I noticed that some people on this forum are starting to make confessions. Welp, here you can let it all out! And absolutely no judging. We want NSM members to feel comfortable in this thread.
My confessions:
I purposefully act dumb to my math teacher sometimes to make his job harder.
I hate babies and toddlers.
I've sort of been hiding this for a really long time, guys.
But I'm not afraid to tell you anymore.
The truth is...

MADE MY FREAKING DAY SARIABALL
This is rather obvious, but I would prefer to be more of a recluse than a "social butterfly."
I've never had a best friend or best friends. I've had friends, loads, but never a best.
I also tend to stick in with girls better than with guys and I don't like it. I'm also self cautious of what others think of me so I'm very quiet and don't try make friends with anyone.
I've become a little close to a couple of guys but at lunch they never wait on me, they just go and if I catch up with them they're okay with that (at least I think). They tend to annoy a lot in a jokey way or so so embarrisingly put me in some sort of headlock where everyone can see my face going purple and helpelessly trying to get out.. But whatever it's a joke?
I'm always coming up with new reasons as to why I don't have a best friend or noone I can just casually have an amazing close chat to. Some of the reasons are dumb but all add up in the end:
I'm about a foot smaller than everyone
I'm at least 2 stone lighter than everyone
I have a locker
I'm quiet
I went to a big primairy school (school before high school or whatever you call it)
My name's last on the register
Hardly anyone in my classes are any decent
I live in an area with noone my age near
I live close to school
I have a big brother and Little brother?
I don't have a clue, I'm not geeky, I don't have big oozing spots on the end of my nose, I don't have greasy hair, I'm not smelly, I'm not a loner.
I don't know.
I forget what this is even about and I forget if this is even in the right topic anymore but yeh, I confess I can't make friends and I have no close friends. Same goes on internet too, no friends here on nsm either.
I don't want children. And whenever I tell this to my family, they always tell me I'll change my mind.
Excuse you. My body, my decisions. I don't want a screaming baby because I'm ~supposed to have one~ since I'm a girl.
I tried saying that I didn't have any interest in children
and then Ruto was like "lol you will change your mind"
D:
I want children. I just don't know if it's worth getting married @_@
actually idk about either. The situation would have to be right.

I honestly don't get this..... I like you! I'm sure a lot of other people do too!
So idk everyone probably already knows this but apparently Catholics are required by the church to have kids? Like even if both husband and wife don't want to have children, they have to have at least one (unless they have reasons like infertility or financial situations).
Can someone confirm/refute this?
that can't be true. I've been Catholic all my life and I've never heard that :P
I really hope that's not true... the only person who should decide things about your body is you.
That was a hard and fast rule a long, long time ago. Now the Church just wants two people to be married before conceiving children, I've haven't read any current doctrines that out right states "A Married couple must have Children."

Thats definitely not true (at least anymore). That would just lead to alot of unwanted babies, and besides, the Church doesnt have that kind of power. What are they going to do, ridicule you and "not let you into heaven" because you couldn't finace a child?
That can't be true because Priests can't marry...?
Yeah, no.
Priests and other members of Holy Orders take on vows of celibacy when they take on the Orders, among other things.
So we now have a confession thread....
Well, I've got nothing. I'm perfect. I have no confessions to make. What up? :P

Nah, not really. It's part of the perfect Catholic life or relationship or guide or whatever but it's what the church wishes upon all catholics but really, it's no big deal.
I'm going to be the non-conformist here.
I really want to get married and have kids. Like, seriously. If there's one thing I want in life, it's to be a mother.

It seems as if more people are thinking that way (lavishness, irresponsibility, and fears of overpopulation, perhaps??).
I'm not reprimanding you specifically, just pointing out a (rather scary for the far future generations, actually) "trend."
No.
Isn't the trend of world population supposed to flip by 2050 or something? Like have more people dying than being born? If so, then the fact that so many people don't want babies could be a sign of the worlds De-population D:

Anyone who hates kids obviously never was one.
Why is disliking children a bad thing? It doesn't make you a bad person. It's an opinion others are entitled to have. Some people want children, others don't. That's all there is to this "debate".

