A little birdie told me I didn't have to delete the submission to edit it, oops.
My intro is totally wrong, but that's best I could get it to sound with the drums in the way and all.

Looks fine and sounds fine.

My only thing is I would move a measure from the first system to the second one. It looks a little cluttered up there.

Still? Ok.

Please tell me about my new friend. How do I use him? Or does Nopepad not like him and therefore exiled him?
I'm stuck in the metaphor, but you get the idea.

A couple more comments from me:

- this sheet could benefit from staccatos
- slurs would also be nice where appropriate (but not necessary)
- your mf is intersecting with your notes. Keep it in the middle vertically, but move it horizontally to the left of the notes
- if you manage to move the measure and the notes still seem a little packed in, try seeing if you can change the page size. If not, let us know

I can't do anything of these things. I'll add an inquiry on the Finale Format topic if others agree (but the mf thing for sure)

I'm not an expert, but some notes are held longer.

Again, I'm terrible at this, but isn't this a piano? I've never heard of pianos having slurs.

I understand the reasoning before, but now there's an odd number of measures. But, I don't know about this kind of stuff, so, ok.

^This all. Positive. It can be read with a negative light, but please don't. You seriously are better at this, no joke. Not passive-aggressive or defensive. Here, I'll put a smiley face,  :) .

Literally no one is thinking that, which is why I went ahead and did all that for you and more.

Don't get used to this because you need to learn to use your program. Even if it is Nopepad.

Well, I mean, thank you, but I was gonna put it on the Finale Edits post anyway.

Ok, I understand something like the tempo because I was able to do it all along with TheGavstr3's (I hope I spelled that right) post. But I'm almost positive Nopepad can't do the things you just did. Or are you trying to tell me you used Notepad for that? In that case, I definitely need to learn Notepad.

I'd be very surprised if you can't do staccatos and slurs in notepad.  But then again I haven't used it in ages.

I just went on my computer, and there aren't staccatos, but there are slurs.

And was the intro actually ok?

The intro in terms of tones not entirely correct, but since this was your first sheet(?) I didn't want to go to hard on your first criticisms. Youtube has the ability to slow down their audio and video for you to pick some of those notes out.

I would be very surprised and almost disappointed if you couldn't use staccatos in notepad. Google is your friend if you're having trouble with something.

Yeah, ok... I used Google. You're right. I need to learn Nopepad.

Fix the first measure. Slow down the track and pick out each tone and rhythm by ear using whatever tools you have.

I don't think it's entirely incorrect, but it is missing something.

It's worth keeping in mind that, from what I can tell, there's actually an eighth rest in the first measure before any notes play. If you're assuming that the first note in the intro lands on beat 1 of m1, that's already going to mess you up.

Ok, ok. I'll take that in mind.

Edit: Still working on the first bar.

I'll wait until you get that first bar done again to say anything about that.  At the moment the only things I noticed are:
-The mf is colliding with notes in the first bar.  Make sure that when you redo that bar you don't have the collision.
-I'd actually suggest a tenuto on the crotchet in bars in 3 and 7 just to make it stand out that extra bit.

Post by: ShyYoshiGuy on September 18, 2018, 10:11:43 AM
Ok, I'll fix the mf when I fix the first bar. Second, I'm going to look up what a tenuto and a crochet are. So, yeah, I'll probably agree with that.

Post by: Libera on September 18, 2018, 10:27:14 AM
Sorry a crotchet is what you'd call a quarter-note and a tenuto is just like the opposite of a staccato.  But looking up things is always good!

Like quaver and legato?
Title: Re: [GB] Game & Watch Gallery - "Game Select" by ShyYoshiGuy
Post by: Libera on September 18, 2018, 11:23:12 AM
A quaver is what you'd call an eighth-note and legato means something similar to slurred.  If you're still confused send me a message on discord.  (You'll have to send me a friend request first).

Aka, the crotchet.

Aka, very lightly articulated.

Just about to post the new version. The first bar is at least somewhat closer (hopefully). And I'll fix the formatting issues with the rest of the sheet once the first bar is correct.

Edit: The new files are now there.

Things will go much faster if you fix everything that you can when you're available to and it also makes things much easier for updaters.  In other words, if you could address everything that's been brought up so far, that would be great.

If you could fix/address all of the other stuff as well, we're probably in business here.

I guess this also counts as a bump.

I'm not about to watch this get accepted in its current form, so here's what I found:

- Libera is right; first measure notes are wrong
- there are some very clear staccatos in the LH (slurs, too)
- slurs could be added to m. 5 & 9 to indicate note connection not really heard in m. 2 - 4 & m. 6 - 8
- I agree with putting tenutos on the quarter notes
- the repeats aren't working with the playback (but I understand that you're a "NopePad" user, so that's perfectly alright)
- this, while also probably a NotePad issue, would look much better if the systems were spread out over 3 systems (w/ 3 measures each)
- some general formatting & spacing can be adjusted here (i.e. the copyright info is a bit too far down, composer/arranger info is a bit too close to the song title)
- I don't normally suggest this, but the piano soundfont being used right now could be a little brighter (though that's not your fault, either)

We know you haven't done a lot of arranging yet, so I'm going to help you improve and learn. Just remember that we can't do everything for you for each of your submissions. That's all I have.

Ok, I updated the files. But, whoa, whoa, it's not ready! I couldn't figure out how to make a .musx. I looked through all the settings, but idk, maybe it's somewhere. I also don't understand the purpose of such files but I guess that's a different issue. The .musx is still HTTP! I guess I could just remove the .musx, idk.

Yea, just remove it. It's not required; it just makes it easier for people with full Finale to check sheets.

There's actually a LH harmony that appears throughout the song. You probably didn't notice it because it's obscured by the percusion. I confirmed its existence by analyzing the spectrum, so I can say with confidence it is here. Here's what the sheet looks like with all the harmonies written in:
