Xenoblade 2 Arrrangements by Starsoarer
« on: April 05, 2018, 02:31:07 AM »

I have a couple of Xenoblade 2 arrangements that I wanted to share. These are from my account on Musescore.com (https://musescore.com/starsoarer), though the audio comes from Youtube. I'm new to Finale so I would appreciate any help I can get getting these to a submittable state for this site.

Mor Ardain ~ Roaming the Wastes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FknxuajutMQ

Greatmaw Rapids: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNVilcHcDNw

Link to their PDF's here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ibzbGs5wp9hu9iM38TlFKAhZ2Q8LcXBH?usp=sharing

Thanks in advance.

Hey, and welcome! I'm a massive Xenoblade fan, so more xenoblade sheets are always welcome.
First, a few things about finale: You'll need to export xml files from musescore. Then I went looking for template files and realized we have this wonderful compilation thread:

Look through this and you should find what you need to get you started.

As for the arrangements, they seem pretty solid at first glance. The only good complaint against the notes are that mor ardain gets a little boring in the bassline at places. I think static had a half finished arrangement, if you want to shoot him a PM or something.

However, I have a few complaints with the notation. First of all, the note beaming is really off. The goal should be to show the beats of the song clearly. Take measure 1 for example. You have :

This is proper notation:

Notice how beat 2 and 4 are shown. It's not wrong to have notes go over them, but you should always be mindful. Try to fix up the rest of the songs on your own.

It may also be helpful to note--according to the soundtrack rip (here), Greatmaw Rapids' official title is "Womb Center".  The more you know.

Correct note beaming is the bane of Musescore. I'll take that into account though once I can get it into Finale, so thank you!

Hi Starsoarer! Nice to see you on here :D

The best thing about NSM is that you can ask for advice from other arrangers on here. Maelstrom so happens to be the main Xenoblade arranger, and he’s a pretty cool guy haha

Like you, I’m a bit of a newbie here, but I’m super anxious to see what you’ll come up with next!
