This might be the finest update announcement I have ever seen. I'm getting hungry just reading it...

Good work everyone!

Harvest Moon 64 - Title Screen
[MUSX] [MUS] [PDF] [MIDI]

And this marks the milestone of my 20th arrangement here on NinSheetMusic! With it, I've returned to the game that got me started arranging with a longer and more challenging sheet that I could only dream of attempting before starting this arranging journey almost a year ago.

Whenever I hear this track, I can so clearly picture the iconic title screen of this game with the awkwardly worded "Push the Start" and the typo in the publisher's name. It's actually a pretty neat composition, with the repeating bass vamp and the flute solo that sounds like it could be improvised. The translation to piano was a little awkward for this one, as some parts of it were quite dense, but I hope it came out alright in the end. I think something's off with the grace notes formatting-wise but I'm not really sure how to fix them, so please let me know if you have any suggestions!

- I think the dyads in m. 8 are like this (similar for m. 16 but might need some adjusting because of the other layer included)
You cannot view this attachment.
- m. 11/15 should have Gb instead of Ab in the second layer (RH)
- Beat 2 of m. 20/28 has Ab on the bottom, not Bb
[close]
- Fixed the notes m. 8/16. I think the violin in m. 16 goes Db-Ab-Db so the same thing should work there.
- Fixed all other notes too.
- Something I noticed myself - I checked the bassline in m. 20/28 again and I think it goes like this (before I just had an Ab on beat 3 and nothing on beat 4):
Spoiler

(This was before I fixed the melody oops)

- Could we include the dyads in the left hand? It would be a pretty simple addition to what we currently have and would add a bit more color without making it more difficult. In measures 1-2 C#s beneath the F#s, in m. 3-4 B's beneath the E's, in m. 5-6 A's beneath the C#'s, etc.
- Some of your RH notes are flipped in m. 9/17.
- Somehow those dyads escaped my ears completely when I did this, but they're in now and it sounds a lot fuller! Thanks!
- Fixed the flipped stems.
- I also tried to align the dynamics better in the first 8 bars; let me know if anything looks off there.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life - Quiet Winter (Song of Silence)
[MUSX] [MUS] [PDF] [MIDI]

A Wonderful Life is the only game in the entire Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons series that doesn't have separate seasonal themes for each season. Instead you have a record player on your farm which you can use to play several unlockable records, most of which are arrangements of songs from past games. This song is one of the two records you start the game with, however, and is original to this game. It's official English title as stated in-game is "Quiet Winter", but it is also commonly known by the translated Japanese title, "Song of Silence".

This arrangement is in decent shape (it sounds like the song at least), but it still feels like there are some missing harmonies that I'm struggling to pick out. Also, there's some pretty confusing instances of voice crossing in the right hand that could maybe be cleaned up, but I'm not sure how to do that while keeping the original melodic contours intact. Any feedback on these points (or anything else you see) would be greatly appreciated!

A case could also be made for this song being in 6/8, but there were some instances in the melody that leaned very strongly towards 3/4 (the eighth note triplets for example) so that's what I went with. Though the bassline could easily be 6/8 in the second half, I'm hearing it as more of a syncopated pattern. In case like this where it's kind of ambiguous I prefer to go with 3/4 anyways because it's easier to represent typical 6/8 rhythms in 3/4 than vice versa.

Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility - Cooking
[MUS] [MUSX] [PDF] [MIDI]

You're absolutely right, I went to play this on piano today and those spots had escaped my attention. I just brought the dyad down to the next chord tones, it doesn't disrupt the sound of it much at all.

- I think the tuba part is actually D-C#-B-A in m. 15 and D-C#-B-C# in m. 16, in which case I had it wrong anyways. I changed it to that.
- Good catch on the ties; I took them out.

Thanks for taking a look!

Tiny suggestion, but it might be worth considering using D#'s instead of Eb's in the melody so you don't have to go back and forth between Eb and E natural. I could see it going either way because of the D natural in the bass so it's not necessarily wrong, just something to think about.

This is the last arrangement from me for this project, and probably the most challenging of the three arranging-wise.

There are a lot of food-inspired titles in the Stardew Valley OST so it would be a shame if I didn't tackle at least one of them for this update. I find that this OST always presents an interesting arranging challenge due to the unique instrumentation, as well as the use of reverb and delay effects. This song is the theme for one of my favourite characters from the game and plays during one of his heart events. Hope you enjoy!

The note about skipping to m. 52 is because there is an extra section that is added to the theme if you have the expansion packs for the game. Skipping to m. 52 preserves the original loop while continuing on follows the extended version.

(The title I used is from the composer's own upload of this track, which is an example of the non-extended version.)

I'm no expert in these matters, but if you are able to estimate the amount of hours it would take you to do the project you can use that to calculate your flat rate. Another option, common for copyist work, is charging by the page. This usually factors in the complexity of the music (creating a piano part would be less per page than a full orchestral score, for example). Per page is nice because you don't have to track your hours but there's still a concrete way to justify your price. It's worth looking around at websites of people in the business to see what their rates are too.

I can't speak to the second one, but I hope this gives you something to think about at least!

If it works this way we're just going to leave it the way it is. But thanks anyways for the suggestion!
