our school only has 6 periods...including an A and B lunch........
each period is about 50 minutes long.......

We have a fortnightly timetable, meaning we have a Week A and a Week B, with four periods a day, lasting 76 minutes each. On sport days, we have two periods. 

Most of the schools in our area run on a Weekly timetable, with 8 periods a day lasting 38 minutes each. We're weird.

Well the blocks that my brother had are long gone. They change the schedule every year testing what works. But just to say this turned into a "Talk about your blocks/periods topic.
