In any case, thanks for all the warm welcomes! I'm working on my recording situation right now... not optimal XD I'm currently arranging a couple of songs from pokemon XD Gale of Darkness, so we'll see how that goes... (Phenac City and the Pokemon Lab)
And thanks @KefkaticFanatic for moving my post to the appropriate place ^^
Can't wait to get to know all of the fabulous arrangers here and everything!

Feedback / Re: Dynamics and fingering
February 25, 2015, 01:52:35 PM
Dynamics are good to have on sheets, though if you're really skilled you can figure out the general mood and how the phrasing determines dynamics and all that.
Fingering I can see a problem with if we don't have a disclaimer like "these are only suggestions!", as fingering is just that. If you get a great edition of the Chopin Etudes, for example, the fingerings will vary from edition to edition (except for one specific etude, where only 400 individual fingerings were written by the composer, as it was the purpose of the etude. Opus 10 number 2 if anyone is wondering), but it's not worth going out and buying other copies to get a better fingering on your score. It's generally best to do what suits your hand best, rather than what a score says. Our hands also change over time, so letting your natural fingering take over is a good idea. Just don't do anything that is terribly inefficient... Hopefully I made sense XD

Feedback / Re: Difficulty setting
February 25, 2015, 01:47:33 PM
I'll put in my 2 cents here. Coming from a classical background, the exam boards would put "levels" around all kinds of rep. Rarely were these ever accurate; I had multiple occasions where I'd go "That's only level ____?!" or, "How is this not level _____?!".
As has been said, difficulty is individual. I also disagree somewhat with the "practice even if it's too hard" somewhat; if a piece is truly beyond your capabilities it's generally better to go on a more conservative path to learn other pieces to help you with your goal piece. This doesn't apply as much to the kind of music arranged here, as it's fairly simple to simplify the piece enough, vs classical where you follow the score as written nine times out of ten.
It may help to put difficulty tags next to a specific score, however, that informs the player of certain technical problems that may come up in the piece (lots of fast octaves, big chord leaps, fast arpeggios, etc.), so that they don't go "What the #&%@? This sounds easy!" or something similar.
Take care all~

Off-Topic / Hi!
February 25, 2015, 01:39:56 PM
Hi there! I hope this is the right section... if not, then just move the thread I guess ;D
In any case, I just wanted to say hello and introduce mehself.. My name is Harrison.. I come from Sootopolis City of the Hoenn region, as indicated by my forum name. I decided to give back to this community of crazily talented people in exchange for using the arrangements available here.
I'm a fairly advanced pianist, mostly in classical repertoire. Right now I'm doing Chopin's Polonaise in A major "Military", Chopin's G minor ballade, amongst other things.... Anyways, I'm happy to be here and hopefully you can see some arrangements coming from me soon!
