[PS1] Threads of Fate - "Forest of Departure"
[MID] [MUS] [MUSX] [PDF] [Original]

Been listening to this soundtrack recently, and I've just gotten totally absorbed in Nakano's writing here. I think this piece has a really good balance of his rhythmic and melodic styles.

It's funny, I hear it exactly the opposite and for exactly the same reason... the drums:
Spoiler

It makes so much more sense to me with the bass on beats 1 and 3, and the snare on beats 2 and 3.5/4 (alternating every other measure). The hi-hat suggests it should be written like you guys said, but I just don't hear it.
[close]

I've talked with several people now on Discord and they've all said the same thing, so it's probably correct to change it, but idk man I just don't hear it this way no matter how hard I try to. But if more people hear it this way, they'll probably more easily be able to read and play the sheet, so I suppose I can change it.

Also known by the much better title of Dank Dungeons...
  • m1 should also have an accent on it; the strings alone are also accented even without the timpani (splitting the channels confirms this).
  • Staccatos on the RH 16ths maybe? I guess at this tempo it doesn't matter that much.
  • Slurs in m3 are going through the sharps
  • You have enough room to space out the systems a bit

Snowy version is here, Cherry Blossom Festival Version is here.

Title from here.

In m1 and 5 I hear the low and high E (E4 and E5), along with C5 and G5; that is to say I hear all the notes you guys are talking about. I think the best way to write it would be to have the LH play the low E (it's a bit of a stretch but definitely possible), while the RH plays C-E-G.

Quote from: LeviR.star on November 25, 2020, 11:09:37 PMEhh, I'm still not convinced. Listening to this extra carefully in AudioStretch, I hear no F whatsoever. Agree to disagree?
Alright, sounds fine to me then. I have nothing more to say on this piece, so I'll approve

[GCN] Animal Crossing - "6:00 A.M."
[MID] [MUS] [MUSX] [PDF] [Original]

A nice chill little tune
#1121
Quote from: LeviR.star on November 14, 2020, 05:05:56 PM- should the bottom of that chord on beat 3.5 be a C or an E?
Either is fine, but I heard a C. E might be easier to play.

Quote from: LeviR.star on November 14, 2020, 05:05:56 PM- that's fine. would you like that F# to be added in there, like I just did?
Yep, looks good

Quote from: LeviR.star on November 14, 2020, 05:05:56 PM- that F isn't actually there, Zeila corrected me before. It is present in the Super Mario 3D World arrangement, though
I hear it in this version too, although its less clear because the attack on those notes is very soft compared the more crisp attacks in 3D World.

Everything else looks great
#1122
I managed to sneak some time in to take a look at this; the sheet looks great! But the sheet should be set to the piano sound right? I see no reason to change the instrumentation for this sheet if it's not explicitly written otherwise (like the Deep Sea of Mare sheet or something).

Edit: Either way it's fine as-is, so I'll accept
#1123
Quote from: LeviR.star on October 22, 2020, 11:17:58 AMThe name of the submission also needs to be changed to reflect the sheet on the file.
Done

Quote from: Latios212 on November 21, 2020, 12:44:02 PMJust one quick question - do you have a source for the composer being just Shinobu Tanaka (vs. Kenta Nagata)? I see you credited the original composition to both in your MK8 sheet (and misspelled Ryo Nagamatsu while I'm looking at it...)
I forgot where I found that info, so I checked it. The Mario Kart 8 OST says the composer is unknown, and the only other Double Dash music on any official albums are these two, so I'll add Kenta Nagata. Fixed the MK8 version too (and changed the key sig to match this one, shortened the first measure, and added https).

A certain someone here really wanted me to arrange this, so I finally did.
