Voice acting is fine where it's fitting at least, but Pokemon games have never seemed to be fitting for voice acting at all.

I've always felt that it would add more charm and personality to the game, like it did in Pokepark Wii. As much as I dislike those games in terms of gameplay, I still found it to be adorable how every Pokemon had their own voice from the anime. Since Pokemon in PMD say more than just their name, I honestly believe that it would be a great series to get some sort of voice acting, even if it was something simple like a laugh from the main antagonists or whatnot. Of course, as long as it isn't cringe worthy like the anime specials... (Save for the animated trailers for Gates to Infinity)

voice acting is never necessary either the game is still just as good without it or it detracts

While I agree that voice acting is amazing in some situations (hm... Professor Layton) I find it kind of awkward hearing Pokémon speak in English. Especially since you can believe they (your partner in particular) sound however you want them to, to really feel like it's your own story and experience. I wouldn't want to risk the universality of the story.

In my opinion, some things are best left to the imagination...

What would Hydreigon sound like? Morgan Freeman?

Yeah, I agree with you there. I sort of liked imagining my own voices for the Pokemon anyway, and Pokemon is just one of those games where it'll never really work out.

While I can see where you are coming from with that, (In my opinion I also like the idea of feeling like it's me in the PMD games, and that my partner is their own person instead of the same character as everybody else) I still think having something to change things up isn't a bad idea. Heck, X and Y had optional lyrics for it's end credits that you could sing in your head if you wanted to, so maybe PSMD could at least have that for it's ending? I don't know, it's just with no screenshots, trailer, music or anything from PSMD I'm very nervous and also excited on what they'll do with this new installment.

Hero of Trains

I agree with Latios. Even in the animated special, I was just saying "No! Umbreon does NOT talk like that!"
Also, I pronounce some Pokemon's names wrong (for example, Virizion), so I would get annoyed at the game.
Professor Layton's voice acting is great, and so is Kid Icarus:Uprising's, but I think that would be too much of a shift for me to have it in a Pokemon game. I think making it optional could work, though.

See guys? Trains isn't nice all the time.

Trains is so nice that I'm sure she'd resurrect herself for a few minutes to compliment you back

Nebbles

I just can't imagine them having voice acting in a Pokemon game. The idea is way too weird for me.

They should only give voice acting to Pikachu like they did in Generation 6

Naaaah. That enough was stupid, we don't need anything like that again.

Yeah I can agree with that at least. This Pikachu bias because he's the mascot shouldn't get too out of hand.

I guess the whole reason I hoped for some sort of voice acting in PMD was because I'm hoping that they'll expand the universe somehow. (Like with another Anime special, a third Manga, a CD drama, something that can give extra info on the inevitable mysteries left unsolved in this game's plot.)

To be fair, I've found it very irritating how they only seem to do these things for the main series, with all of the CD dramas they have released, the numerous manga series they've published, etc when PMD should be able to have at least one of those considering how it's the most popular of the spinoff franchises.

Hm, another PMD manga would be pretty interesting, that I wouldn't mind.
