Human Victory

Game Summary
The action was pretty good leading up to the start of the game, starting a bit as far back as when I first posted it in the sign-ups a few games ago. Player sign-ups brought some questions to me that indicated that this game would develop far better than I would've hoped. And boy, did all of you not let me down!

Night 1:
Verm began by trying to form some sort of voting alliance, only to realize that his plan hinged on the wolves knowing each other, only to realize later that they did not. Verm and Bird later caught the Master Wolf (SocialFox) on the first night by getting him to trip up in the chat. Once this came to light, in combination with Dude's death, people proceeded to lynch Social the next day.

Wolfed – Dude (socialfox), Seered – Social (blueflower)

Day 1:
Here is where all the fun began. A flurry of deals found their way to the top offices of M's Super Emporium Inc. (located on the lower east side of Dis, near the outlet of Styx), with numerous propositions by our dear Avian friend, Bird, eventually deciding to jump from the wolf's ship as it rapidly approached the oncoming iceberg. Finding his situation grim, Social only dug his hole deeper, leading to his lynching.

Lynched: SocialFox

Night 2:
Not much happened outside of the usual nightly activities, Waddle struck a deal revealing all of the red players.
Wolfed – BDS (davy); Seered – davy (bluflower999); Guarded – (Sheikah)

Day 2:
Waddle's above list proved to be quite problematic, as that was the point where players began to really realize how these deals would come back to bite them (oh, I had so much fun!). Bubbles tried to change her color, but it was all in vain.

Lynched: Bubbles7689

Night 3:
More fun with lists, more fun with deals, more fun with death! Most nocturnal action from this point on would be carried through deals or other means by PM. See the list of finalized deals below to get an idea of action from behind the scenes.

Wolfed – Waddle Bro (verm); Seered – FSM-Reapr (blueflower999); Guarded – davy (Sheikah)

Day 3:
FSM and davy broke their contracts by extensively talking about one of davy's deals. Bird figured out the gzg was responsible for the list posted Night 3 and that verm was a wolf based on the list posted prior to that (Night 1).

Lynched: gzgregory

Night 4:
Wolfing – Blue (verm); Seering – none (blue); Guarding – shadowkirby (sheikah)

Day 4:
Verm posted a list trying to make him look innocent; Bird saw right through it, but the other players were more interested in taking out shadowkirby.

Lynched: shadowkirby

Night 5/Day 5:
Because verm lost the ability to wolf, nobody died Night 5. Bird lead a quick lynch against verm, winning the game for the humans.

Player Analyses
1. The Boy Who Cried Wolf
Several times you made deals to warn you if anybody every acted against you (wolfed, serr, etc.). This was about the only thing you did of note all game, as you just sat back and followed the other player's leads. This all proved to be in vain, as nobody was ever interested in you, at all.

2. Bubbles 7689
You weren't prominent until your name came up in the list revealing all reds. That, combined with your inactivity and practically no existent defence lead to your lynching.

3. Vermilionvermin
You got saddled with a large burden by being turned into a wolf, but you really handled the evidence against you pretty poorly. Once people began to realize that this least were telling more than they let on, you tried to use that to your advantage, and it only staved off your own demise. At any point did you think to change yourself back, paint yourself, or try to flip those lists in any other way than "I was briefly a wolf"? If you did I must have missed the logs. Hell, it was really as simple has "Hay, Mephy-dear, could you stop posting those lists? kthanxbai." I personallly found it hilarious that Bird found the player that he inadvertently turned into a wolf and got him lynched in turn (eventually).

4. blueflower999
You were Faust! You provided a few theories of your own, eventually claiming to the thread as Faust. Your death was brought on by some bad luck due to verm killing you via loose cannon.

5. BlackDragonSlayer
You turned yourself into a miller, for reasons I don't really understand, in an attempt to gain Socials trust. A really needless move as you probably could've acheived the same effect without doing so. I suppose your plan was to be seered at some point, which you were, sort of, but it really proved to be a hasty move with no "end plan". You suspected Verm early on, and tried to follow up on it, though it ultimately didn't happen until after your death. Keep on those instincts!

