As of tomorrow, Xenoblade X will have been released 6 years ago in Japan. To honor the game’s release, So nah, so fern is my choice of song for the week. It is an emotional theme used to symbolize Lao’s character arc. Despite the lyrics being in German, it was sung by Japanese vocalist Mika Kobayashi.

Week 3! Fun fact: This is the first ending theme with vocals to appear in a video game made by Square (yes, that includes Final Fantasy!)

Week 4! Fun fact: Xenoblade Chronicles X was first revealed in January 2013. Project X was the codename given to it by Monolith Soft and Nintendo. Around the same time, the late Satoru Iwata (who was the president of Nintendo), claimed that it was a new IP separate from Xenoblade Chronicles. The game was announced as a Xenoblade Chronicles game in June 2014.

Week 5: Yasunori Mitsuda (music director and composer of Xenoblade Chronicles 2) initially declined Tetsuya Takahashi’s (executive director of the Xenoblade Chronicles series) request for him to compose music for the project. Mitsuda rejected the offer multiple times before finally giving in. This soundtrack is the largest project Mitsuda has ever handled in his long and impressive music career.
