Finale Monopolizes the Sound Card
« on: December 31, 2013, 08:43:45 AM »

First time using Finale 2012 since purchasing it, and unlike 2011, I can't play mp3s on other sound programs while Finale is open. I get messages like this on Audacity, for example:

I'm running Finale 2012 through Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite, if that affects anything.

Really? I actually have those exact same specs and it works fine for me. I don't really know what to say.

Don't remember how to get to this setting in Finale, but my guess is that you're using different audio drivers for Finale and Audacity. Make sure you haven't mistakenly changed a setting in Finale or Audacity. Not sure what drivers Toshiba uses, but mine is DirectSound, and my laptop is Realtek. Just check the matching drivers :P