6. Bird
You flipped early on, and proved to be the leader for the Humans, leading them to every wolf in your path. Another good performance, and your inquiries about a few potential deals proved to be invaluable as you would later approach me with caution. You seemed to be the only one, besides maybe davy, who seemed to grasp the reality of the deals early on and took everything since then with a grain of salt.

7. Gzgregory
Your lists proved to be quite useful, as they pointed the humans in the right direction, eventually comfirming a few wolfs after your death. A good move, and really your only main contribution to the game outside of some minor follow throughs (granted in vain since you had no voting power anymore).

8. the_last_sheikah
As Gretchen, once you lost the ability to choose your targets, you made a deal to only target wolves, giving you a layer of insight that nobody else really had. You used this knowledge to pursue them in turn. Way to make a bad situation work in your favor.

9. FSM-Reapr
You confirmed Social as the Master Wolf, though by that point there was never really any doubt about this fact. You and davy got into a bit of an argument over his Duelist deal, incriminating yourself as being affected by it, getting you kicked from the game.

10.  Davy
You made a Duelist deal, originally for yourself, but it was altered to only affect other players. This would later get you lynched, but you already knew that. You were on top of your game, making your wolfings quick and effective, and providing enough relevant and helpful gameplay to keep you off of people's radars. Unfortunately, your spat with FSM got you kicked, which is a shame because you set yourself up well in this game.

11. Shadowkirby
Yoou were barely active, really only here long enough to cast a few votes. You were turned into a wolf Night 4, but you were a punk and just let yourself get killed.

12. SocialFox
Caught in the act early on by both verm and Bird, you lost this game without even trying. Unfortunately for you, you managed to cause problems after your death, proving to me that you don't know how to follow simple rules. Don't expect me to play any games with you or hosted by you anytime soon.

13. SlowPokemon
Inactive, removed after Day 3.

14. Dude
Wolfed Night 1, dems the brakes, kid.

15. Waddle Bro
A ggod game by you, your list got the ball rolling for the humans, unfortunately that seemed to be the extent of your effective playing as you were wolfed Night 3. All in all, not bad for your second game.

Awards and Honors
Human MVP - Bird
You really were the driving force behind the human's victory, your instincts and deductive skills proved to be invaluable as you saw right through the lists and managed to cut through all of the bullsh*t.

Wolf MVP - Bird
You made the smartest moves by both inquiring about multiple deals and choosing the ones thought would be the most beneficial to you, and had enough sense to jump ship once you saw the wolves had a real uphill battle on their hands.

Aftermath
Rembember how I said there would be a surprise if you survived the game and won?

The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Bird, and the_last_sheikah will all be granted a special advantage for the next game I host, which will be a conventional witch hunt. More on that later.

Thank you all for making this game run smoothly (mostly), I hope to be able to revisit this idea later, but on the other side of the table.

Until next time,

Game Summary:
Night 1:
Oh boy, did some sh*t go down. First Jub starts a gambit to get the wolves to claim to him. Davy counterclaims FSM, and Verm's trying to get everybody to claim to him so he can deduce who the wolves are. This chaos would eventually play into the wolves defeat.

Day: 1
With Jub about to tell the whole thread about the wolf identites, K-Night puts the kibosh on that and has him Beheaded. The result was an 8-hour day phase. Fun!

Night 2:
Most of the action was about the Davy/FSM Debate, with Verm and Mashi working behind the scenes, setting up for what would become a rather trivial endgame. Verm had figured out all of the wolves at this point, it was just a matter of confirmation before pushing for lynchings. Verm passed on his suspicions before he was wolfed, so all was well in the end.

Day: 2
Mashi picked up where Verm left off and pushed for a lynch against K-Night. Not a moment too soon either, had he pushed for a Davy/FSM lynch the game could've been lost right then and there. The wolves were still in the dark about each other, a fact that allowed the humans to further confuse them later in the game.

