there's too much movement with the sixteenth notes for it to be in 4/4.

This song was pretty prominent in the series, so I figured someone should arrange it. I really appreciate it if someone were to A: Fix the formatting so it doesn't look so spaced out, and B: add grace notes were necessary. There are two sixteenth note grace notes before the first C in measure 1, that are a Bb and B. There are also two grace notes before the first C in measure 5, that are also Bb and B. Thanks in advance! :)

Well I'll do what I can with Notepad. And I'm gonna be away for a week, so it'll be a little while, but I'll see what I can do.

Hey, it seems I'm kinda late for the party, but is Pallet Town still up for grabs?

Alright I think I addressed most of the issues, and I replaced the .mus file. (And I noticed that I forgot a tempo marking -whoops.) Also, I'm gonna be away at camp all next week, so this topic may die down for a bit.

Sootopolis: I dunno, I think it's just something to do with it being 8-bit and all. Even if I were to add extra 16th notes at the                  beginning, I feel as if it wouldn't sound right at all, and it'd be even further away from the original piece.

Bespinben: -I went through and removed all 3-note chords.
-It sounds really really weird to me when the bass is an octave up. It didn't sound "dark" enough, if that makes any sense. I figured that it would retain the ominous quality of the original song if the bass were lowered.
-I adjusted the whole voicing issue.

Additionally, a little notepad issue: I am unable to attach the crescendo/decrescendos to just the right hand. If someone could apply all that to the R.H, keep the L.H. at mf, and have them both become mp at m.9, that would be swell. :)