People can dislike kids. That's fine. The problem is when those people become so disenchanted with kids that they think they can behave like adults do. I'm like "dude, he's 5. give him a break."
Ex/ kid is crying on a plane during take-off. This guy was yelling at the parent to shut him up. The poor kid's ears were popping and it hurt! I don't blame him for crying. Just seems like some of those child-haters have no patience sometimes. You were like that one time dude. Calm yourself and let it happen.
There's a difference between not wanting children and not liking children though...

There was this poem we read in class written by a college professor who was told by a student that when he was little, he trampled a bunch of pigeons to death, not knowing what death was.
The person became a vegetarian later. The child wasn't evil; he was innocent, he was innocent in his ignorance, but his ignorance was to produce what might be considered evil.
That's kind of sad :l

Is that not irresponsibility in itself (there's more than one type of irresponsibility, obviously, though that does not concern the point I was talking about; "irresponsible non-parents vs. irresponsible parents" is what you're trying to compare): doing a poor job raising your children, dooming them to be content with mediocrity?

Hey, don't argue with me about parenting! Obviously no parent is going to admit they're lousy parents and they're not going to think their kids are mediocre no matter what they do (ever read Matilda?). But I know that kids aren't just about cuteness and tricks (the 85%) so I'd get them into all sorts of things like math, science, piano, violin, philosophy, and give them a head start in what I think is a more meaningful life.

Well. Okay.
So I had these two best friends during middle school and high school. Close as can be. 8 year friendship. Always said we'd be friends forever, etc... yet they just don't seem to contact me any more. One does more than the other, but it's always me saying "hey, we should hang out" and she's like "yeah we should!" but it never happens. No texts. Really never invited to anything, either... and the other one just hasn't talked to me in ages. All that matters is her boyfriend.
They drink. Have lots of boyfriends. Do things with said boyfriends. One smoked. I don't do any of this, and I'm this little ~innocent~ thing in their eyes most likely and it's like??? Our friendship shouldn't be judged by actions? I don't judge their lifestyles, but I don't want mine being judged either. So what if I don't do those things? I don't care. I don't want that defining a friendship.
Just. Argh. I wish they'd actually care more? I really don't want to have friendships fade away, but... ughhhh....

Here's what it seems like to me:
You want to be friends with them, regardless of their lifestyles, but they don't want to be friends with you, because you don't do many of the things they do (e.g. generally act careless :P). They shouldn't judge you based on that, but they don't care about what "should" be done, it appears.
Either that, or, they are too preoccupied with their current "friends"... which is almost as bad...
I think they still want to be friendly with me, but are poor in showing it...? I don't know anymore.
Well if they're into all this stuff that you're not about, maybe its time to find some new friends whose interests are more in line with your own. Though I shouldn't be one to talk, since I'm absolutely terrible at making new friends. but still....
You are going to drift away from people during your life, your friends have found interests that don't match your own. This isn't bad, and you shouldn't force you or them to do things that would make either of you uncomfortable.

You could say this for any demographic and still be just as correct. Overall, however, any statement of such a category will be nothing but a very, very broad generalization (and based more on opinions than anything else).
No, teenage boys definitely win the award for "Most Disgusting Demographic".
Source: Was a teenage boy
Naw guys, the most disgusting demographic is pre-teen (middle school) girls.
I swear pre-teens girls are a single collective hive mind.
Would the queen be justin beiber
Confessions:
-I'm not a fan of babies/toddlers
-I don't get along with other girls very well (so bitchy!)
-The only two people I've ever hated: Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber
-Sometimes when I'm driving, I specifically look for reasons to honk at people
-I'm not comfortable wearing pajama pants in public and have never done it
Confession time:
Once, when I was fishing near a bridge (forced family activity) I accidently cast my line onto the road right as a car was driving past. The line got tangled around the axle and had to be cut off. The hook was never found......
I was 17 . -_-
I never had time dilation powers in the past, I've only received them as of recent events.
But that's only because of time dilation.

you sneaky sneaky little husband thief
I'm very bad at noticing if a guy is checking me out or flirting with me. It just never happened until I was ~21 so I never learned to recognize it
I also have trouble noticing if a guy is checking me out or flirting with me
Same. Actually had like a half-hour long conversation with some dude at a coffee shop a couple days ago. One of my gay friends pulled me aside and was all like, "You do know he's like 100% hitting on you, right?"
Had no clue.
My gaydar is fucked up too
Either my boyfriend is the only gay guy I know beside myself, or my gaydar is like 10,000 kilometers below sea level
I recognize flirting, but I really have no use for such things. So I'll just shoot them down flat out unless I can get something of use out of them from the encounter. Men, women, fish; doesn't matter.
Oh you never turn down a fish! How else are you supposed to lure it onto a grill, skillet, campfire, dwarf star, etc. to cook it and enjoy its tasty, tasty flesh?
I just take it and put it there.
Moral of the story: Just take what you want and hope someone doesn't shoot you because of it.