Night 3:
Davy claimed to be Stalin as an attempt to find the remaining wolves and as an excuse to offer up the "wolves" to the other humans, much like Jub did earlier. Unfortunately the humans were fairly resigned at this point as to who the wolves were, so they saw this as an opportunity to screw with the wolves by send both FSM and Bubbles to claim as wolves to make things worse. Their plan worked, as it prevented the wolves from uniting until it was too late.

Day 3:
A short phase because of the insta on Davy. His plan failed as he trusted Bubbles over Kman and left him, a fellow wolf, out to dry.

Night 4:
End Game - Mashi outlined the lynching plan for Sheikah and Kman. He successfully guarded himself after leading everybody to believe that Spit was the guardian. At this point the humans were more interested in toying with the wolves, none moreso than Bubbles. This resulted in a feeble attempt for the wolves to bounce back, which only lead to more trolling.

Day 4:
Shiekah tried valiantly to fight, but in the end was overcome by an insta. After a brief game of Go Fish, Kman surrendered the following phase.

Player Analyses:
Bubbles:
Our newcomer. After a bit of hesitation early on, you soon became a force to be reckoned with about halfway through the game. You claimed to davy and supplied him with a list of false roles. Perhaps it was this list that made him trust you over Kman as Caligula. Later, when Sheikah was trying to strategize you lead him along so beautifully, eventually putting the final nail in his coffin as he tried to so valiantly. Well done, young lady.

Sheikah:
You wolfed Spit, later claiming that he's a good first target to avoid the Manti Rule and still make it look like an experienced player did it. You claim to Jub as Andrew Jackson, though the idea was at the time to troll him. Unfortunately for you Jub was using it as a ploy to find the wolves and had it not been for K-Night your identity would've been given out. Jub managed to tell Mashi that somebody claimed Jackson, and you had mentioned the same earlier. This would be what got you in the end, as Verm figured that you were sheikah. The rest of the game was spent by you being playe by the humans, and most notably Bubbles who lead you to your own lynching.

Jub3r7:
You claim to be a wolf in the thread as a way to find the other wolves. The idea was to just dump what others told you and use it to lynch all of the wolves. While the intention was good, it wasn't thought out as it got you killed the following day. You were at least able to uncover sheikah before you died, so it wasn't a total loss.

K-Night:
You killed Jub in an attempt to save the identity of a fellow wolf. Not much was seen from you for the rest of the game, and once suspicions turned towards you you committed suicide.

Dude:
You've really perfected your vanishing act. Not much was seen or heard from you throughout the entire game, but you did came in at the last moment to insta Sheikah, which essentially won the game for the humans as Kman surrendered afterwards.

Davy:
Davy, davy, davy. Why Davy? Why did you do it? First you counterclaim FSM as Cleopatra. This wasn't a bad move, as you probably could've talked your way around FSM and get the humans on your side. You fell for Jub's bait, which could've been bad had he not been beheaded. Things were going so well for you, people were still on the fence about your humanity, all in all you weren't in a bad spot, yet. Then you claim to be Stalin, much in the same way Jub did earlier. This was all the evidence Mashi needed to push a lynch against you. You try to back peddle out of it by saying it was a ploy, and you produce Kman and FSM as the other wolves. This screwed over the wolves, as the other humans were certain FSM was human at this point, and you allowed Bubbles to gain Sheikah's trust by say she was Caligula. Davy, davy, davy. Why?

Spitllama:
You were ready to go at this game with everything you had. You got use of New Deal by activating your power as Catherine. Unfortunately you were wolfed Night 1. Better luck next time!

Vermillionvermin:
You hit the ground running. First thing you started doing was strategizing, and you quickly took the reigns as leader for the humans. Between you and Mashi, you were running this game from start to finish. Through a a brilliant gambit, you mabaged to coax Sheikah into claiming Catherine, giving all you needed to find the wolves. By Night 2 you had figured out the identities of all the wolves! You passed on your suspicions to Mashi, who took up the reigns after you were wolfed. A stellar performance.

