Piano Arrangements / Re: "Fixing the Sheets" Project II
October 07, 2011, 06:39:39 PM
For now, I'll take The Tunnel theme from Metroid II and the Theme of Super Metroid. I'll claim more in a few days.

EDIT: I'm going to go ahead and critique the rest of the sheets for quality. I'll make notes on playability, formatting, etc. Unless anyone else was really interested in looking at these, I'll get the commentary put together by the end of the week. Then I'll pick out any songs I want to re-arrange.

A few other notes: the arrangement of Tallon Overworld on the site is actually an arrangement of this piece (the second version of the Tallon Overworld). Also, the link that should go to the Metroid Prime 2 Main Theme instead goes to the Hydrodynamo Station.

Quote from: JaMaHa on October 05, 2011, 11:57:09 PMSo a byte walks into a bar. The bartender asks "What's wrong?" "Parity error" "Yeah, I thought you looked a bit off."

A cop stops Heisenberg who's speeding with his car. "Do you have any idea how fast you were going?", the cop asks. Heisenberg replies: "No, but I knew exactly where I was!"

ex and 1 are walking when they see derivative heading towards them. "Oh no!", 1 yells, "That derivative is going to destroy me", to which ex replied: "Don't worry, I'm ex and I'm immune to the derivative!" So ex walks up to the derivative and says "Good afternoon, I'm ex". The derivative replies "Well hello there. I'm the derivative...with respect to y"

I'm glad I get all of these too. The Heisenberg joke is classic!  :D

I've never been a huge Blink fan either, but from what I've heard (iTunes previews!), it sounds like they picked up right where they left off. I may get a single or something one day.

Nine Inch Nails is a pretty cool band, but I don't really see me actually buying a full album by them. Their style isn't very accessible. And i've never heard of Less Than Jake actually. Also, it is a little disappointing that The White Stripes disbanded. They made some good stuff, but Jack White's side projects should remain interesting though. The Raconteurs have some interesting tunes anyway.

The only albums I got this year were by Queens of the Stone Age (two of them), Them Crooked Vultures (excellent and quirky supergroup), and I'm planning on picking up the new Mastodon album (which is totally amazing). Most of the stuff I like does tend to be heavier than most people's tastes here... Indie Rock just isn't my kind of genre for the most part.

Did anyone get any good albums from this year? Apparently it's been an interesting year for popular music so far as there are quite a few successful bands who have broken up/got back together again. (REM and Blink-182 come to mind).

And to continue past discussion, Muse is pretty good, but not great. However, I don't like Rise Against at all. I get a lot of flak for that as I am the only person I know who doesn't think they're one of the greatest bands out there. I'm just not a huge fan of that style of rock music. I just don't find their work very interesting.

This sounds like a good excuse to start arranging again. I only have one replacement in progress (I suppose technically it's done), though I am planning on updating my Super Mario Land 2 Arrangements. (Along with G-Han's 2 arrangements there) My In-Progress post just has a list of songs I'd like to work on, but haven't begun yet.

I will also sign up to be a quality control person. I can definitely help on that.

Thanks for getting this project started back up!

Nintendo / Re: 3DS GBA Games
October 02, 2011, 09:26:57 AM
Free games are nice, but they have to be good. I really don't like any of the NES games they gave out honestly. I'm much more excited about the GBA ones cause I've never played Metroid Fusion and Yoshi's Island is an amazing game.

I think Superstar Saga seems pretty likely to be released. I never beat it so another shot at it would be great. Wario Land 4 is another great game that I'd be willing to play again. I really don't know or care which other games they release because those few above are more than enough for me.

Lastly, these games will definitely be released for paid download on the eShop. Nintendo would be foolish not to, and I think they've already mentioned a few times that they were going to release "enhanced versions" later on with multiplayer or something. Those will still be free for ambassadors though.

Quote from: Roz~ on September 28, 2011, 06:35:48 PMIt's a new game that includes the GBA version if I remember correctly. So it's worth downloading.
Actually, it's the same as the GBA game, but there's some new levels based on older Zelda titles like the original LoZ, Link to the Past, etc. The trailer on the eShop demonstrates a few of them. But anyway, it's free so there's really no reason to not get it. I think the free download ends in February so don't procrastinate!

Oh my god, yes!!!
This is one of my favorite games ever! Maybe when I get 4 bucks to throw away I'll download it.

Actually, I've never heard of it.

I get all my news from Nintendo World Report and Destructoid.

But the Tanooki Mario keychain looks pretty cool! I don't think it's very common for publishers to give pre-order bonuses for portable games, right?

I used to play tons of Mario Party 3! The mini-game themes are some of my favorite songs. Keep going with the MP arrangements!

I love all the Cycling themes so I'm glad to see this one finished! Thanks Shadoninja.

Yeah, Toad Town sounds great! It definitely is your best arrangement.

It's so hard to choose between PiT and BIS, but I'm going to go with Inside Story. It's just a lot funnier and has better music and environments.

Hammer Bros are so much more classic and memorable than Pokeys.

Awesome! I'm planning on booting it up today so it's a good thing it turned out so well.

EDIT: Turns out it is a lot of fun. If you haven't played Star Fox before, it should be worth a look.

Mario 64. I grew up with that game and other than that blasted level where you have to fly to the clouds for red coins, all the levels are tons of fun. Mostly, I like the non-linearity of the worlds compared to Super Mario Galaxy. Exploring the areas and really learning the map was much more exciting than going through pre-set paths.

Not that SMG (or SMG2) is bad, I just like 64 better. And it's more sentimental anyway.
