Help! / Re: Finale Notepad for Mac problem
October 29, 2020, 10:03:23 AM
I didn't realize it, but there's a free trial for the Mac version, so I think I'll get that. But I'll have to go through and fix all of my sheets 'cause only one is up to standards currently.

Help! / Re: Finale Notepad for Mac problem

I have quite a few files, and I don't want to bother someone each time I'm submitting something, but if somebody is willing to help, okay! Thank you! (And yes, I use musescore)

Also, can just changing the file's tag from .mxl to .mus work?

Help! / Finale Notepad for Mac problem
October 28, 2020, 04:32:57 PM
I want to submit an arrangement, but I need Finale Notepad for the .mus file. However, I can only find a payed version for Mac. I don't want to pay for it since I really have no use for it other than to get the .mus file, so I'm not sure what I should do.

I'm going to submit this once I've finished converting it to the proper files.

Ah, okay

I think a hidden 8vb and the dynamic text it the perfect idea, since I didn't know about that clef not being for piano, thank you!

I will be submitting once I get all my files in order, and convert them into the .mus, .midi, and .pdf files.

"LH chords at the end of m6 and m22 aren't playable at all."
It's supposed to be played by both hands (r.h. playing the top chord, l.h. playing the bottom notes).
I just left it out 'cause it's natural for me when I'm playing to cover the notes that my right hand can't cover with my left hand and vice versa. I wasn't sure how I should label that those notes should be played with the right hand.

"The bassline in m3-10 isn't really like you wrote it at all. The bass guitar hits the same notes every time in m3 and similar, and does some really interesting stuff in m9-10 that you just left out."
I have to listen to it again, but I usually have a hard time picking out notes with my ears.

"I'm not sure tremeloes are the best approximation for what the LH is doing in m11-17..."
I'm honestly not to sure what's going on there.

"Those repeated LH chords on b2 of every measure aren't that playable. I suggest, for, say, m2, removing the C in the chord on beat 2 and 3 and having the chord on b2.5 just be the C. This would give you the feel of the original without any repeated notes."
I don't find it too difficult, but if that would be a problem when I submit it to the site then I will make it easier. I have been known to have dyslexia from time to time, so correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no C in m.2 on beats 2 & 3. Unless you're not counting the intro measure, in which case, I'd say it's a good idea, since I do find that my hand tires quickly while playing the current left hand.

"8vbs are your friends. please use them.
There's more stuff in between m19 and 26 than you have written.
The major issue here is note beaming. Check out this thread and tell me if you need a longer explanation:
https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/index.php?topic=10492.0
Also, please tie the half notes to whole notes in the empty measures. There is never a moment of silence in the original, so I don't know why you would have one here.
Maybe incorporate more of the drums into the LH? It would make it more interesting to play."

I was planning on fixing this, and actually using and 8vb bass clef instead. Every other problem is due to my inexperience as a music sheet writer and arranger, I will be fixing it.

"for the love of notation, please please space your measures out further. Everything is so crammed that it ruins the spacing. Take m18, for example. Since there's no 2nd layer rests, it's impossible to tell what beat that quarter note is actually on since it's spaced the same as the half notes in m14."
Yeah, this is also due to inexperience with Musescore and writing sheet music.

"I think fff is a bit excessive for this. mf or mp would be better imo."
Uh, that would be due to me thinking it was extra loud since I had the volume up while arranging it.

"I'm positive the harmonies are not just 3rds all the way through the first page. There's much more going on here. Pretty sure there's always something going on in the LH, not sure why there's a few measures of rests. When things speed up, the RH is not just octaves here. There's more going on here (and not just 3rds)."
Again, this is all due to my inexperience, as this was literally my first score. I will be fixing it when I get around to it.

"Daily Life also desperately needs proper note beaming as well."
Yeah, I only found out about proper beaming recently, I will fix this too. (I'm assuming you're talking about Everyday Life)

Thank you for the advice :)