Mashi:
You let Vrm take the lead at first, acting as mainly as a means of assurance to the humans. Once Verm died you took over and lead the humans to a solid victory. Using the list Verm gave you, and your own abilities, you found and routed all of the wolves. You even were granted an opportunity to further exasperate their problems by sending FSM and Bubbles to troll them to no end. Another strong performance.

FSM-Reapr:
You start the game by getting into a claiming war with Davy, both claiming to be Cleopatra. You stayed in constant communication with Mashi which lead to your credibility as a human. Most of the game you were focused with proving your innocence, that you didn't really focus on anything else. Once Davy claimed to be Stalin, something you figured a while ago, you claim to him as Andrew Jackson. This later proved to be crucial as he tried to sell you and Kman out as wolves, believing Sheikah and Bubbles to be wolves.

Kman96:
You stuck towards the background for most of the game, only popping up every now and then to throw in your two cents. You claimed to Verm as Catherine II, saying you had gotten Brutalling as a result, to later use as an excuse if you got lynched. Between this, and side-stepping the Davy/FSM Debate, you had all but confirmed yourself as a wolf to Verm. You managed to wolf him the second night, but the damage had been done as Mashi later rallied the humans together to lynch you along with Sheikah.

Shadowkirby:
You didn't do anything except for saftey on Kman, who later wolfed you as a way of saying thanks. Both you and Dude desrve a medal. In fact...

Honors:
MVP: Vermillionvermin
Through some clever planning on your part, you found the identites of all the wolves by Night 2. Had you not have died I'm sure you would've continued to lead the humans to a sound victory

Rising Star: Bubbles7689
You were able to lead Sheikah on, making him believe you were a wolf which lead to his downfall. You were able to report all of his actions which allowed the humans to stay one step ahead. Fantastic work for your first full game.

Honorable Mentions:
Davy - You tried rather valiantly to stay one step ahead of the humans, but you claim as Stalin proved to be your undoing as it gave the humans everything they needed to lynch you.
The_Last_Sheikah - You, too, also tried to fight, but your trust in Bubbles allowed her to undermine you, effectively sealing your fate.

Final Comments:
Success! I'm glad my first game was successful and enjoyable by the players. The humans, from thr first moment, were on their game. The wolves were actually all in sync, for the most part, but their blind faith in other claims is what lead to their downfall. All-in-all, it was a good game, fought well by all.

And with that, I declare this, XXXVII TWG, officially:
COMPLETE
#43
TWG XXXVII – Time for a History Lesson
There are four groups of four leaders; one from each group is a wolf. Players do not know who their group members are. If two members of a group die, then the remaining player will lose his/her power and will be informed of such.

Teams:

European Royalty:
Henry VIII (England)Wolf Painter (Red) – Beheading, can call for an immediate lynching of the player with the most votes, thereby ending the current day phase; one use only. If a KitB results, he can choose the player to be lynched. If no votes have been cast it functions like a KitB. People who haven't voted yet do not get a phantom counted against them.
Louis XIV (France)Human (Green) – Extravagance, use of this power will disable use of every other players' powers for two phases, the current phase and the following night/day. This power supersedes all other powers, once used it will be announced in the thread at the end of the current phase. Any powers that were activated before its use will return to their respective players and will not count against them as being used. One time use only.
Catherine II, the Great (Russia)Human (Green) - Copycat, can use the power of another player. When the host is PM'd, roulette is done for all of the remaining powers that can be activated during the phase in question. The player can then use the power as they wish; copying can only be done three times. The player cannot use copycat while holding onto a power.

American Legends:
George WashingtonHuman (Green) – Persist, can extend the phase by an additional 12 hours. Must PM the host before the end of the phase in question, if an insta occurs at any point the phase will still end as normal; announced as soon as the host is notified. If used the player will be immune to lynching/wolfing during the extended phase. One use only.
Andrew JacksonWolf (Red) - Duelist, if in a KitB he will always survive. In the result of a KitB with three or more players, he can choose a player that will be ignored in the dice roll (a free pass). Unlimited uses.
Abraham LincolnHuman (Green) - Emancipation, can free a player from being lynched, thereby forcing the player with the second most votes to be lynched. Must PM the host before the end of the phase. If a second player doesn't exist, or if it's an insta, no lynch occurs. One use only.

