Quote from: Latios212 on February 04, 2019, 07:47:18 PMYay piano!

As I've said before, this stuff is the bane of my existence.  I only arrange these to spite myself I swear.

Quote from: Latios212 on February 04, 2019, 07:47:18 PM- The RH A's in m. 13-14 re-strike on beat 3.
- I think the left hand plays thirds (above what you currently have) on beats 2-3 of measure 25-26. In addition in between beats 2 and 3 of 26 the G-F movement on top of the right hand is more prominent than just one note changing; I think the G and F are octave doubled below. Double check your chord voicings here because I'm not 100% sure at the moment.
- Similarly the chords in m. 27-29 are more fleshed out in the original; give them another look.

Should be better now.

Quote from: Latios212 on February 04, 2019, 07:47:18 PM- The two layers in LH of m. 2 are aligned a bit strangely. I can suggest something if you like.

It looks fine to me, but if you want to suggest something go ahead.

Thanks for checking!

People might start to worry I'd had my account stolen if I didn't sub something from Fates.

I was trying to work out what to submit this time last night and I complete forgot about this one.

Edit: I had another look through this and added in some extra notes at bar 26 and a double barline before the segno.

Static and I discussed this on discord and I think the files are going to stay as they are.  The timings for the last bar don't match up with 4/4 and do match up with how I wrote them.  I can see how one could write the rest of this sheet in strict 4/4, but it just doesn't sit right with me for reasons that I've already stated.

Thanks for everyone's input on this sheet, and I do think it's in a better state than it was when I submitted it originally.

That looks a lot better!

Accepting!

So I agree with Latios on halving the note lengths, less so on it being in 4/4 (I think I don't really have a preference one way or the other).  But if you want to keep as you have then fair enough.

Other things:
-The ties don't look very even throughout and some of them are quite short on space.  It's probably caused by having so many measures per system, but the only way to alleviate that would be to go to three pages.  If you want to keep the distribution as is, you should got through and manually fix them (which will be a bit of a pain but I'm not sure what else you can do.)
For example of the 'unevenness'
this (bar 8):

-The bar numbers are really huge compared to the rest of the sheet.  Not sure what's caused that...

Everything else looks fine to me.

If you want my take, I'm with Levi on this one.  They can ... sort of be played, but this:

sounds practically identical and is 10 times easier to play.

Hey, it's the only Touhou game I've played!  The music in this game is great, particularly the boss theme for this stage is really fun.  Going through now....

-I don't understand the percussion stave; what purpose does it serve in the arrangement?  There are no indications for how it could be performed and I struggle to see any way in which it could be performed in bars 11-14.
-Although it is sort of clear what you mean with the direction in bar 15, it'd look way clearer as an ossia and there's certainly enough space to put one in.  You could just put it in the first bar and and the rest could be implied with a direction.
-The lower trumpet line in bar 24 sounds like it goes C D Eb F rather than C D Eb G.
-I feel like we can try to imitate the trumpet falls rather than grace into the following notes (which doesn't really sound like the original to me.)  I'm imagining something a bit like this, but you could play around with the exact intervals and timings.

If you keep it to four notes at at time your hands can be in the perfect place to play those really fast and it approximates the original really well (in my opinion anyway.)
-The lower trumpet line sounds like it's playing Gs rather than Ens in bar 30.  If you're worried about the harmony there then you've already got the Ens in the left hand so it should be fine.
-The trumpets in bars 59-74 aren't doing exactly the same thing as they were in bars 15-30 but you have them written identically.  An example is that there is a trumpet playing an En in bar 74 as opposed to their not being one in bar 30, but there are loads of other differences.
-No cool accompaniment left hand in bars 75-82?  I think it'd be nice to try to get those funky rhythms in there.  This piece is kinda the same thing over and over again in different keys and with different textures, so I feel like bringing those out is important.

Reset the articulations and updated the files.

Approved!

Nice!

Yeah you're right about the notes in bar 3, it's Bb En Bb as you wrote it.  The rest looks good.  Here's some more stuff:

-At the moment the first system looks very spread out, and to alleviate that I'm suggesting a different sheet layout:

(I can't really take credit for this, Latios came up with it haha.)  It also means the whole sheet fits nicely onto one page.
-Flip the RH notes in the first bar downwards as they should be normally.
-Fix the rhythm groupings of the notes in the right hand of bars 4 and 15 to show all of the beats.  (You do this because you're using semiquaver rhythms.)
-Perhaps add a double barline at the sign?

I think that's it.

Edit: Here's a file with everything except the double barline.

Sorry for all the back and forth, but could we move all of the systems on the first page up a little?  You've got some free space underneath the title and composer/arranger info and it's a little close to the copyright at the bottom.

After that this gets an approval from me.
