Quote from: Bloop on January 01, 2015, 03:04:17 PMIf you're using a full version of finale (or another version which might have one: I'm only comfortable with the full version), you can hide staves via the staff tool. I'm using it too. It hides an instrument for a whole line of measures as long as it doesn't play anything.

Thanks, but I already knew that. I'm talking about playback issues (dynamics, panning, etc). It's just a comfort matter, If I can't it's ok...

Quote from: Olimar12345 on January 01, 2015, 02:43:58 PMI believe that would be multiple arrangements, and we're only doing one. If it is a finale limitation issue, I or others here would be glad to help you ^^

I know how variations scores are written, but ill be using different instruments for each variation/arrangement and it would be more comfortable if i write them on separate files. Oh well, if it's not possible then, I think ill be omitting some playback features.

can i do the variations on separate MUS files? :=)

Quote from: MaestroUGC on December 28, 2014, 08:52:42 PM1. No. You just must present the original music (notes, pitches, rhythms) faithfully before setting variations.

2. Go wild.

3. All you need to give me is a functioning MUS files. Anything else is supplemental.

1. So no transcription? Just a link, e.g. a YT link? Or a transcription with all the right notes for, let's say, piano solo?

Here are my questions!

1.
Quote from: MaestroUGC on December 28, 2014, 08:03:59 PM- You must present the original theme, unchanged and unaltered, before any of the variations.
Does this means that I must transcribe the piece with the same instrumentation (mine's 8-bit lol)?

2.
Quote from: MaestroUGC on December 28, 2014, 08:03:59 PM- You must have a minimum of 5 variations. Anything less will result in a score of "0".
Can I change the style/genre (e.g. waltz, fugue, salsa, etc), harmonies and/or distribution of the motifs? or should it be classical-like variations? Example:
and the ones which Olimar posted...

3. Can I use VSTs and give u the MUS just for notation/reading purpose?

You have until 11:59 PM CST Dec 26th, to sign-up and send me the piece you will be working with for the contest, otherwise you will not be allowed to compete.

- Ive already sent you that, but I dont know where can i see my sent pms. Ill send you again just in case.
- I suppose If my theme choice is invalid ull let me know, right?

must i transcribe the original theme too or just the arrangements?

Hmm, i tried transcribing that part for Bb Clarinet, and then added a violin section doing the same thing. It sounded very similar, it's a good VSTs matter i think. MIDI

Well thanks guys for clearing that up :)

EDIT: Naah it's an oboe XD

Quote from: Dudeman on November 15, 2014, 11:29:23 PMHm...I really think it's a violin section. I'm not hearing any sort of woodwind sound. Then again I may not be hearing the right part...but that's what I'm getting.

There's a violin section playing too, but a more quiet figure. To me it sounds like a oboeish viola/violin solo xD