But then I realized that the fish talk was still within a romantic context so I'm concerned again

Xaoz started it
Lol I can't always tell if someone's gay either but I always know who'd be down if they were drunk enough
I'm generally down for fooling around if I'm drunk. I'm never drunk.
I've never been drunk but I would really like to get drunk with my crush bc I feel like he'd get really affectionate
Nah, I'm not the affection or touchy-feely type.

Quote from: SlowPokemon on February 02, 2015, 05:15:28 PMLol I can't always tell if someone's gay either but I always know who'd be down if they were drunk enough
Here's a good trick I use.
Go to a crowded area (coffee shop, for example). Look around. Look at people you might like. Look at their head. If they look up and make eye contact and give you a coy smile, you're in business. If they give you a weird look, look to the next one. Chances are you won't see them again or for a while and they'll forget it.
Quote from: Xaoz on February 02, 2015, 02:54:43 PMYou realize Noc was checking you out last night, right?

I actually really like little kids
and old people
they're way more fun than 80% of people my age
Old people are only fun when they're fun. I used to play piano for demented elderly people and some where really fun, but others were always grumpy. My boyfriend can tell you loads of stories of experiences he had with elderly people.
I work at a retirement home. 90% of the people are just positively cheery, while the other 10% yell at you for the smallest reason.
Quote from: NocturneOfShadow on February 03, 2015, 08:53:11 AMI actually really like little kids

I would even say they are more fun than 100% of people your age!
i'm obviously the funnest persun around ;)
I've always gotten along better with people who were older than me or quite a bit younger.
Recently, however, I have been told to watch my language and have to stay away from difficult topics/adult topics with younger kids.
I act like a sarcastic asshole most of the time because I'm afraid that if I ever showed an ounce of sincerity, people might judge me for the person I actually am rather than the one I pretend to be.

Same! And nobody was responding and I didn't wanna be responsible for killing a thread so I deleted it. XD
Ok these were my confessions:
- I fell asleep during class today and the next table saw me nuuuuuuuuu.
- I hate it when friends start flirting with me, cuz that totally makes everything awkward and ruins the friendship.
- I like this boi and he was talking to my friend a lot so then I kicked him under the table and he blamed my friend and they started arguing. (We all sit in the same table and they never found out it was me HAHAHACHACHA)
- i don't like it wen ppl date before mairage bc thats a sin!
- I don't like it when people can't tell I'm being sarcastic.
- SFK is one of my idols.
I think some of you could relate to this
I used to be ugly and extremely shy, so I have only had 1 boyfriend, and only been on about 7 dates in my life (besides with my bf)
-I can't walk up stairs. I run.
-I can't tune out music, no matter how hard I try
-I don't really talk that much, unless it's around people I feel comfortable with. Then I don't shut up.
-I love cats and hate small dogs.
-I can't whistle
-When I am tired, I offend people
-I have Ad(h)d (Not sure if the H is still there....)
edit: Never been on a date yet. Probably because I'm not social....
Quote from: Maelstrom on February 05, 2015, 08:07:30 PMNever been on a date yet. Probably because I'm not social....

