*NEW* Arrangements:

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky: Bandit Radio
MUS / MID / PDF / Original

Currently working on:
Kirby's Epic Yarn - Snowy Fields, Rainbow Falls
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Jake Marshall's Theme
Kirby: Squeak Squad – Stage Music 5

This is my thread for my arrangements. A lot of them so far are arrangements from the Hamtaro series of video games. The entire Ham-Hams Unite soundtrack, for instance, can be found below.

All sheets on site will have their links point directly to the NSM download links of the accordant arrangement.

Note: In the (unlikely) event that I ever vanish from the site without an explanation from myself or Dude (who I would likely text if I didn't want to post on NSM), I would like all my arrangements here that are not already on site to go up on site. Some of them may not be fit for the site yet in the current state, in which case, whatever adjustments need to be made are okay to make.
And if this happens, please take up the task of arranging the rest of the Hamtaro soundtracks in my stead. After all, that's my one and only goal here, and if I can't complete it I want my legacy to remain in the form of people doing it in my stead. :p

I can definitely see a theme going on here! Most people here on NSM have their pet franchise, so you fit right in. Unfortunately, I never really got into the Hamtoro boat :/  (but I'm at least aware of what it is!)

It's great seeing you are both competent in both music theory and piano technique. That makes my job a lot easier (if you ever submit these to the site). Remember to spell your rhythms correctly though -- in "Sunny Peak", the accompaniment features a 3+3+2 rhythm that should be notated as dotted quarter, eighth-tied-quarter, quarter. The reason for this is to show beat 3 clearly in order to account for the syncopated rhythms.

Great thread!

Hey, thanks for the kind words!

Quote from: Bespinben on June 30, 2015, 06:43:28 PMI can definitely see a theme going on here! Most people here on NSM have their pet franchise, so you fit right in. Unfortunately, I never really got into the Hamtoro boat :/  (but I'm at least aware of what it is!)

It's funny because Hamtaro isn't my favorite franchise, even - that honor goes to Pokémon (especially Mystery Dungeon) and Kirby. But there's unfortunately a lack of stuff related to the Hamtaro video games on the internet - Let's Plays on Youtube are the most common thing, and then there's a few OST videos. Certainly no sheet music. So when one day I had the sudden urge to learn the Hamour theme, I was sadly disappointed to see that nobody had touched the game musically apart from a couple remixes of Spat's theme, so I set out to create my own music... and on-and-off inspirations since then have led to the rest of the sheets I've posted.

QuoteIt's great seeing you are both competent in both music theory and piano technique. That makes my job a lot easier (if you ever submit these to the site).

I'm a music major planning to go to grad school for music theory, and my primary instruments are piano and trumpet, so I would hope I've learned something from the past three years of school :p

QuoteRemember to spell your rhythms correctly though -- in "Sunny Peak", the accompaniment features a 3+3+2 rhythm that should be notated as dotted quarter, eighth-tied-quarter, quarter. The reason for this is to show beat 3 clearly in order to account for the syncopated rhythms.

I'm pretty sure you meant the Ham-Hams Unite Credits Theme/"Ham-Hams", not Sunny Peak, since Sunny Peak's accompaniment is a pretty standard 6/8 quarter-eighth thing. But you're completely correct that a 3+3+2 pattern should be written as dotted quarter, eighth-tied-quarter, quarter, and I'd somehow missed it. Good catch!

mariolegofan: I suppose if I keep up this trend (which is very likely, since as I've said there's just no sheet music for the Hamtaro games anywhere) then I can get added to that list at some point, heh. It probably also helps that the music from Hamtaro is just ingrained in my head at this point since those games were my childhood games and I've played-and-replayed them more times than I care to count.

Latios212

Hamtaro... brings back a good amount of childhood memories (I even have a couple of plushies) :J Nice stuff!

Latios212: Thanks! Hamtaro games were the first video games I ever owned so they have a very special place in my heart. (It helps that they're actually really solid games despite being, y'know, Hamtaro games lol)

Bespinben: I'm the one who left the comment on your Youtube video for the Friend Area - Swamp theme asking if it was G# minor or C# Dorian lmao I love Mystery Dungeon and its music. (I started my own arrangement of Spacial Rift before realizing you had a completed one actually)

Y-Y-You're Genericusernamething!? *Instant sub*

(Hopefully my reply made sense? ^.^")
Spoiler
Just a standard G# minor key. The C# chord at the end constitutes the secondary dominant of the relative major key of B. The expected progression for this would be C# > F# > G#m (that is, going from the dominant of the dominant to the primary dominant, and then that to the submediant because of the minor [aeolian] mode). However, that bridge is skipped in the repeat, resulting in that nonfunctional cadence (C# > G#m), which works very well for endlessly looping video game music like this.
[close]

And by all means, feel free to finish that PMD2 Spacial Rifts arrangement. I have very little confidence in my 2011-2012 era arrangements.

