• Do you think it's worth keeping the flute in a separate layer throughout the whole part? In some ways it makes it more readable, but it does add a little more clutter
• I'm not really hearing what you have written in m27, do you want to replace the first two Bbs with the E-Fn-G figure the lower harmony instrument plays?

For the first concern, I think it's more appropriate for this section to be mostly in the first layer, because the flute part syncs up quite a bit with the main string melody for a majority of the segment compared to the last two phrases(if that's the correct word).
Measure 27 is changed slightly. The Bb comes from the bass, which I feel sounds more pleasant than the lower strings' notes, which makes it sound a bit more crunchy than I'd prefer. The flute also plays the Bb on count 4, so I thought it'd be more practical. I changed the initial Bb to play for 3 counts, similar to how long the flute's D plays, so the restrike feels a little more satisfying leading into the next measure.
I also made an adjustment to the last two measures voluntarily. I made a few of the chords triads in order to better embrace the end of the segment. I again avoided the use of octaves. Tell me what you think!

• For m14-17, do you think it's worth writing the lower layer in two separate ones?
• Do you think it's worth prioritising the lower layer in m23+, and rearranging the higher one? I understand wanting to make this part stand out a little, but it doesn't sound like the higher layer is really in the foreground

The wording confused me a bit on the first one. I wasn't sure if you were asking why there was a lower layer, as opposed to just writing the notes in unison with the melody, or why the notes of the octaves were part of the second layer. I agree with the latter in the sense that it's a bit overbearing, so I removed those low notes for better playabilty. I do, however, believe that it's worth writing the lower layer separately so there's a distinction between the two parts. If I misinterpreted any of that, I'm sorry.
For measures 23 and onward, I think the high flute-esque part makes the section what it is. I find it very important to keep in the arrangement and, as you said, it makes the segment stand out similar to how it does in the original piece. I did rearrange these measures a bit to make up for the amount of space between notes I had before. I mixed in pieces and parts to make it a bit fuller too. Let me know thoughts on those.

Just giving this a bump so it'll be submitted, since the other replacement has been accepted. I know it's been a while.

I wasn't sure what to title this. These two songs play one after the other in a sort of final cutscene where it tallies up your score and the team heads for home. Originally, I titled it "Andross's Defeat," since it plays after the final battle's over, though I wasn't sure if that'd translate as well. Maybe we could discuss a better name for it as we go along. A little bit of liberties have been taken to make the piece a bit more playable as well.

I think I'll grab the opening/title medley now. Since I claimed the closing one already, thought I should knock them both out.

Quick post before this gets accepted, I still think having the Bb and C# here at the very least would be good, to preserve the b9 and 3rd of the chord.

We added the C#, but left out the Bb because of the crunchy sound it gives off, which we feel distracts from the melody's A. We did add the E from the chord discussed before, however, moving it from the left hand to the right.

This is looking pretty good, only thing I wanted to say was m2 RH beat 2 you could add the G in the top layer but I know you already said you don't want to do 22,24, etc.

Yeah. I'd rather keep it out for consistency's sake.

Is there a reason why LH beat 1 in m13 & similar is dotted? I think it makes more sense to write this chord the same length as in other measures.

In the source it sounds a tad different. I believe the string part does hold for that long and the lower trombone-esque sound is held for a bit longer, so I wanted to extend the notes to sort of match the difference heard there. I feel it wraps up the section nicely too along with the crescendo.

• For m22, 24, etc you could add the L/R panned high Gs to the RH? Just to make this section feel a little less empty. If you want, you could put the notes in different octaves depending on which ear they play in as well, to add some variation. If you don't feel like doing this, then you should combine the last two rests in the respective measures to dotted halfs.

I think I'd prefer it to be left alone, with the exception of the dotted half rests, of course. I feel it and the proceeding measure do a fine job of building up to the accent strikes.

• I feel like the melody is written too legato in some places, and it might be worth adding some more articulation to it or changing note durations. I'm just concerned a performer might get the wrong idea, and play everything super smooth. That said, if you'd rather keep it written in the current style I think that's okay too

For this, I made the downbeats match that of the left hand's, similar to how they are in the source. For measure 2 though, I'm wondering if how I wrote it is all right. Mainly, if the eighth rest is needed or not.

Another tune I tried out before, but didn't get anywhere with 'til today. I sorta raised the song up an octave, 'cause I really don't find the chords in the lower register as appealing to the listen to.

I think I see where you're coming from now. Maybe a regular tenuto on the 16th is a fair compromise? That way we get the extra duration/weightedness without the implied continuity of adding a tied note.

I can get behind that suggestion. That could work.

Not having the flute play in the previous measure is a sensible option, but my main concern with this section is how playable it is. I think 8 consecutive 32nds at this tempo might be a little too much, but what do you think?
To make it a little easier, you could e.g. leave out some more notes, or have the LH play some of the last few.

I had the last two notes of the phrase cross staff to the left hand. I feel like that'd be okay, but if you think it should take the C's too, just to be safe, I wouldn't mind doing that as well.
