Welcome! Thanks for signing up.

Strangely enough, this question was just answered two threads down in this very subforum.
It's discussed about halfway down the first page. As you can see I'm not much of an expert on the subject but everyone else around here will surely help if you're still not sure or have any other questions about the forums.
Guitar and video games.

I think I must be going blind... Sorry!  :( I'll look at it right now.

(Alas, the photo I selected does not seem to be working...)

Find what picture what you want on Google Images,

Right click (or Cmd click if you're using a mac -- or two fingers on MB Pros) on the picture and select "copy image location"

Then go to Profile > Forum Profile information and select "I have my own pic" and paste into the bar above the bar with "browse" next to it

Too late, I just sent a really awesome tutorial via private message.
...Or maybe I was too late.
Meh, might as well post it here too, for future reference.

If you haven't figured out how to get your avatar yet, go to Forum Profile Information.

To get your avatar from the internet, just copy the url of the image ending in .jpg, .png, .gif, etc.
For example, I want this to be my avatar:
http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss151/Arcticwaters/TurtwigDrums.gif

Then paste the url into the bar labeled "I have my own pic."

After that, make sure to select "Change Profile" to save your changes.

The result is my avatar to the left.

You also have to option of uploading your avatar from your computer, by selecting "I will upload my own picture" and "Browse".

And the result is...

Yay!  ;D

But now I have another question:

How do you get a moving picture? From Youtube? Alas, I'm in the dark as to forums and such...

Jub3r7

The process listed above works for both a moving picture and a still one.

The first picture I found on a google search for "turtwig drums" was animated.
The google search doesn't show the animations; you have to go to the image's page to see if it has an animation at all.

Nope, it's just a .gif image.
