I started designing some Mega Evolutions because their sprites are easier to make so I could practice altering existing Pokemon sprites.

Results so far:
Beedrill

Stats before:
HP: 65
Atk: 80
Def: 40
Sp. Atk: 45
Sp. Def: 80
Speed: 75

Stats after:
HP: 65
Atk: 120 (+40)
Def: 60 (+20)
Sp. Atk: 25 (-20)
Sp. Def: 110 (+30)
Speed: 105 (+30)

When fighting against Flying, Fire, or Psychic types, it gets its stats boosted further.

Mega Offense/Support:
Item: Beedrillite
Ability: Berserk
Nature: Adamant/Jolly

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

Moves:
~ Rampage
~ X-Scissor/U-turn
~ Tailwind/Slide-by Slash
~ Swords Dance

Sandslash

Stats before:
HP: 75
Atk: 100
Def: 110

Sandslash is now essentially Excadrill, but with new moves to work with, and a slightly higher speed, allowing it to still be usable in weather other than sandstorm.

Mega Sand Rush Sweeper:
Item: Sandslashnite
Ability: Sand Rush
Nature: Adamant/Jolly

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

Moves:
~ Steel Crash
~ Stone Edge/Rock Claw
~ Earthquake
~ Swords Dance/Rapid Spin/X-Scissor

Crobat now outspeeds everything (non-scarfed) except Ninjask and Deoxys-Speed. A change of typing to Dark/Flying allow it protection from Psychic-type attacks, and since there's no Fairy type in this "generation," it only has three weaknesses. A boost in attack give it more of an offensive presence. With its new dark typing, Crobat can capitalize on Crunch (which it now gets instead of merely Bite); in addition, it gets a new Dark-type equivalent of Brick Break, allowing it to break screens without being affected by them at all (Light Break having 100 BP if both Light Screen and Reflect are up).

Mega Screen Breaker:

Quagsire changes to become more like a bulkier Sableye, having access to Toxic and Recover, as well as improving its offensive capabilities- or, it could use Substitute to stall after poisoning a target. Although Quagsire has lost the use of Unaware, it can now use Haze with priority.

Mega Prankster:
Item: Quagsirenite
Ability: Prankster
Nature: Impish/Careful

EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD

Moves:

~ Toxic/Encore
~ Substitute/Haze

Deoxys has several unique qualities as a Mega. Its new ability, DNA Type, allows it to change forms if it is in risk of being OHKO'd. In its attack type (Type-A), it has the offensive stats of Deoxys-A, yet higher defenses. In its defense type (Type-D), it has both higher defenses, offenses, and speed than its defense form. Type-D is incredibly bulky, being able to take hits rather safely from Darkrai, Mewtwo, Gengar, and CHOICE SCARF KYOGRE, while having a bit more HP left over than regular Deoxys-D.

Mega Mixed Attacker:
Item: Deonite
Ability: DNA Type
Nature: Rash/Naive

EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Moves:
~ Psycho Boost
~ Dark Pulse/Ice Beam/Knock Off

Golurk

Stats before:
HP: 89
Atk: 124
Def: 80

Stats after:
HP: 89
Atk: 164 (+40)
Def: 110 (+30)
Sp. Atk: 65 (+10)
Sp. Def: 90 (+10)
Speed: 65 (+10)

With a type change, Golurk loses its weaknesses to Water, Grass, and Ice in exchange for a weakness to Fire. It also loses its immunity to Electric type in exchange for an immunity to Ground and Poison. With its typing and ability giving it more resistances, less weaknesses, and more immunities, a slight augment to its defenses goes a long way. Although it's unable to use Dynamic Punch efficiently (or any of its Iron Fist-boosted moves), it gains a STAB 120 base power Steel-type move to use (albeit one with recoil), and can use Phantom Punch, allowing it to hit through Protect and Detect.

Mega Golem:
Item: Golurknite
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Adamant

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def

Moves:
