  "It's a little mainstream..."

Sounds like winterkid is a hipster.

And I said "you sick freaks" not because of all the sexuality that's in even children's anime, but because anime is just so bizarre (which is how everything in Japan is, as SuperFireKirby said) and generally horribly-written and cliched. A lot of anime has some annoying person, an overly-serious guy that's always got a >:( face on and introspectively staring off into space, and everyone wears ridiculous clothing. Women always have huge boobs and nine-year-old girls are always very under-dressed and sexualized. And everything's ridiculous fighting that breaks the laws of physics. So it's all those things that go together to make me not like anime. I'm not closed-minded, obviously, since I've seen stuff I like, but the vast majority is trash in my opinion.

On another note, does anyone watch Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series or DBZ: The Abridged Series? Those are pretty freaking hilarious.

YOU CAN'T USE THAT WORD! IT BELONGS TO AMERICA!

That you're a hipster?

And why does the word hipster belong to America? And since I'm American, can I use it?

Well it was your intent behind the word, not the word.

I have no idea what the heck hipster means, I know what you were getting at, and I have never heard that word in America before.

Hipster:
Refers to young people of around 18-30 years of age, who drink cheap beer (most often Pabst Blue Ribbon, on occasion Budwiser), smoke Parliaments, Lucky Strikes or hard to obtain foreign cigarettes (such as Gauloises) and take recreational drugs, coke being the most popular. Use a great deal of sarcasm, claim to be ironic. Are usually less than 5% body fat, drink copious amounts of coffee and eat children's cereal. Listen to Indie Rock, rely heavily on Pitchfork Media to tell them what's cool. Don't dance at concerts. Wear a mixture of thrifted clothing and items bought at American Apparel (commonly Tri-blend v-necks) and Urban Outfitters. Extremely tight jeans worn by both sexes, pairing these with either a band or b-movie t shirt and a plaid shirt/v-neck and a cardigan along with Nike hi-tops/Vans/Keds. Females often wear retro style dresses and racerback tank tops without bras. Eschew public transport and instead choose to ride fixed-break bikes. Often claim to know about literature and film - will have googled a good deal of Vonnegut and French New Wave cinema.

To sum it up, hipsters listen to indie music. If you've heard of it, it's not indie. x)
They're in that click that spend their free time playing hackey-sack, for some reason.

Basically, a hipster is someone that might choose not to do something because it is too "mainstream".
ALSO, I  RAISED DRAGONS BEFORE IT BECAME MAINSTREAM ON NSM.

well, detracting BACK to anime:

you seem to like shonen stuff, I'll list the shonen stuff I've seen.

Code Geass
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Azumanga Daioh
Ga-Rei (haven't finished manga but anime was alright)

Seinen (more mature, but no porn) stuff:

Neon Genesis Evangelion (everyone should watch this anime)
Blade of the Immortal
K on!
Elfen Lied
Rozen Maiden

Stuff from my childhood: Sailor Moon, Yugioh, Digimon, Dragonball Z, Pokemon

Yes, I've seen that. A bit harsh on the ears at points and a little disturbing in a couple of episodes, but quite good. I enjoyed reading the comics.

Anyone heard of psyren? I've only read one or two chapters, and it wasn't bad.
My brother says it's really awesome, though.