Here is one of mine
-I let my 2 dogs run around in our church sanctuary (There small dogs).
Well I haven't been on a date either so don't feel bad 'bout it. We can make a club!
Friendship is way better than dating tbh. When people date, they take everything way too seriously.
Yeah dates are overrated imo. I'm sure once you meet the right person they're lovely, but in between...
Confessions:
-I forgot this thread existed, along with how I posted in it multiple times
...which brings me to my next confession: I have a really bad long term memory. Anything past a week is almost completely forgotten unless it made a big impact on me
-I unhealthily love gossip (also pirates)
-I've only had one crush for more than half of my life and still going haa..
-When trying new things they usually come easily and I get pretty good at them, but if anything is remotely difficult I shut down and get very frustrated and upset (saying this out loud makes me sound spoiled lmao)
-I've never done a school paper or project prior to the night it is due (regardless of the size of the workload)
-I've probbaly posted at least one of these before

They don't have to actually, its a personal choice. I know plenty of married women who kept their maiden names. Normally its because they already have a job where their name is recognized (doctors, teachers, etc) or they just plain don't want to change
I'd love to change my name just for the experience. I don't necessarily
hate my last name, but it'd be cool to have a new one eventually
I think if you marry someone with a super awesome last name, you're kind of obligated to change yours. I know I would, my last name is kinda meh.
My mom kept hers simply because my dad has a sister by the same name. It causes all sorts of confusion.

I know someone with your last name, but his first name's Nick. He was complaining about my comments that he looked exactly like my English teacher in high school, and he finally let me take a picture for lulz. I can't find the picture anywhere now, but it wasn't that convincing. Maybe if they stood next to each other?
I also hate it when girls become pregnant.

If rules are only selectively enforced towards those that people may dislike more than others, they don't serve much of a purpose beyond being the weapons of the current lynch mob. I was very explicit as to what would not be permitted, so it would have been quite easy to avoid what happened.

I really think it's that we're used to the regular member chemistry so when we get a new member that can't wrap their head around proper forum etiquette, people get agitated quickly. Or at least I do, but I mostly keep it to myself until all the kiddies start getting out of hand.

I hate the scent of cinnamon. Cinnamon air fresheners, candles, cleaners, anything. It is too strong and makes my nose itch. Thank goodness Christmas is so far away now so I don't have to deal with it for a while.
Same!! Cinnamon scent is okay if its mild or on a cinnamon bun, but after doing the cinnamon challenge like 5 years ago I get physically sick whenever I see the stuff
You did the cinnamon challenge?? UGHGHGHGUHGH I could never do that

"The challenge is difficult and carries substantial health risks because the cinnamon coats and dries the mouth and throat, resulting in coughing, gagging, vomiting and inhaling of cinnamon, leading to throat irritation, breathing difficulties, and risk of pneumonia or a collapsed lung."
...do you guys intentionally inhale it? From my experience it dried up my mouth and throat (so I couldn't swallow) then sat there and burned me. The whole thing was followed by about half an hour of tears and spitting in the sink, but I never felt like I was actually going to suffocate

I personally love & respect cinnamon because it's the best alternative toothpaste flavor to mint (seriously, why are there so few non-mint flavors, I really hate mint).
I did it with no problems, but a few of the guys I did it with threw up.
It's like drinking a gallon of milk in less than 5 minutes. The stomach rejects that much milk and you vomit no matter what.
But I love using Cinnamon (and nutmeg and corriander) for added flavors when I don't want to use sugar (like oatmeal or in coffee).
BUT do not do the cinnamon challenge. It most likely won't turn out good.

I have another confession.
I really like honking at people when they've done something stupid. I don't use my car horn enough so I like to do it whenever possible, but I'm not obnoxious about it.
Actually, I haven't honked at someone in a long time. But the last time I did the dude flipped me off even though he was at fault...
I don't honk at people when they do something wrong. If I did, I might as well keep my hand on the horn
Honking is fun :)
I honk, I roll down my window and start screaming, I use suggestive hand gestures of where they should shove their horrible driving.
I think I might have a bit of road rage.
I hate it when people drive so horribly that I have to stop singing the song and scream at them even if they don't hear me. I want to belt out "We Come Running" in traffic without dealing with the horrible shits that drive.
lollollollollol.
Hope I never cut you off ;)

According to my psych class eventually all teenagers have some level of God complex. It's just part of the transition from child brain to adult brain, where you can understand adult topics but you still think the universe revolves around you
And some people stay that way forever, believing that the universe does indeed revolve around them and it therefore gives them the right to shit on other people's heads. *rant*
It's probably different for everyone. Some people just don't have as much confidence as others. I don't think you've been through cases of extreme depression to understand what I mean by that. I've seen a lot of teens who are like literally dead inside, to the point where I can't ever see them as narcissistic/thinking they have a god complex.

