Well capitalism can and often does contribute greatly to climate change. The oil and gas industry is a prime example of this.

I put global warming more under the "people who don't arrogantly ignore scientists" rather than "extremist liberals." It has nothing to do with politics, conservatives just make it political because it's easy to refute politics by saying stupid stuff.

To be fair, global warming is a real thing that exists and yes, if you project the trends as they are right now, things don't look good. But the Earth has historically gone through both warming and cooling periods in its climate, and what we're seeing right now isn't that much out of the ordinary and will eventually go the other direction, provided we don't severely increase pollutant outputs to beyond Industrial-era levels. Should we still work on reducing pollutants? Absolutely. Is the world on the verge of falling apart because of said pollutants? Absolutely not.

See when you put it this way you rub people the wrong way, because the term "global warming" is commonly seen as "excessive and eventually fatal or damning global warming due to human pollution" instead of the Earth's heating/cooling cycles

Dudeman

Which is why I elaborated, although you're right, I could have been clearer about that from the start.

Technically it's called "climate change" nowadays so you get a B-

The global warming must stop, really. Possibly one the problems I hate the most, because it would just make everything literally worse. One thing I particularly dislike is the whether changes it will cause, will there even be snow on winter if it isen't halted!? Y, I know there are more severe problems it causes, like islands disappear under ocean leves, people needing to evacuate; but I'm just thinking how sad it would be with a winter without snow, and the summers would probably be devastatingly hot too. :(
Also lots of diseases would spread as well with the increased temperature.

Oi, what's wrong with a snowless winter? Ain't nothing wrong with that!

One of the things that Climate Change will do is what's known as shifting boundaries. So at the moment the world has it's climatic systems and has general areas which have their distinct weather patterns. What CC will do is it will change these boundaries. So where I live will get hotter and drier, whereas Germany will get lots more rain and France will get hotter and drier as well. So this may not necessarily mean that you will have snowless winters, but you might have wetter summers or windy winters etc.

Quote from: Pianist Da Sootopolis on February 10, 2016, 03:26:22 PMSo, in social studies, we're talking about the differences between capitalism, socialism, and communism, and apparently everyone associates socialism with communism and communism w/ authoritarianism..

true socialism is "baby" communism, or what we call communism today.  As long as there's a government presence, it's not actual communism.  Associating those 3 forms of government together isn't a problem, because they are related to each other, at least in practice if not in theory

1 year or so and that reference is gone, and some new references has popped up.

Yes, from Undertale's sequel. IT WILL HAPPEN!!!
When given the choice between adulting and music, choose music every time.

Dudeman

I wouldn't count on it. Undertale's story is so self-contained that the best we can hope for is a short prequel, and not much else.
