Music / Re: Classical (sheet) music

Quote from: G-Han on April 03, 2008, 08:05:04 AMIt's not hard to hear the differences between music from different periods. Passed my music exam without studying with an A-, haha. =)
I know what you mean. The biggest contrast is Baroque and Romantical! Baroque, of course, being mostly Harpsichord makes a difference in the structure of the music. Romantical is closer to modern, because of their access to modern pianoes. It is also more expressive and is not stuck on specific rules as much as baroque music. (However when it comes to organ music baroque cannot be touched!)

I'm working on Moonlight Sonata. The first movement is very slow. So it's as hard. (Unless you have trouble with 9ths.) The 3rd movement is insane!

Fur Elise is good. (If you don't know the original version...learn it.)
Umm.... Clementi Sonatinas are good.
If you are brave enough to try J.S. Bach stuff is excellent. It's baroque, not classical.(Trust me...Bach is hard! I'm about to start working on his Prelude and Fugue #3 in C# Major)
Hmm.....I'm learning Venetian Boat Song No. 2 by Mendelssohn. It's very beautiful and not that hard. Why not try that? Agian, not classical. Mendelssohn is Romantical. (It's all the same difference to most people. The period of classification just depends on when it was written.)

The best arrangement you are going to be able to find would be the Piano Collections arrangement. It's insane! You can buy the Piano Collections books at www.gamemusic.com or www.squaresound.com
I would highly recommend these books. I have both 8 and 9 (Plus the CDs that go with them) and they are awsome! They make perfect recital pieces. I'm even going to use two for Guild this year. (If you don't want to buy you can find scans at the ff music shrine. Although you won't be able to use printed scans for competitions or anything.)

Music / 16-Bit - Tracklist updated 4/4/08
April 01, 2008, 08:04:15 AM
The local music store where I live is putting in a recording studio ^_^. Since I know the guy that owns the place he gave me a tour, and said when it's finished they would record some stuff for me. I had been playing around with an idea already. This is 16-Bit. A CD of me playing piano arrangements of songs from 16-Bit games. The SNES was my first system, and it still rocks! What I would like, is for you to suggest some good songs. They can be from any game from the 16-bit era. (Genesis included) I'll be arranging all the tracks myself, and may post some of them on the site. I'll list the ones I'm already going to do below.

Super Mario World
Super Mario World Medly

LoZ: A Link to the Past
Ending Theme Part 1 & 2
Darkworld Theme (Maybe)

Final Fantasy IV
Normal Battle

Final Fantasy VI
Kids Run Through the City Corner
Fanfare
Medly (Maybe)

Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Emerald Hill Zone

Megaman 7
Boss Theme Medly (Maybe)

Donkey Kong Country
Jungle Swing
Donkey Kong Country Theme

Shining Force: A Legacy of Great Intentions
Shining Force Medly

Various Ideas I'm thinking of possibly doing
SNES Medly
Something from Super Metroid
Something from Super Mario RPG
Something from Mario Kart
Something from Kirby's Dreamland 2
Something from Harvest Moon
Something from Breath of Fire 2

Some of you may remember a piano composition that I had done a while ago called, Village in a Field of Flowers. Well this is an arrangement I did of it with multiple instruments. I want to know if you think it needs some bass instrument like a cello, to balance the notes.

Help! / Re: Piano HELP!!!

I understand what you mean. My teacher often tells me to look at the music, because I'll be fumbling around trying to remember what I just got done reading. I'm getting better at playing without looking, and at the same time improving my sightreading skills. As for large jumps...I think you kind of have to look.

It looks pretty good. (They have a website up already) I think there are better bands that they could have focused on though.

@Harvest: Better yet, imagine it in a Zelda game! Can you imagine a game like Twilight Princess with that in it!!!! Or a METROID GAME! *golden light shines* That.....would.....be...awesome!

@B-K: They mean the next-gens: Wii, PS3, 360. The star wars game is going to be on all three platforms (With the Wii version getting some special treatment) and the Indiana Jones game is going to be on PS3 and 360. Which stinks 'cause I don't have either. I bought a Wii instead. (Which I love my Wii, don't get me wrong. It was SOOOOOOOO worth the money!!!!!)