Ancient Rulers:
Alexander the Great (Greece)Human (Green) - Rally, can steal another player's power from a different team to use as his own. Usable only once and activated at night, the power cannot be activated unless one of his teammates is dead. If the player chooses a teammate, then the power will returned. The targeted player will be told he lost the use of his power and why, Alexander will then only be allowed to use the power as many time that remained for the original player.
Emperor Caligula (Rome)Brutal Wolf (Red) - If lynched he can choose another player to die with him.
Cleopatra (Egypt)Human (Green) – Nullifier, can nullify the vote and power of another player. Must PM the host before the end of phase, if an insta occurs this power supersedes it. One use only, activated during the day.

20th Century Trifecta:
Franklin Delano RooseveltGuardian (Blue) – New Deal, can restore a power of any player of his choice. Can be used twice, the effected player will be granted an additional use of their power to be redeemed whenever they choose. Activated at night.
Joseph Stalin - Master Wolf (Green) - Forge, can change the vote of any player during the day phase. Must PM the host before the end of phase, if an insta occurs the power is ignored and wasted. If the chosen player doesn't vote, it counts as if he did but the player still receives a phantom. The change is not announced in the thread. Two uses only, activated during the day.
Winston ChurchillSeer (Blue) – Spy, by random chance (20%) will receive word of who the wolves will wolf; however, he will have to sacrifice using his seering power to gain said information. He will be informed in the information is available. Spy will not be usable Night 1, unlimited uses thereafter, activated at night. I will only accept the first PM you send me either seering or spying. If you choose to seer before I can relay spying intel, you forfeit the use of the power for the night.

Nuclear Deterrent:
If in the event that over half of the players activate their powers in a two-phase period (i.e. a consecutive day and night), some young upstart from Germany will come around and declare war, triggering an Apocalypse. This Apocalypse will result in every deceased player will resurrect as zombies and hold a private lynching and strip a different player of his power between phases (Phase 0). This phase will begin the following phase the powers are activated. It will last 24hrs (like a single night) and once the matters are completed game play will continue as normal, picking up the following phase.

All wolfings, seerings, guardings, paintings, and the usual will not be effected by the powers, and as such occur as normal. I will only accept the first choice for wolfings. Once I get the PM with the target's name in bold the choice will be final. Also, there will be penalties if you wait too long to send in a wolfing PM, as I need have enough time to send any potential spy intel to Churchill. Power activation will be the same; power you are activating, player you are targeting.

Flow chart of powers:

Music / The NSM Community Orchestra Project!
May 04, 2012, 01:18:42 PM
Summer is right around the corner, and I had an idea for the community here.

We get as many people we can muster to join together to perform a piece that will be a testament to both the website as well as the fantastic talent that comes through these doors. I'm not talking about us all learning one piece to play in unison, nor am I talking about some sort of medley that this site already organizes; I'm talking about a piece, a single arrangement or medley, in which we have 10, 15, 20 pianists each playing a part unique to them! And why stop there? We could even extend this to our other instrumentalists, make this one fantastic event in which we can all participate.

Granted, we'd need someone to arrange all of this, figure out some rehearsal times, and find a way to put this all of this, but I think we could get this done before school starts back up in August. I am aware that some of us will be in school during this period, including myself; but what's the point of music if not to try something ambitious.

So, what do you say? Ideas, comments, concerns, criticisms?

Wanted: 2 composers for a special project.

Pumpy_ heart and I would like to find two individuals whose compositional styles are different enough from each other as well as the rest involved. In order for me to understand your abilities and style, I would ask those of you interested to submit a work or two that you consider to be your best. I would ask that the submission be that of orchestral music, because that is the ultimate nature of this project and I'd rather not take the time to build a score of off a draft.

