Wrist technique is important for arpeggios and scales, that's all.  You don't need to concentrate on your wrist - you just need to relax it, and you'll do the right motions naturally.
Quote from: SuperFireKirby on May 12, 2012, 07:46:58 PMYou do want to keep them relaxed though, mostly to avoid injuring them. Having screwed up wrists sucks, trust me.
I used to have a really stiff wrist.  Luckily for me I managed to change my technique before I got injured, but I still got injured anyway.  Currently my third finger right hand is injured, and I have to play one hand pieces for 3 weeks, then 9 finger pieces for the next three weeks...
The purpose of life is to survive.  Deal with it.

Birth of a Child: Holy Diver - Dio
As fog pours out of the womb, my baby emerges with sword in hand and unleashing his battlecry.  Just like his old man.

Learning a couple songs right now on my violin for my final school concert, which is in three weeks, I think.  Let's hope I have most of these song names correct...
  • Hallelujah Chorus (Handel)
  • Cello Concerto in C Major - First Movement (Haydn)
  • some Oboe Concerto thing (Vivaldi)
  • a currently unnamed song by one of my classmates who plays the cello
  • Fountain of Dreams (special arrangement by me)
I think we're getting another one, too.  Seems unlikely right now but whatever.  We also have another song that I don't think we'll be playing.

Couldn't post any video links, too lazy right now.  After the concert passes, I'll see just how close my names were here compared to what's on the program card at the performance.

Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow - Trainer Battle Theme
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum - Elite Four Battle/Gym Battle
some other random Pokemon music

I'm not a big fan of Wagner, but Liszt makes him so appealing.
Try to do everything; you're bound to succeed with at least one.
