Quote from: Deku Trombonist on August 10, 2017, 05:58:55 AMGoing from counting against the grain in bar 24, and then counting with the grain in bar 25 (the first beat) for no other reason than 'let's keep counting crotchets' is completely counter intuitive and does not make reading easier. Especially when it's the same rhythmic figure.

This right here. The man speaks the truth. That figure in it's entirety (in 24-25) needs to be displayed the same way. Like Deku said, like this:

This keeps the figure the same all the way through. The argument about displaying it differently then it previously was can be written of as it setting up the next section. At 29 this is how the figure appears anyway, and it really needs to look that way there.

I'm inclined to agree with Deku and Olimar here. If m25 wasn't there, then I could potentially see m24 being split into three beats since it comes before and after a 4/4 measure. However, I can't hear m25 in any division other than 3+2+2 (and definitely not in 2+2+3), in which case m24 should be written as 6/8 to have the eighth-sixteenth-eighth-sixteenth rhythm consistently fall within the beats.

Quote from: Latios212 on August 09, 2017, 06:38:13 PMThe reason I put it in 3/4 is because the bass rhythm there mimics the bass rhythm from m. 12-15 and 28-29 exactly.

It's more important that it be consistent with the measure that comes right after it rather than those measures.

Huh, that's just how I heard it. You all make very valid points so I'll concede.
