Although I think there are probably certain "natural" language learners, most of it is motivation, time, dedication, and methodology.  It's a huge pain learning a language and it's extremely frustrating at times, I don't think I have any natural ability but I do currently have a decent dedication to it and a healthy interest in it as well.  French I do for the sake of the homeland and possible future work and Spanish I do for the love of Latin women - one in particular at the moment.

A few months ago I started learning Spanish.  It took me about two months to understand my copy of Hansel and Gretel, about two weeks to get through The Brave Tailor, and now I am very happy that it took me only two nights to get through Cinderella.  I only had to translate three words on each of the last pages for Cinderella, so I am pretty happy with the results so far.

It took a while to realize that being alive is a good thing, even when it sucks.

Oh well anyway, I hope everyone here is doing well too.

Quote from: Dude on September 02, 2017, 03:53:50 PMyou were a little bit emo, weren't you...

Depressed, resentful, and on a lot of drugs.

It was a terrible terrible time and I almost didn't make it out alive.

My view of the past is very divided.  Much of my teen years I view as negative for a lot of reasons...yet whenever I think of this website I have this cozy feeling.  I remember being 14 and spending nights on this site's chat. Here I am at 24.

Quote from: AmpharosAndy on June 03, 2017, 03:36:30 PMIt's good because they make for easy (and 'thoughtful') presents. My best dude has been buying his long time partner them for years. I need to get in on it.

Only problem is how expensive they are.  The mastering and quality of the vinyl is also very hit and miss...some expensive vinyls sound like garbage....or at least, not better than Spotify quality.

Many of them sound great though, especially if paired with good equipment...and I love them.

Quote from: Altissimo on March 25, 2017, 11:52:10 AMI decided not to watch the show because my best friend hates it with a passion lol

I find how much someone likes Game of Thrones to be a good indicator of how much I'll like them.

If they don't like the show, there is a small chance I'll get along with them.   If they like the show too much and tell me about a fan theory or fan fiction they read, I will most likely realllly not like them.

It's Hemingway pouring himself another vermouth.  It makes me comfortable.

My real thought of the moment..I'm heartbroken. Met a Brazilian girl in Toronto and became infatuated.  Never met a woman so beautiful, so smart, and so interesting. Never had a woman made me feel so warm and good about myself.  Yet she goes home to Brazil tomorrow. I'm suffering now. Such is life...and life is suffering.  Ah she left me with a message filled with positive compliments..which gives me happiness and hope...but also leaves me wallowing in the worst pit of longing! Only now I feel truly human.

Every few months (or years) I will stop by and make 1-5 posts in this thread.

It's my duty.

Quote from: SlowPokemon on November 05, 2016, 07:42:25 AMMy favorite thing is how Harvest is only three years older than me when all this time I thought he was 28 or something

Well...I guess I'm glad I seem mature these days.  I'll be 24 in January.

Does NSM still have a chat?  I remember spending a lot of time there like ten years ago.
