those red notes

how do you get to those red notes on finale, so that you can play two melodies at the same time? like have a whole note and a few quarter notes in the same beats?  how do you get that?

The numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 are in the bottom left hand corner of the Finale screen.  1 is the default black notes layer, 2 is the red notes second layer, and 3 and 4 are addition layers you can use.  Just click the number to change the layer.