Confession time
I've decided that I'm never going to get married. In fact, it seems I'm more reluctant to go into a relationship now than I have ever been in my entire life. For some reason though I still have the desire for intimate companionship but I have come to accept the fact that my chances of finding a person who could meet the standards I require are about the same as my chances of accurately predicting 6 million roles of 3 12-sided dice. I'm well aware that the problem lies in my standards. I hold myself to the exact same standards and even I find myself going against it from time to time. I find myself not being able to recognize when people act without thinking even though I myself do it occasionally.
I also have a problem with how most relationships have become all about the woman in the relationship. (I am making general statements so I am aware that not all women are like this. That's fine but I'm talking about the ones that are.) The man's needs, desires, and emotions are often completely overlooked by a woman who really only cares about having a man to pay for everything she wants to do and to pay for all her needs even though she is perfectly capable of getting a job herself and is in fact more likely to be hired for a job (because of that fuckng discriminatory piece of shit called Affirmative Action). The man is always expected to be the bread winner even though the woman is capable. The man is expected to be the bread winner even if he has to take on dirty danjerous work to provide for his family. We've changed the rules for women and have given them access to everything men have always had access to but the burden still lies on the men. We have the same rules set up for men that they've always lived by. Honestly I look at this and I say it's no fuckng wonder that 4 of 5 suicides are men.
Things aren't made any better when both the man and the woman have jobs. The man's money becomes everybody's money and the woman's money becomes her money.
However if a man speaks up about these things he is labeled as a winer, a sexist, a lazy bum, a deadbeat. All he's asking is to be treated like an equal.
It's not made better when men don't realize the sexism in it and we raise men to believe that it's their responsibility always. They allow themselves to be walked on like a doormat every day in their marriages. They realize they are unhappy but don't know where it's coming from.
This kind of stuff is what really makes me hate society in general. I don't know how else to put it.
See, your post started out relatively safe and level-headed, but then you hit paragraph two and it's clear you've got a massive problem with women. You're making some very mean-spirited, prejudiced and downright rude comments based on something I can only assume you haven't had much experience with.
Now, I have a girlfriend who I love and adore deeply, so let me try and help you understand something here. Stop thinking about your "standards". I think the problem is that you think the process always involves searching. Trust me, more often than not, you end up in a situation where a relationship just happens due to mutual closeness. Nobody's perfect, and that includes you. Be willing to make mistakes, and be willing to let other people make mistakes too. Believe it or not, the world isn't out to get you. And your whole thing about how women just want a man to do everything for them is just...god, it makes me sick. Do not say that, you're not making things any better for yourself. It's not right of you to make that accusation, because it's straight-up not true. I think if you opened your eyes a little, you'd see that people lending each other a helping hand is far more common than you think. Your post reeks of negative personal bias, and I think it would do you some good to think selflessly for once.
Quote from: Dudeman on August 28, 2017, 11:07:50 PMit's clear you've got a massive problem with women
This is not true. I want to make it painstakingly clear that I do not have women. I hate the expectations that society places on men and women often times which benefit women at the expense of men. I can recognize areas where women face disadvantages but each inequality must be dealt with separately. I said before that I am aware that not all women are like this but I know that a good deal of them are or at the very least the one I know personally or have dated previously. I have only had one relationship that broke this mold and as I stated in another thread she died.
I do not have a hatred for women. I am not a misogynist. I am not sexist. I would like to have a long-term female companion but I would not want to marry.
As far as the rest of what you said maybe I am a bit too concerned with searching and just need to let it happen but I still feel like I need to keep my standards and make sure that I keep them as well.
At the same time I find it difficult to recognize when people aren't acting in accordance with their own personal standards. It bother me.
My post is not from personal bias and you are free to judge me however you want but have made this accusation based on my personal experiences and the experiences of the people I am able to observe.
Even if the majority of my post is flawed there are these things that remain as fact
Men are expected by society to be the primary bread winner
Stay at home father's are looked down upon by society because they are not being the provider but are rather choosing to be the caregiver
Quote from: BoywithoutaFairy on August 28, 2017, 11:00:26 PMThings aren't made any better when both the man and the woman have jobs. The man's money becomes everybody's money and the woman's money becomes her money.
How would you know about this? Coming from a family where both parents work and pay for everything, with most of the general payments such as groceries being paid by the mother, I find this comment very strange. Sure my family may not necessarily be the norm, but I don't believe you have stated any evidence to support such a bold claim.
Seriously, if you are just avoiding women because they expect you to be the "bread-winner" then you just simply haven't found the right partner yet. This is something that's clearly a make-or-break for a relationship so if the partners you've had haven't lived up to your beliefs on the situation then you've just been very unlucky or maybe have been taking the wrong route idk.
As if society should completely sway your thoughts on relationships. Letting it do so doesn't help solve the problem either.
Obviously society does not determine how I personally view a relationship but society has an influence on how we are raised and how we are raised influnces our actions.
As for being unlucky, maybe you're right. I've had loads of different people tell me that. Perhaps some of the people I have been with believed similarly to how I believe but the relationships that I would consider possible candidates for that criteria didn't last very long because of other factors.
I'm not really avoiding women as much as I am avoiding romantic relationships. I have plenty of female friends that I talk to regularly but I couldn't see myself being romantically involved with any of them.
I'm not necessarily unable to get along with somebody who doesn't share my beliefs but for a long term companion I'd want someone who does.
On taking the wrong route, maybe I have been. My tactic has been to look for a woman and I have yet to feel any attraction to anyone for almost 2 years. Maybe I should just kick back and let a relationship happen when I'm not necessarily looking for it.
As for your family maybe they are the norm and I'm just ignorant but I'm taking this from the couples and families I have observed. Obviously that number is not high enough to Garner a conclusive statistic and that's why I do not provide one. I can only conclude that at least where I live this is the norm (and I live in the middle of the Bible belt). I have seen families like yours but not many. Majority of the families I witnessed were families where the father is the only bread winner and the majority of them were unhappy.
There is a fairly recent statistic somewhere that stated that women tend to have more spending power than men even when she is unemployed and given my observations that makes sense. Take that for what you will. I don't mean any offense to you or your family and if you have taken offense I do apologise.

