Gather all guitarists of NSM! I am rebooting this initiative because (as you all have heard) the site is getting a facelift! So I was thinking if we manage to collect enough guitar sheets by the time that happens, maybe a guitar section of the site could be added as well.

@Dusk: I've rewritten and fixed up your sheet in finale so it's good to go. It's playable too so good job!

So, if you play guitar, please help out! There's a lot of songs to do!

I've been playing classical guitar for around two years, so I might be able to help. The problem I see is that your project is geared toward pop guitarists (tablature, pop chord symbols, etc.). I'd really like to see a game sheet music database with arrangements for classical guitar (PIMA fingerings, left hand numbers, no capos, etc.). I'm pretty decent with aural/written theory, so maybe I could be of help. What did you have in mind?

I see a lot of people on this forum posting their favorite pieces, discussing their favorite composers and techniques, etc. I don't know if it's because I was just never exposed to classical music frequently or what, but I just don't see the big appeal. I understand on a larger level that our modern music theory is derived from those periods, and I have a genuine appreciation for this, but I just can't get into the music itself.

Just an update. I managed to get into the classical guitar program here. Don't ask how because I don't know myself. I'd taken a freshman guitar class, and I knew the guitar program here was falling apart, so maybe they were desperate. Nevertheless, I'm "officially" a music major and get to graduate in a year and a half.

Which I still don't know why it's necessary. If I were a Jazz studies major, of course, but for a general music degree, an audition shouldn't even be required. It's essentially segregating the musical community, to the extent that only those who were fortunate to be born into a wealthier family where weekly lessons were mandatory would get accepted into university level music programs. It's stupid.

Well, I just completed the next couple of theory classes. Aced both. It took a LOT of hard work in aural theory, having to go to tutoring sessions 2-3 times a week to practice solfege, but I did it. However, despite my good grades, I'm still not closer to my goal, in my opinion. I know I don't want to do arts administration. There is room in the classical guitar program since they are still new, and I did take a semester of lessons last year, so that's probably my only shot. I wasted a lot of my summer away since I'm stuck in a home that has family issues and I got diagnosed with something pretty serious, but I think it my work out if I practice hard this last month.

Well, it would have to be the general music B.A. since most universities don't have too much specialization (it's normally general/education/performance). Ideally, I'd want composition. I'd like to learn the technical parts in depth (ranges of instruments, writing on the staff, markings, etc.). The biggest issue I run into when I ask different universities is lack of recognition for a lot of modern music. They stop at like 1930's or so. I'm not sure what type of genre anime music falls under (Japanese orchestral pop?), but that's really what I'd like to specialize in. I can listen to Kenji Yamamoto's Dragonball Z Kai score for hours on end without getting tired. It's magnificent (even though he ripped off some of the samples ).

I want to say there are ways around it, but I've tried everything. The music department chair I should major in arts administration, since half of it consists of music history/theory, but what's the point of that degree? I don't want to head a museum. I'm sorry that I tend to mope on here, guys. I wish I could just take a 2-3 year break from college and take professional piano lessons or something, but I have a scholarship. I posted a while back my frustrations with having to take aural theory class. I managed to pull a 'B' in it, but now I'm in another semester. Do you guys hate how repetitive college is too? Working your butt off for finals and doing well, only to have another semester to go? It just seems like it'll never end.

And on top of that, I found out that I can't even be a music major, despite my great grades in theory classes, since the auditions are both required and competitive. They said most people entering the program have played their instrument for 10 years.     Now I have to figure out if it's worth transferring to a college where you do not need to audition, or if I should stay here and change majors, effectively killing my dream. Oh, and I just got diagnosed with freaking Asperger's Syndrome. Wish I had known that growing up.

I'm not too pleased with the current message system. It gets the job done, but it basically just lists all your messages with no type of organization. Maybe I missed something though.

When is the actual contest? I might be interested.

Any more suggestions, guys? Realistic sounds + 88 keys + USB is what I need. I have  Casio Privia PX-200 right now, but the keys are way too heavy.

Casio keys are generally way too heavy and the sound is subpar. I assumed Yamaha is similar since it's a budget brand. The Korg SP170 doesn't have USB.

I'm looking for a sub-$600 keyboard that will be good for inputting notes on the computer, as well as serve as a good practice keyboard. I do not want a Casio or Yamaha. The Roland Juno Di seems to be a great option, but I'd like to see what else is out there. Thanks.

Casio is a joke. I invested like $500 into my Privia PX-200, and while it has a decent sound, the keys are extremely hard to push down and part of the speaker broke off. If I get another, it'll be a Roland or Korg.
