Forum Games / Ultimate Character Battle
September 20, 2008, 05:47:18 PM
Well I've seen this game around and thought we should set one up here. It can be characters, games, songs, or whatever lists we can think of. The way it would work is that I would change the poll every few days or so with the new characters/whatever we decide to use. What are people's thoughts/nominations?

Forum Games / The four word story!
September 18, 2008, 06:43:10 PM
If any of you have heard of the four word story, here it is on NSM! The rules are simple: post four more words to continue along the story that is being connected between all of the different posts. You may have the story take whatever turns you wish, as long as the general NSM rules are followed. Try not to post too much without others posting, so we get a variety. Never post twice in a row. Here we go!

I made a topic...

Alright this is a new game. If anyone doesn't know how to play, here are the rules:

A list of characters is compiled, whether it be from a certain video game, posters on NSM, etc., and that list is posted in this topic. Then, each user picks which character they wish to "save" and then that character cannot be eliminated that round. We go on picking which characters we want to save, until only one character is left unsaved. That character is then eliminated, then the next round is started, with all of the original characters except the one that was unsaved the first round. The rounds go on and the last character standing is the champion.

Rules:
1. You may only save ONE character per post.
2. You may save a character once every round, OR once a day, which ever comes sooner. Note: After this round, round 13, we will return to normal rules. One vote per day.
3. Do not use alts for extra votes.
4. The list that is made must have something to do with NSM, whether it be about users, video games, or music.
5. For video games, if a character's presence has any sort of spoilers, please label it in big bold letters.

Tips:
1. I'll accept suggestions for what the first list should be. After this first list, however, the user who makes the final vote for the winning character (when the round gets down to just two characters left and somebody saves one) gets to make the next list. (although they may accept suggestions also)
2. Please post in this format:

Characters
Here goes all the characters for the round

Saved Characters
When you save a character, move him/her from the characters list to here

Dead Characters
Put any previously eliminated characters here (I'll try to do this myself but go ahead and do it yourself to keep the game moving)

3. I'll put an all-time champions list at the beginning of the topic

So I think that's about it. If you have any questions and comments put them right here, even when a game has started. I'll wait until this topic gets some more views and I get some suggestions before we start.

Microsoft / Mass Effect, Oblivion, or Bioshock?
August 16, 2008, 09:39:25 PM
So I really want to get Mass Effect (mass effect=bioware=kotor) but if somebody here can convince that bioshock or oblivion (both games I also want to get) is better, I'll get that.

Off-Topic / My Rate the Game topic
August 16, 2008, 06:09:17 PM
So I started this topic in the gaming topic and I wanted to spread the word (the first game only got 4 votes, including myself)

There are two topics: The nominations and suggestions topic, and The voting topic

The noms and suggestions topic is where you can post your questions, comments, suggestions, and they will be answered. The other purpose is to post nominations for which game for me to put in the voting topic. There have already been a few nominations, but we need a lot more.

The voting topic is the main topic, in which you give a review for the game that is currently being featured. You must give a numerical review, of 0-10 by increments of 0.1. An explanation to your score is optional. After the voting period ends, which right now is 3-4 days although as the topic gets more popular it will get shorter, I average together the posted scores, then move on to the next game. All of the games ever voted on will be posted in the topic, so you can compare the different scores for different games. It should give an accurate representation of what NSM thinks about certain games. Even if you haven't played the game, you are still welcome to come and discuss the game.

The problem right now is that not too many people know about the game yet, and only 4 votes is not only not that fun, but it also does not give an accurate represenation of NSM as a whole. I hope more people join the discussion.

So is this game as good as the console ones and is it worth picking up if you really liked the console ones?

PC / Official Kotor MMO topic
August 13, 2008, 09:31:01 PM
So as the kotorfanboy, I decided that I would take the initiative to make the official kotor mmo topic. Information is scarce (even bioware.com refuses to rename its unnamed MMO project to kotor mmo) but any ideas about the game or news people have is welcomed to be posted here.

Feedback / The money thing?
August 13, 2008, 09:27:35 PM
So I'm wondering if the money thing (it probably has a more official name lol) from before the site crash would be implemented again.

Gaming / Rate the Game - Nominations and Comments
August 11, 2008, 05:46:14 PM
This topic has been approved by JaMaHa

Alright, I'm starting this new topic here, in which NSM users will rate the game of the day, and I will average together all of the scores and post them in the topic. This topic is for suggestions, comments, and rules.

Rules:
-I'll post a new game each day, and voting will run from midnight to midnight Eastern US time (I may post the game the night before, then say how many hours until voting begins in the post)
-One post per person per day. No posting with alternative accounts for more than one post per day
-Rate the game on a score 0-10, with increments of 0.1

This is just the suggestions and comments topic, the actual voting topic will open a week from Wednesday (I'll post reminder posts as the day grows near)

You can nominate which game you want (more than one is welcomed) to be rated in this topic

I hope everyone puts in their input and has fun  :)

p.s. Please put the word out across NSM so we have as many votes as possible and the best representation of what the users of NSM think of each game

Microsoft / Best online games
August 06, 2008, 04:27:47 PM
Was just wondering what the general consensus here was. My vote is for Halo 3, because although I love COD4, Halo 3 has tons of custom game options, and forge mode.

Nintendo / I just found my gameboy
August 06, 2008, 04:20:25 PM
My gameboy advance sp had been missing for months and months and I just found it in a pile of my dad's stuff. What's better is now I can play super mario bros deluxe which was in it when I lost it.  :)

Nintendo / How do you pronounce okami?
August 05, 2008, 12:56:37 PM
Everyone I know calls it oh-ka-me, with the a accented.
I call it oak-a-me, with the o accented. The o has an accent on the front of the box and some voices in the game said oak-a-me when I started up the game for the first time, making me think that I have the correct pronunciation. Anybody know which pronunciation is right?

Help! / Can't get repeats to work
July 24, 2008, 01:49:24 PM
I've inserted repeats at the beginning and end of the song but they don't work. The song plays through and then ends, not repeating. How do I make these repeats work? ???