Quote from: Dude on August 29, 2017, 04:51:15 AMgood, because you couldn't pay me enough to marry you
Would you like a side of fries with that roast, BWaF?
Friend, society benefits men way more than women. It's a subconscious, subtle difference in treatment a lot of the time, but it's a man's world.
On that note, I've decided I'm never getting married because I like living alone way too much. And I've never met someone who I really wanted to be in a relationship with.
SlowPokemon let me give you a list of examples where society does not benefit men.
Men are not allowed into the majority of domestic violence shelters despite the fact the men make up 43 percent of domestic violence victims
93 percent of workplace fatalities are men
4 of 5 suicides are men
Only 38 percent of college students are men
Men are sentenced to 63 percent more prison time after being convicted of the same crime as a woman
By law many states have to use the Duluth model in domestic assualt proceedings which automatically presumes the man is at fault and if he doesn't confess he is in a state of denial
A woman who gets pregnant from raping a man can sue him for child support (even if he is underage)
A woman who gets pregnant from stolen sperm can sue the man she stole it from for child support
A woman who gets sperm from a sperm donor can sue the sperm donor for child support
There are more safety nets to prevent female homelessness but male homelessness is ignored despite the fact that the majority of the homeless are male
Male victims of domestic violence, sexual assault or rape are not taken seriously at all and are laughed at by the majority
A false allegation of tape is enough to ruin a man's life and cost him his friends family job home position on college campus and so on
Men are required to sign up for selective service which basically states that the government can send them off to be killed whenever they feel like it. If a man does not register he loses the right to vote drive take out loans and access to many different types of jobs
Male genital mutilation is legal while female genital mutilation has been banned
A woman can get an abortion in complete disregard for the wishes of the father. A man who does not want a child is forced into child support. Basically women have the ability to iopt out of parenthood while men do not.
Oh and 95 percent of us military war deaths are male
If I were you, BwaF, I wouldn't focus on statistics here.
Oh sorry I had a brain fart that was meant for slow.
Personally I like to think the suicide statistic is because women are a LOT less likely to use a high-lethality option like a gun. Women attempt suicide a lot more, but end up frequently unsuccessful (which in some cases ends up being worse than dead)
I'm also of the mind that men and women are slightly enough different to be treated differently in certain cases. I know you bring up child rearing as a big part of the injustices done to men but like
My mom works for dcfs and she's not very good at privacy so I overhear a lot about cases
80% of it is single minority women who do nothing but smoke (weed, heroin, whatever). They have the kids because the guy ran off and they can't handle the responsibility. So they go to foster care.
As far as the military, I can't logically think of any reason to exclude women from the service, but it just feels wrong to me, somehow
I heard an argument (on the league of legends forums, so don't sue me) that men would ignore the logical play to protect a woman if they were playing league together. Obviously not 100% true, but I don't know if that has any bearing at all or not
In theory, false rape accusations can be terrible yeah but they're really, really infrequent. Like there are 20x more cases of unreported rape than false allegations or something like that.
Yeah, you've got all these statistics, but they don't mean much, especially if you like viewing society as an extension of male+female+children family unit where each has their own responsibilities (lots of people don't lol)
For example, if more women joined the workforce that work related injury would end up being less skewed (though women are probably less likely to be injured anyway)
I guess what I mean is that policies should match society, so if society suggests women are naturally better caregivers than men, judges should be more inclined to pass custody to the woman even if it's not always the best decision
People tend to stereotype sex more often than I think is true, but sexism as far as policy, education, and work I think is more or less nonexistent
Also, I really don't know what I'm talking about but I like to pretend I do, so humor me
You bring up some very good points.I could debate with you on some of them but overall I agree with what you have said
I feel like this conversation is derailing the point of this thread so I'll agree to disagree.

