Piano skill level = How good you are at piano

Playing emotionally is included in the skill level (aka. how good you are at piano)

SlowPokemon

I see skill level as the difficulty of the pieces you play. You can be a first year student and still be really good at piano. But that's just my opinion you know.

Fuck logic, that shit is boring, lame and does not always support my opinions.

An example of a song that you need ONLY skill level for:

An example of a song that you need both skill and a severe amount of emotion to make it sound good:

PIANOPLAYER got Skill
PIANOPLAYER used Emotion
PIANOPLAYER level'd up

skill = skill
skill + emotion = more skill

But keep your opinion ;)

Now I understand your logic, okay.

The difficulty of pieces you play only has part to do with skill level.  Skill level also has to do with hand frame and technique in general (clarity, strength, consistency, evenness, etc).  The other part of how well you play piano is how well you bring out the melody, naturally knowing what kind of feeling goes with which note, and counterpoints.  The "other part" is generally referred to as emotion.  Emotion is more important than skill level, but only if your skill level is good enough for the piece you're playing.  A person with good emotion but with a skill level surpassed by most is Richard Clayderman.  Look him up on Youtube.

Just adding a bit.

A defined emotion however is set by the composer, of course.

Yes, thus the crescendos and decrescendos and ritards and accelerandos and agitatos.  Chopin never played a piece the same way twice, so there's many ways a piece can be played with the "correct" emotion.  But you still gotta listen to the composer.

Just to expand on the Skill vs Emotion:

I personally believe skill is overall emotion, technique, and ability to read.
Lang Lang I believe is a good example of such.
You can tell in every single video he's in.

And for the subject of the thread:
