TPBM doesn't know how to classify most of the games they play. (What exactly is Professor Layton?)

Irrelevant to this topic, but Ace Attorney and Professor Layton are both considered adventure games, as are most story based games. Ace Attorney is the CLASSIC example of an adventure game, since you literally just progress through an adventure. Layton has heavy puzzle elements as well, so it would be considered both adventure and puzzle.

Phoenix Wright is considered to be along the lines of a VN (visual novel) due to the general setup with large ammounts of text with a bit of point and click gameplay. Sort of like 999/VRL.

Although those are both forms of VN, they are also both adventure games. Adventure games don't really mean what they sound like or what most people consider them as. Phoenix Wright is literally the modern day perfect example of an adventure game.

Close, but Zelda is actually known as an "action-adventure" game, which is different because of the amount of gameplay and interactivity it involves, even though you're progressing through an adventure/story.
