If by "OP" you mean "original post", then that's exactly what I'm working on right now! Though now that I think of it, is there a way to make links out of other text? Like, rather than posting the entire dropbox link can I have the word "PDF" or "MIDI" link to the files? I'm not super familiar with these forums.

There was an error in measure 21 I thought I had fixed. Corrected and resubmitted.

Eh? Oh, you mean we should post YouTube videos for the songs we submit? If so, I did not know that.

I have a quick question about this sheet: I arranged it to be as close to the original as possible, which resulted in some rather fast and specific rhythms. Specifically, the triplet sixteenth notes. While these are playable by an experienced pianist, I'm wondering if I should also include simplified rhythms in an ossia staff for less experienced players. Do you think I should do that, or leave the score as is for now?

I'm a little surprised no one's arranged this yet, but I can't complain about the opportunity.
If anyone's curious why I titled this "Disk System" instead of "Famicom Disk System Start-Up" or something like that, it's because "Disk System" is the title given to the track in the Nintendo Famicom Music album. As far as I've found, it's the only time Nintendo's given the tune an official title. I decided that would be the best name to use.

They were, I just decided to string them together in that order since the songs or so short on their own. If the order was different, then would the Smash angle be moot?

The songs in the Smash retro medley aren't modified at all; that game even lists the song as an "original" rather than a "remix". It doesn't really make sense to say it's from Smash, since the only thing that game contributed was the order the songs are presented. The actual music itself is straight from Wrecking Crew.

If I were to arrange the remixed Wrecking Crew Medley, then I think it would be more appropriate to list Smash Wii U as the game of origin, since that was written for that game.

Gotcha. Figured it was something like that.

Yay, new update! Unfortunately, I believe there was an error regarding Shin Onigashima, one of the new games. I check the "Other" section, and happened to have it arranged by release date. It shows Shin Onigashima as the earliest game (before even Ms. Pac-Man). It was released September 4, 1987, so should be placed just either between Rad Racer and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, or maybe just after that. (As far as I know, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! doesn't have a specific release day, just the month of September that year.

Oops, accidentally posted in the "In Progress" thread instead of this one. Looks like it got sorted out anyway. I think Olimar12345 was the one who caught that, thanks.
And I talked to Don, he says adding BIOS is a good idea. Thanks for the lead.

Hey there! I've been focusing on arranging 8-bit games, and I was actually thinking about Wrecking Crew lately.

I've been working on Shantae lately, but I like having a second project to go between. I'm actually surprised there's no Wrecking Crew on the site yet. How about I take a crack at it? Shouldn't take too long.

I can post a Dropbox link here when I'm done.

Cross-staff notation was the first thing I tried, but I found that it really doesn't apply in this case. The left hand spends more time in the treble range (especially in the B section) and only occasionally jumps down to the bass range. Having both hands on a single staff for most of the piece, with only the odd measure down in the second staff would make the arrangement cluttered and less legible. Even in the A section where the left hand is more in the bass with occasional measure-long forays into treble, crossing the staves would be more visually confusing than just switching clefs. I can see maybe a couple of spots where crossing the bass line into the top staff could be useful, but even then it risks obfuscating which hand should be playing, since it occurs when the right hand has rests before a pickup.

I tried out a few different things, actually. Continually crossing staves clutters the top staff, not changing clefs leads to excessive ledger lines, and the left hand doesn't leap between ranges frequently enough to justify a third staff. Clef changes, though frequent and perhaps unsightly to some, are what I considered to be the most readable and effective.

If you have any other suggestions, something I might have missed, please let me know! I'll certainly take another look at the arrangement if it's something that could help.

Has anyone done the Famicom Disk System startup theme yet? I don't see it on the site anywhere.

Followup question: For songs from hardware, do we need to add "BIOS" to the end of the system name? ("Famicom Disk System BIOS" vs. just "Famicom Disk System"). I noticed someone did that for the GameCube jingle and was wondering if that was standard.

Thanks for getting back to me, I must have missed the response in the other thread. That sounds fair, if business is swamped right now then I get that there's a backlog for processing submissions. I was just a little antsy since I'm sitting on a bunch of arrangements right now.

As for clef changes, yeah, there really isn't a significantly better way since too much 8va in the left hand staff is even worse. I've personally never had much issue with clef changes, so I imagine the barrier isn't too high.
