I'm homeschooled so I don't "do" sick days.

I never got to take a sick day. Ever. My parents always made me go to school.

I'm trying to find out what logical reasoning people have for doing this, but it evades me. It reminds me of when I was in Kindergarten: they gave out an award for the student who showed up for EVERY day of class. The winners were people who came every day despite being sick, most likely getting everybody else sick in the process (hey, at least it's eliminating the competition!).

Today didn't start out great....

I had to get up for work at 5am this morning, after only 4 hours of sleep. I get ready to go out to my car, turn it on and... nothing. My car battery is dead. I only know one of my neighbors and have just one friend who is close enough to help, but he's on his way to work and I can't bother the neighbor at this hour... So I call my boss and tell him I can't come in. I missed out on 6 hours of overtime today

But my day got better.
Later my neighbor gave me a jump so I drove to get a new battery. They tested it, it was defective, and since I had only had it 1.5 years, they replaced it for free! Lucky me, I didn't have to shell out another $130-ish for a new battery!