I'm not going to debate about who has it worse in society, I think both men and women have difficulties in different ways and prejudices affect everyone
But I do want to ask, how old are you??
Some people at my university apparently think I'm smarter than I am. What they don't know is that I hold myself to unrealistic standards, allowing me to accomplish things no sane, reasonable person of my capabilities should be able to. (https://last-life.net/forums/images/smilies/tweeet.gif)
@ZF I am 20. Also I'm not saying that men have it worse. I am simply trying to get people to acknowledge that men have issues in this society as well. I personally believe it's an evenly mixed bag with both men and women being equally victims and perpetrators.
@boywithoutafair
Men's problems, women's problems, and even a lot of homophobia all boils down to the idea that masculinty is superior to feminitity.
Women get payed less because they're the "weaker" gender, so they're subconsiously asssumed to not perform as well.
Women are hardly charged with domestic violence because men are "stronger", therefore how could a women hurt a man?
This is what (real) feminism is trying to fight: by making women and things associated with women veiwed as equal to their male counterparts so all this shit doesn't happen anymore.
While I personally believe the pay gap has other factors at play that is not what I want to focus on. My problem with your post is that you are committing the "No True Scottsman" fallacy. You are using the dictionary definition of feminism. But there are a few issues with that:
Feminism has never been concerned about men's issues. It is a movement about women's issues.
The action of the people who use a label do more to define it than a dictionary does.
Most feminists demonize the men's rights movement which is actually built on trying to fix these issues. They demonize it because any recognition that men have disadvantages in this world is a direct threat to their central belief in the mythical patriarchy.
Feminism hasn't been helping women much in today's world either. Feminism used to be a good thing but has now devolved into an idealogoy which demonizes men and places women into a cycle of perpetual victimhood. I don't about you but that doesn't sound very helpful to me. This is why more and more women are rejecting the feminist label.
To be clear the first 2 waves of feminism we're good movements but modern feminism isn't very helpful to either men's or women's equality.
Also on domestic violence, I agree that that is why male victims are laughed at but that doesn't make it any better. They still need help and support. As of now there is only one men's domestic violence shelter in the entire world.
Them's fightin' words, chief
Uh, no. Do you know what an extremist is?
It doesn't matter if you dub them as extremist. They are the ones with the largest voice. They are the ones in power. They are the ones that have the ability to affect public policy.
Bwaf, you're characterizing the vast majority of people who describe themselves as feminists as terrible people with selfish agendas who treat men like the scum of the earth, and I daresay you won't find any evidence to back that claim up. You've made the mistake of assuming a vocal minority represents an entire group of people instead of realizing that there is a far quieter majority. Seriously, man, you aren't making yourself looking any less like an ignorant entitled teenager, even though I'm sure you're not, and if you keep making sweeping statements like this, you're only going to get hurt.
You also seem paranoid that only these feminist extremists are in power when, as FA has already brought up, an overwhelming amount of evidence still points to male favoritism in American society. You don't look like an enlightened revolutionary; you look like a paranoid complainer.
Dudeman I think you failed to realize that I stated that the feminists that are in power are the extremists (if that's what we're going to call them). You don't think I can back up this claim? Look at BuzzFeed, look at Miz Magazine, look at the National Organization for women. FA has failed to bring up any examples of favoritism towards men in this society besides the wage gap which has been debunked countless times. As I have pointed out men have a large number of disadvantages they face in today's world which no one has bothered to debunk.
And anyway feminism is entirely predicated on the notion that there exists a patriarchy set up by men to benefit men at the expense of women which is just not true.