If you would like to have a chance at this opportunity, please let me know here and send me a submission via PM. The submission will be checked with the others on the project to see if it is going to be distinct enough to ask you to join us. If you have any questions, please post them here.

Feedback / Search Feature?
October 05, 2011, 09:53:44 PM
I was wondering what it would take to implement a search feature on the site. With 2000 sheets, and expanding, it might be nice to have a search engine so people don't need to sift through the entire site to find it. Yes, the way it is organized is fine, but if people come here to look for something specific, it'd be easier to just type it in and have it come up. Just an idea.

Off-Topic / Storyteller/Writer and Linguists Wanted
September 26, 2011, 11:17:15 PM
I'm looking for some people to help me with a project I'm getting ready to start. I'm looking for a writer who can weave a good drama with very few sources or reference material. I don't want to give away too many details about the story due to its subject, though I don't believe there's anything wrong with it except its source...

I need the linguists for for a key part of this project. I'm just look for people who can translate a few lines from English into other languages, the list of languages will come later.

Normally I'd ask one of my friends for this, but there are some talanted writers on this forum as well as this site being a meltingpot of nations. I will give more details when I find a writer.

Music / Orchestral Submissions-Temporary Holding Area
August 28, 2011, 12:03:53 PM
With the status of the orchestral submissions unclear, I thought this would be a good way for people to have their would-be submissions reviewed until we can determine what will happen with them.

For now, post your arrangements here and I will look at them as if it were for submission. This will also help me adjust some guidelines if necessary. If the arrangements will be allowed, then we'll just move these arrangemtns to the proper thread. If not, at least you got some criticism. This won't happen unless you all put something foward.

Music / VG Music for Chamber Group?
June 05, 2011, 12:46:05 PM
I'm part of a chamber ensemble (piano and string quartet) and I'm trying to convice my peers to add some VG Music to our repertoire. For the most part they have no objections, as long as the music isn't "poppy". What I'd like to ask you is:

What VG Music would you suggest for a chamber group?

Keep in mind, all I have to work with is a piano, two violins, viola, and a cello. I'm open to anything you've got, even the basics.

This was inspired by dahans, who challenged me in a compositional duel.

I've created this to see who would want to test their compositional ability, do not sign up for any thing in this thread.

The idea is simple; it will  be a tournament duel in which two people will write a piece which will be judged by the other members of the tournament.
Your writing has to follow these guidlines:
1) They must be for the same instrument
2) The must be similar in tone (i.e. match a similar theme or idea)
3) Random factor for the judges to determine

Now as the tournament progresses, each round will be more complicated.

I'm not asking for people who compose for a living, but for musicians who want to try something new.
Please suggest your ideas; or if no one is interested then I'll ask for the topic to be closed.

Apollo, Bringer of the Sun
YouTube
MUS

This is a symphonic poem that chronicles the journey Apollo takes as he carries the Sun across the sky, and its effects on the Earth below. Each phase is signaled by the chiming bells, marking the time.

I. Dawn - It opens with the break of twilight, the light flickering across the sky. Apollo's arrival is signaled and the sun begins to rise with an exclamation as the world begins to stir.
II. Morning - The world is alive and moving, the orchestra plays a pastoral theme, with the horns singing out in praise of Apollo.
III. Noon - The Sun takes its place at the top of the sky, and the Earth below feels its brutal heat.
IV. Afternoon - The Sun makes its down from its peak, and the children are outside at play. Marked by the winds and a light nature, the orchestra relates this brief scherzando with a climax as the Apollo begins to make his leave.
V. Sunset - The Sun begins to set, with a reprise of the sunrise, the orchestra majestically bids Apollo a farewell as the light begins to leave the sky.
VI. Night - The Earth lies calm as the people settle in their home for the night. A simple motif acts as a psuedo-lullaby that lulls the Earth into its slumber.
VII. Dusk - The Earth is cast in its darkness, the Night is full, and a final tension is released with the Moon taking its peak.