Altissimo

Wow I was not expecting you to actually remember that comment lmao I am amused and flattered

It took a few reads, but your reply made sense, yes. I suppose the fact that it lacks the leading tone that makes the tonic in other modes so recognizable is what confused me - I couldn't actually tell if G# was supposed to function as a dominant or a tonic, and the C# major chord at the end certainly didn't make that any clearer. (Also medieval music liked the Dorian mode and so it was plausible in my mind that it had been written with that in mind.)

I've never actually finished an MD2 arrangement before (because most of the time I'd just puzzle out some single melody lines for the sake of playing them on the trumpet). MD2 music is a little more involved than the Hamtaro stuff I'm used to... but I'll see if I can't get anything done with Spacial Rift.

DonValentino

Hey, welcome to NSM! It's always great to have new arrangers around here. :D

Wow, nice stuff you got there! Ham-Ham Heartbreak was one of my favorite games ever when I was a kid, I replayed it sooo many times! So I really appreciate these arrangements xD

I did Spat's Theme myself too long ago, but mine lacks the intro (couldn't find it anywhere back then). I've been also thinking in doing "Hamour", such a beautiful song! You did a great job with it, as well as with Sunny Peak. However, I'd gladly correct formatting issues and everything for you myself if you'd like, these songs defeinitely deserve it!

Oh yeah, and just seen your post about the SM64 credits theme, but don't worry too much about the one on site, it needs a replacement anyway, so I humbly recommend you to try my version instead. :)

https://db.tt/HmX7IjyE

Great job, keep it up! (your avatar is very cute btw xD)

Altissimo

Hey, thanks for the nice words! (My avatar is a drawing of me a friend on another forum did as part of a comic she was writing about forum users, btw :p)

I don't actually mind doing all the formatting for the sheets myself - though thank you very much for offering! - I just wanted to stick them here while I was in the process of cleaning them up so I could get some feedback and make the necessary edits at the same time as I was working on the formatting myself, since I imagine it'll save me a little bit of trouble when I get to the actual submission-and-feedback stage if I get some comments taken care of ahead of time. Though I may need your assistance anyway with stuff like measure numbers, since I have a feeling Notepad isn't going to be so kind about that, if what I've read from other users is any indication. :p I'll probably try to do most of the formatting myself over the next day or so, but I'll let you know if I need any assistance! Thank you!

Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite! - "I'm Your Ham"

It's a very nice avatar indeed! Well, back to business... Here's the fixed version of "I'm Your Ham". Yes, all yours! I'll write all the corrections I made below:

~Formatting issues~

- Updated the general formatting and layout, you will find it more appealing to the sight xD

- Fixed the url problem, now it shows correctly in both the mus and the pdf.

~Technical issues~ (Here comes ze real stuff)

- Well first of all, the dynamics. Actually all those fluctuations of the LH can be removed and changed by crescendos and decrescendos suiting the melody, no need to have mf, then p, then f, then mf again, it's madness! I also made a little tweak myself on m. 17 with a mp to add a little contrast, which is very grateful being all the song in a forte-ish level, also in the end and certain passages such as the end with a ff, for an epic ending!

- Second, articulations. You had this one pretty well done, but I added more articulations to enrich the sheet a lot more.

- The most "blatant" issue (well, it's nothing terrible or apocalyptic, I just mean to the ear) is the lack of the second layer, which I added, and moved the melody one octave higher to match the original.

- You had some notes wrong in certain places, like in m. 18 for example, where you missed the F#.

- And last but not least, got rid of the scales of m. 13 onwards, not only it's unplayable, but like this you can hear clearly the nice answer-response texture of that passage.

So that's that. Oh yeah, you're working with MuseScore right? Well I highly recommend getting Finale Notepad 2012, it's free and it will make things a lot easier to fix and stuff.

Next I'll be working on Hamour, and I will not only be giving an overhaul to your arrangement, but I'll also be making a little thingy myself with the song too hehe...

Altissimo

The link doesn't work though :p but thank you so much!
Re: the scales in m. 13: They are the last thing I added to the piece and I knew they weren't playable but did it for the sake of "completion". I guess that was unnecessary haha

I do actually have Notepad, but I'm just a lot more used to using Musescore so I'm doing the arrangements there and then porting them to Notepad to create the .mus and .mid files.

Yeah xD
Oh it's not? How odd... I'll try again.

Edit: Ok it's fixed now, I think I copied it wrong, sorry about that. Try again please :J

Altissimo

Yes yes I like it. I'm pretty bad at figuring out harmonies so I appreciate the addition of harmonies to the melody line quite a bit. Can't wait to see what you do with Hamour! (I have a version of it with articulations and dynamics I finished last night if you want to use that as a basis instead of the one I posted to the thread)