Third I find it funny you would call me ignorant of things I have been researching for the past three years. Usually talking to people far older and wiser than myself. Specifically people who either have careers in this field and/or personal experiences with the issues I have described.
Finally stop assuming that I believe every member of a particular group is a certain way. Multiple times I have acknowledged that not all members of a group act a certain way but I am referring to the ones that are. You keep using the not all ____ argument. I already know that. I'm talking about the ones that are.
My intentions are not to prove to you that women live more difficult lives than men, I'm trying to get it across to you that the issues you are complaining about are also issues that feminists are trying to fight. You're fucking on the same side as the majority of feminists, but apperantly you're too dense to see that women's issues and men's issues aren't mutually exclusive.
EDIT: as for extremists being the one's in power, they aren't. No man hating-legislation has come out of contemporary feminism. Everything you've been complaining about comes from more traditional veiws of gender roles.
I have yet to see a feminist fight for any of these issues. In fact I have seen quite the opposite. I have seen feminists try to shut down conferences which discuss these issues. I have seen the launch smear campaigns against The Red Pill, a documentary on men's issues released in March 2017. As for the extremists in power, I have already sited 3 examples but I'll provide more imperical data that shows feminism is not concerned with men's issues.
I'll have to do it tomorrow though because I'm having to use my data which is draining my battery faster than my phone can charge it. Tomorrow I will have WiFi and will be able to provide a large collection of data.
For now though if you have 2 hours and a Hulu subscription I suggest watching The Red Pill. It's a documentary discussing men's issues and how they've been ignored.
I have never found any rebuttals against the points made by MRAs in the film. I have however seen feminists shut down screenings of this film and get it completely banned in some countries.
EDIT: I don't have a belief that either gender has it worse and frankly that doesn't really matter. I am simply acknowledging the issues that face men that are being ignored. That does not mean that I hate women. Not does it mean that I don't believe they face issues. They do, but the actual issues they face are not issues I see feminists discussing. Feminism is a women's movement. That's why it's called feminism. There are good people in the feminist movement. There are not good people in the radical feminist/social justice movement. The radical feminist/social justice movement is the only one that tends to get any attention.

THIS^^^ so much.
I tend to tell people I'm an "equalist" rather than a "feminist" because the
word alone makes people have such a visceral reaction these days
@BwaF
to get back to the original topic at hand, you are only 20 and have a very long time to find someone. The average age that men get married in the US is 29 years old. (Though I think you mentioned something about not wanting to get married?) You're young, and I know it's lonely at times, and seems hopeless - TRUST ME, I've been there - but I believe there is someone for everyone out there. You'll probably find them when you least expect it. In the meantime, I suggest focusing on yourself, your studies, hobbies, your health, music, whatever it is you do, and just enjoy being happy with yourself because in the end, that's really all you've got.
I agree that maybe I'll eventually find someone who I'd want to spend my life with but I still will not get married and I may even be reluctant to have children (cross that bridge when I get to it). My reasons for not wanting marriage are rather extensive and way too long to list in a forum post so I'll not go into it but suffice it to say the majority of it deals with the laws surrounding divorce.
Yeah totally understandable. I know a lot of people who have been together for years but aren't married. And these days it's not as big of a deal if you don't do it. In some states they even have "Common Law Marriage" where you get certain (if not all) rights that married people get without actually being married. Iirc, you have to be together for 7 years for that to take effect.
